Alderman comes clean on vulgarity
Daily Southtown
Sunday, December 25, 2005

A Lockport alderman admits making vulgar remarks in a conversation with the deputy city clerk but accuses his political opponents of pressuring her to complain to police.
Ald. Tom Kelly's admission is sure to fuel an already heated political feud among the city's 3rd Ward aldermen and Mayor Tim Murphy's political faction.
Deputy Clerk Donna Tadey told police that Kelly (3rd) referred to another city clerk's office employee as a "black-widow-spider bitch," according to a Dec. 7 police report leaked to local newspapers.
Kelly also told Tadey that a city resident active in a Wal-Mart opposition group had "a nice ass, but, man, does she have a rotten personality." And he also called departing city administrator John McIntyre a "(screw)-up," according to the police report.
Tadey told police that Kelly's comments made her feel harassed, uncomfortable and fearful for her job.
Kelly said he has known Tadey for 15 years, and the two often traded off-color remarks, even faxing lewd jokes to each other.
"I thought I was talking to a friend," he said. "To me, being loud and vulgar and lurid is not harassment. I guess I offended her. I really feel like a fool."
Tadey could not be reached Friday for comment on her complaint. Messages left for Lockport police were not returned Friday.
The clerk's office employee of whom Kelly spoke disparagingly said she was "upset and very offended," adding that Kelly's version of events was ridiculous.
"I don't think Donna considers him a friend," she said. "I've known her for eight months, and I've never heard her use a swear word."
Mayor Tim Murphy said it was "outrageous" for Kelly to claim that Tadey was pressured into making a police complaint.
"He's making the remarks and then accusing her of being a liar," Murphy said. "I am confused by the whole thing. I don't know where his animus comes from."

Is this really the story that you have been hounding us with for days? I can't believe Tom Kelly isn't serving life in prison for these stupid remarks.

What a bunch of nothing. You need to get a life. Just because you were too afraid to run with all of the stripper and cheating on your wife cheating information out there, doesn't mean you have to throw mud at an old man.

Tom Kelly's rep precedes him. This is just the tip of the iceberg for him. He has offended many women in the community and he has been pretty mean to senior citizens too. Since he is wealthy, he must not understand the financial difficulties of many older people. He has backed cutting off benefits to senior citizens like the 50/50 program for sewer service. So he is offensive and unfair. No way he's getting elected. I hope that quote he said about that woman is on every postcard in the ward!

another point we should all make here is that this man is judging and making decisions and he has done this to women. The accuser should be thought of here. This was entirely out of line and rotten to the core. He has not changed as he thinks he is cute and important. He is not, he is a dirty old man!!!!!!!!!!This is proof------your talk is all made up stuff you have made up. nothing more, nothing less, you are creepy too if you think this is ok..

I take great offense at what I read here. He should be ashamed and anyone that sticks up for him too. Running for office and doing these things to ladies and then sitting in that city council chair and voting on things. What has this world come to. The guy that always sticks up for people is just like him, folks, he comes off with things about other people what about what this man has done in the past and it is PROVEN. This guy with the dirty language and the talking about others who always writes on here, is running with him---watch out, people.

This is in the archives of the paper and anybody could have read it but they chose to hide it from the voters and try to snowball people and talk about other personal things that do not matter, they must think they can win an election by hiding the truth.

He is filthy smelly man. For one thing he is definitely lacking mental capabilities to serve. He was caught in a compromising position with a member of the same sex a few yeras ago and those who seen it are willing to go on record from I understand.

I have been in his presence and he routinely makes vulgar jokes and refers to women in highly disparaging ways.

He uses the "I'm a old widower" angle to get elected. But it's not going to work this time. I know of several people that are going to reveal who this scum really is.

This is Kelly Turner's buddy. This is the “people first team” group that attacks and lies about people over and over again.

This time your glass house is coming down. You have a sexual predator on your team. He has urine colored white-yellow hair and the people of Lockport should not accept a disgusting, predatory human being like this to be in any leadership capacity. And they won't!

I know he can’t use a computer to read this since he is about 83 years old, but maybe his friends will inform him he is going to be exposed.

I hope everyone realizes that this is the same person making all of these posts.

If Tom Kelly is a jerk, he shouldn't be in office, but some of this stuff is extreme and completely ignorant. Can't you just talk about the issues? Why does everything get so personal on here?

This is different. This is a creepy person wanting to represent everyone in his ward--women and men--and he shows that he is a hater of women! Why do you befriend someone with this record. Are you in agreement with what he did ? I know I am not, nor are my relatives.

I found this to be the most disgusting account I have ever read on this topix. I hope this important information gets out to the voter, esp. since we have a woman running for the Mayorship of Lockport City Govt. This is troubling and is information that needs to be told to the voters. They can make their own decisions. How dumb do this group that is running think the voters are. I resent the person saying it is the same person, I just came upon this blog tonight and thought I would have my say so. It is an attempt to mislead people!

Well, if you go through these blogs, everything is personal, and if we are electing someone alderman that made predatory remarks against women and women are voting then they should know. My wife says she is totally against this man and will spread the word about him at her church.

Well, I was really torn in this election. I live in KG area and know both Tom Kelly and Rich Davis. I've been leaning toward voting for Kelly because of his experience and stuff. After reading what Kelly did, I will not vote for him. I can't believe that he actually admitted to saying those things and then he tried to blame the employee by saying that she enjoyed it. He would have been fired immediately in any other job! So now I'm going to try to fire him from alderman and will be encouraging my friends to do the same.
