The Lockport Chamber of Commerce disclosed last night that they are in debt to the tune of 60 to 114 thousand dollars. Add this to the monies that the City of Lockport gave them "in-kind" and you have gross mismanagement of affairs.

Members of the board are leaving. With that kind of debt, the Chamber should be disbanded and re-formed in to a completely new organization.

No documentation was provided to the membership present.

Sort of like the current City Council giving nearly 200 k of tax payer monies to Robinson?

Thank you Pete Colarelli for trying to change the subject.

I was also at the meeting last night and you did most of talking and said nothing. You are part of the problem.

Steve Streit, a fellow board member and candidate for mayor didn't say a peep. I don't think chamber members were impressed by his performance or yours.
Thank you Kelly

That is peanuts compared to what the city council has given away. It is not mismanagement. What is the excuse that the city council would make a big deal out of this. In most towns they would help the chamber. It is tough times when many are losing their homes and everything is overpriced. Of course when you have the taxpayer's loot to work with you can spend it. Have you ever remortgaged your house, K? I know you have. You stink, and make up stories. Pete is only one of many on the board. Thank you for your concerns Pete. You are the best.
Thank you Kelly

Speaking of mismanagement, we should be talking about the city council not the chamber! Sixty percent of the people in Lockport think they are doing very fine with our town. Look at the Legend poll.

The Colarelli Cover Up continues. Maybe the Chamber should be investigated by the Attorney General. Could we then find out where the money went?

Sorry to burst the bubble, I am not Pete Colarelli. I am a resident of the Third Ward who lives near a certain former alderman's home. In full disclosure I did vote for Justin and I am regretting that vote each and every meeting I watch. The tactics used by a certain member of the city council is one of deflection and distraction. Frankly, I am sickened by it. As an elected official the job is one to represent the people who put in you in that position in a responsible and ethical manner. The job does not entail trolling internet forums and smearing potential candidates or fellow council members in preemptive strikes during council meetings. Which leads me to the Chamber of Commerce; I watch the meeting from the January 2nd and saw the bilge about wanting to protect the tax payer being spewed forth. I nearly aspirated on my own vomit. Distracting from the issue of Robinson and the lack of development is not going to magically make those issues disappear. Is the Chamber in trouble possibly, but that is the least of the concerns. The city has a decaying infrastructure, a downtown area which even before moving to this city was in dire need of revitalization and numerous areas screaming for development. Yet what is that I hear from the City Council? Well, he spent $10,000 dollars getting elected for a job that pays $500. Really, is that the crux of the argument? Or could it be which way benches are facing? Please. Stop this juvenile behavior that is more suited for the halls of the schools than City Hall you are elected officials start acting like it.

The last 3 posts were all from Colarelli. How much money did Streit make off of the broke Chamber?
Is that why you are busy posting and trying to change the subject?

The Chamber should be investigated by the Attorney General.

From the Homer/Lockport Tea Party website
“Alderman Ward #2 -Kelly Turner
Kelly’s video did not come out, so we ask him to submit a statment in place of the video:
I believe that the present Mayor and City Council in Lockport have taken on projects that are costing the taxpayers dearly. This is being done in a time when the taxpayers can least afford tax increases. This kind of government is not responsive to the needs of the people and has to change.
Lockport’s downtown is in serious need of revitalization. After spending tens of thousands of dollars on studies and planners it hasn’t improved. Only business can revitalize the downtown, government can not. Government has been more of a hindrance to revitalization.
Lockport has stagnant business development while other towns do not. I-355 and 159th St should have been a gateway but it is instead a failed business development. This has to change. Lockport can move ahead even in tough economic times and I will work to see that happen. Lockport needs to entice business not do things that only hinder business expansion.
I thank the Homer / Lockport Tea Party for their endorsement and I shall work to make Lockport a better place.
Kelly Turner
Candidate for Lockport Second Ward Alderman”
Mr. Turner I know you are reading this so please answer the questions. Where is the development you promised? I see no progress on the Home Depot/Target sites. There are two corners near my home in Victoria Crossings that have nothing but weeds for the past 10 years. The plot of land on 163rd has gone nowhere and the Texaco site has failed. Where is the revalidation of the downtown area? A burned out building a vacant lot and some new benches that’s your idea of revitalization? Mr. Turner you campaigned on a pro-growth platform and have a majority on the City Council yet what do the residents of this community have to show for the election of yourself and Justin. Vacant lots and a vacant seat on the City Council, a few new dollar stores and auto parts store. That is your idea of fulfilling a promise to your constituents? I am ashamed that the Tea Party fell for your deception and failed promises. I can only hope that come April the residents of this community also voice their displeasure at you and your ilk by voting the lot of you from office.
