It has been brought to my attention by my student that her/his teachers are texting while in the class room. Their phones are going off and they are quick to reply. Not only Classroom teachers, but other admistratvie staff also, like Gym teachers. How can they focus on the kids when their cell phones are constantly going off??

I know this will shock the small minded hill rods and snobs out here BUT the NL schools are not that great. This place sucks and I am sorry I built here.

More than likely, your student is just angry that the teacher's cell phone is getting more action then their own.

Seriously.

If I had a dollar for every time one of my kids said their teachers were doing or have done, something unacceptable, I'd be a millionaire. It was always interesting to learn that every complaint about a teacher just happened to be of the teacher of the class they were receiving a poor grade in.

Not to mention, It's my understanding that students are not allowed to be using their cell phones in class either, yet I know for a fact that MOST of the kids sneak their phones into the classrooms and, as innovative as they can be, have devised numerous ways to sneakily text during class as well.

Get a clue Mom. Oh and here's something you should of learned in grade school yourself......nobody likes a snitcher.

You could be right. No doubt that kind of thing happens. But here is the kicker. There are plenty of teachers that pull this kind of nonsense all the time. There is not a better paying part time job in the USA than a high school gym teacher. I had to kids go through Central that barely saw Mr. Ruetigger. The guy should have worn a mask when he collected his paycheck. There are plenty of teachers in district 122 and 210 that are on their cell phones quite a bit. How do I know? I'm married to one.

There is a gym teacher who has been posting items for sale on a local sales page on facebook all day during school. She must be selling everything she owns. This has been going on all week. Who is watching those 1st-3rd graders while Mrs. D is selling her stuff? Let me guess, a student teacher. Mrs. Moy should be better aware of what her employees are doing during their school time. That page has thousands of people on it. If that teacher didn't think a Tyler parent would see it she's just dumb.

You sound like a texting teacher who texts while on the taxpayer's time. Most employers do not want you on your phone during the work day. Teachers are paid to teach, not text and fb each other. Teachers who text and sell their belongings on the job must be really secure in their employment. The Board of Education needs to adopt a policy to keep teachers off of their phones and concentrating on teaching. I'm sure the union will have a problem with a policy like that.

I would simply print the thread and bring it to Haven office (not the principal) and show Dr. Sass and Manville what is going on in their district. Then, tell them you will call the patch if something is not done immediately. More bad press is not something they want or need. This is why tenure is a bad thing...if this were a regular, non-union employee they would be out the door.

As far as this certain gym teacher that is being spoken about, my children have often complained that while they are running laps she is in on her computer or cell phone not even watching them. When they finish they are stading there and she tells them to "Hang On" so she can finish up her business. Think she needs a few surprise drop in's while she's supposed to be watching the kids, not her computer. It's one thing to have your phone going off in the classroom if your a teacher and it's on vibrate so everyone doesn't get distracted, but when your song or tone is loud enough to make everyone look or want to dance get a clue!!

From what I hear, Yes..she is a bully! Putting down the kids and just plain mean. My children tell me she has an "Ugly Look/Scowl" on her face all the time! They actually HATE when it's Gym Class day because of her! I am sure there are plenty of Nice Gym teachers willing to take her place, so SHIP UP-OR SHIP OUT! If you don't like kids, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TEACH!!!!!

Obviously you should move to a different suburb or better yet I'm sure your child will receive an excellent education in the Chicago public school system. Get a life and worry about what is actually important. maybe if you were not such a rich snobby stay at home loser you would be focused on better things instaed of a teacher who texts. you don't even know if the teacher has an emergency or what the reason was for texting. But I'm sure all you do is worry if Johnny has his retainer. Get a life!!

YOU PARENTS NEED TO GROW UP... I AM GUESSING NONE OF YOU HAVE JOBS IF ALL YOU DO IS SIT ON HERE AND COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS "GYM" TEACHER.. MY KIDS LOVE HER. THE CANT WAIT TO GO TO HER CLASS AND LEARN FUN THINGS AND DO ACTIVITIES.... I THINK SOME OF YOU MOMS WISH YOU WERE HER!!.. AND AS FOR HER SELLING HER THINGS.. WHO CARES.. MY KIDS TOLD ME SHE WAS OFF WED, THUR, AND FRI!! SO SHE IS DOING THIS ON HER OWN TIME!! AND I ALSO BELIEVE NONE OF YOU KNOW THE REASON WHY SHE IS SELLING THINGS.. DO YOU??? SO MY BEST ADVICE TO ALL OF YOU IMMATURE PARENTS IS STOP THE DRAMA ...ACT YOUR AGE.. GROW UP.. OR PULL YOUR KIDS OUT OF THE SCHOOL.. BECAUSE THAT TEACHER WILL NOT BE GOING ANYWHERE!!

Well I am a Substitute teacher who has subbed for her in the past and can say that this is not true at all. Slanderous statements on here, sad.

I agree with Grow Up! She is an excellent teacher and a very nice person. The kids really like her too. So this person who has the kid that doesnt like this gym teacher sounds like the child gets their attitude from the snotty parent. Have a nice day :))
