Wiley Murders in Thermopolis, wy

I wanted to find some info on these murders...they happened in the late 80's and it was the young boy who killed his mom and siblings. I dont know if i am spelling the name correctly or not.

Late 80's there was the murder of Shelly Wiley in Laramie Wy

Nope, that wasnt it...these happened outside of Thermopolis. He had been on a school trip, the bus dropped him off at his house and he proceded to kill his family. If i remember right his mom was Becky.

He also escaped from the Wyo state pen a few years later.

yes the young boy killed his two brothers and mother on brother escaped and he chased him down dragged him back in house and killed him then set house on fire the dad was hunting on the river at the time

Yes, that is the one....do you happen to remember the name of the family members and about the time that it happened?

The murders occurred in Nov. 1990 by the hand of James "Jamie" Michael Wiley. Slain were:
Becky Wiley, 34, Jesse Lee Wiley, 13, and Jamie's stepbrother Willy Lee Brady and half brother Tyrone Wiley, 5.

It as actually about 1990. Becky Wiley and her 3 sons were murdered by the oldest son.

Becky was a nursing student at CWC and we were out for Thanksgiving break when this occurred.

Thanks to everyone for the info. Not sure what sparked my interest. Maybe cause all we can remember him by is "that Wiley boy" and I guess I want to be able to remember his victims and not him!

It happened when I was at an age that I didnt pay a lot of attention to all of the news details.

BTW, I heard recently that someone may be writing a book on the event ... I think the author-to-be resides in Cody and has apparently interviewed James in jail.

Wiley was recently featured in an episode of "lockdown" on nat geo channel. The episode is titled "newbies" and is set in Wyoming state pen...

At the time, I was about ten years old and I was friends with Willy (the ten year old) who was killed. I would sometimes go over to their house and would play Megaman on his Nintendo with him. It really was a shocking event for such a small town, even to this day. My sister (who knew Jamie Wiley) actually still believes he is innocent. I have no information one way or the other. At any rate, I thought some first hand information from someone a little closer to the actual events might be interesting.

Becky was my cousin, It was a very tragic event. But Jamie had been in trouble before, he constantly ran away and gave his father and Becky fits. Honestly, I feel that the father was involved. It seems way to convenient to be hunting with friends in a canoe, look up the river and say "Oh, my it looks like my house is on fire". The funeral was wierd as well, the pastor could only talk about Jamie having knives and stuff...not at all what you wanted to hear at a funeral. I didn't want to hear about Jamie in any way at all.
