Did not see original post. Are these people who live in New Lenox Township but have a Joliet mailing address?

There was an article in the Patch. They live where they go to 122 grade schools, but Joliet high schools much like Cherry Hill did until recent years.

Nothing new. Been going on for over 30 years.
School dist don't realign for a few.

Many suddivisions have been built in dist 122 but, not LWHS dist. Know your school dist when you purchase in a community.
awful name

Go Fund Me is just an awful name to raise awareness about an issue. Not sure whose decision this was, but it sounds very unintelligent and does not reflect positively on what they are trying to accomplish.

Unfortunately, when you buy a home, you must do your homework. Many knew this odd combo of school options and chose NOT to buy there.

The builder's signs are misleading, I'll grant you that. It makes it sound like it will be all NL schools, but it is not.

Perhaps they could form a class action suit against developer?

I reside in one of these subdivision and the "organization" Children for Lincoln Way is run so poorly. They expect people to attend hearings and donate money yet provide no updates as to the progress of the case. They are not going to be able to succeed with the support of the community if they continue to run their organization this way. After numerous attempts to receive an update, I have yet to receive any, only arguments by the person responding to the email and requesting a donation. So unprofessional. I hope they get their act together for the sake of the children – the purpose of the organization.

It's real simple folks, before you sign on the dotted line know what and where yours schools are. If you don't, you just a plain dumb a$$.

I did know what schools were assigned to this subdivision. I was also aware that there is a pending case to switch the schools. This subdivision should be Lincoln way high school - perhaps that will prevent West from closing down since it would actually have student there.

The same as the Cherry Hill Subdivision fought for Lincoln Way.

It took years and years and more years for Cherry Hill to get what they wanted. I believe that fight started back in the 80's. There was an a$$ teacher who lived in Cherry HIll who was all too eager to turn Cherry Hill students who were using addresses within the district but lived in Cherrry Hill into his employer of LWCentral and getting them kicked out.
I don't get why people buy thinking they can get things changed to what they want by the time their darling is in high school. If people in that subdivision wanted their kids at LW then they should have bought safer. I feel sorry for none of you. It doesn't matter what it should be. It is what it is and you apparently knew that going in. Why are all of you crying after the fact? There were people on the patch complaining they didn't know which means they didn't read and investigate thoroughly enough.

Haven't checked your facts about West either. They have 1400 students. Won't be closing down.

This is the risk you took. Perhaps you should have bought where it was a guarantee your kids would go to LWW. Having property annexed into a different town takes years and years and years to change, IF you are that lucky. Joliet is not going to give up this tax base.

We went there too. Said they might get changed to lincoln way. I didn't take that chance. Glad too. That was their sales pitch. Hoping ppl didn't worry about it if they had small kids. Making them believe there was a chance to change. It was to far ahead thinking about their little ones going to high school

Anyone who took that chance has nobody to blame but themselves. That little kindergarten student is soon a freshmen in what seems to be overnight. If those people who bought couldn't see it as a sales pitch and a risky move then they are just dumb.

True. When the sales lady started telling me how they are trying to have it changed i knew. At the time my kids where in 2nd and 5th. She kept telling me how by the time they go to high school it could change. How they "are excited they already have New Lenox grade school". Mention it once or twice? Ok. Consistently? Hmmmmmm

I agree if people didn't know what school district they were moving into it's their own fault. I was not fooled however, just aware of the situation. And after nine years of work, we got it changed last night:)

Well goody goody for you. I hope your taxes double. You should have to pay what us people that actually live in New Lenox pay. Enjoy the registration fees too, or are you Joliet people going to whine and cry until you get that changed too? Heck why don't we just extend it through the east side and take the rest of you into LWW?

Actually my taxes will decrease:) And as far as registration fees are concerned, I send my kids to private school and actually pay for there schooling--not just whine about what low class Joliet crybabies got into my school district:)

Actually you're wrong. Taxes go up EVERY year. I know you JOLIETVILLE people aren't accustomed to the lovely tax assessor but just wait. You should be paying what the rest of us are paying. You want the benefits of New Lenox you have to pay for it. No more of this bs live in Joliet get the benefits of New Lenox schools.

Tax for your school district is only one part of your property tax genius, The taxes for our new high school district will be the same as you pay which will be less than the district we were in. I'm sure that my overall tax bill will be less than yours though--but that sounds like your problem. Maybe you should move here with us to Jolietville:)

You think your taxes will never go up for using LW? Think again. It costs money to educate more kids and where do you think they're going to get it genius? LW isn't going to take your kids for nothing genius. Gee no thanks, I don't want to live in the dump known as Joliet. That's why we New Lenox peeps are willing to pay higher taxes.
