As the chief of Lamar's Police Dept. he sucked! Way not promote from within? Couldn't his second fiddle be chief?

Smart to get out before the "Second Fiddle" drives him to suicide like he did his Sherriff in MO. Get rid of him before the whole department is destroyed!

It’s about time the dead beat gets out of here; he is so unattached from the Police Department anyway. He probably had been looking for a job almost since he showed up here. Hopefully he takes that so called Commander with him.

I think the "Second Fiddle" has been playing the cheif like a tune anyway.

If you are from KS you are only on here cause that is where the second in command is from and you have "issues" with him, but Chief Phillips has been completely attached to the Lamar PD. He has changed crime down so much here and given his time to the officers and fixed so many wrongs in that agency. We are sad to see him go.

Really? I asked him to ticket people who take the handicaped parking, never HAPPENED! A blind man can see it on West Elm, south side of the street! Being partially disabled it's madding to see people who are not handicaped take the spots! Isn't that part of the cops job? Or is it to just ride around with their sunglasses on and using a cell phone? It happens everyday on West Elm!
Didn't second fiddle come to Lamar from Florida?

No he came from KS, the Chief came from Florida.Be mad at those who take the handicapped spots. It is a silly reason to hate on an official just because bad people do bad things and in the scope of all the good he has done, it makes no sense. He stopped a lot of drug trafficking in the area, he started programs that helped our community, he cleaned up the problems in the department. If the manpower was better used to fight larger problems and the parking was not the highest priority well that could be viewed as good management.

Not sure where "fiddle" was from, but Phillips and Stock both came from Florida and wish they would both leave and take "fiddle' with them. At the time of Stocks hiring with Lamar, he had an ongoing lawsuit against him in Florida for discrimination of some black and spanish oriented employees. He and Phillips ran off one of Lamars most loyal and people oriented police officer when Dougherty was forced out of LPD (another discrimination????). Phillips took credit for projects that had already been implemented by Dougherty and his officers, such as the drug dog, trainings, drug trafficking etc. And from what is going around, he WASN'T attached to the PD. He moved his office upstairs and noone ever knew if he was there or not, he spent most of his day focused on extracurricular activities, that did not pertain to his duty as a chief. If he loved Lamar as much, as he said he did, he wouldn't have looked elsewhere for employment. So there is no loss with him leaving. I always say promote from within, however, in this case there isn't much to choose from, so maybe looking nation wide at this point would be the best option.

My guess you are not handicapped? So, therefore you don't care.....right? I do, it's part of their job to do traffic, I guess they watch too much Mimi Vice re-runs or COPS!
Traffic is just as important as the DRUG BUSTS! Let's add the speeding semi's down our streets!

The second fiddle also ran off two more good officers and more good ones are leaving! If the councel knew what was good for the City, they would replace second fiddle ASAP!

Ken Buck is great - if only his hands were not tied so he could continue to fight the illegals coming into this country.

Wow! So Chief Phillips didn't write a ticket for KTC. How's that for axe grinding? Let's forget about all the drug busts. Let's forget about the formation of the only SWAT team in the region (with equal credit going to Commander McCrea), let's forget that we now have not one but two drug dogs. Let's forget about all the high quality training brought in not only for our police department but for police departments from the surrounding states. Let's also forget about the impending accrediation that Chief Phillips has initiated.

Our police department is far more professional than it ever was under any of our previous chiefs. I am saddened that Chief Phillips is leaving but I understand. He was given an offer he could not refuse. I applaud both him and Commander McCrea. It would be my hope that the City of Lamar allows the Commander to carry on the values that started with Chief Phillips. I'm proud of both of them and wish them both the best of luck...no matter what.

It is my belief that the tremendous improvements and perfomance of the Lamar Police Department are obvious to all but the most ignorant of citizens. Anybody who believes Chief Phillips was a bad leader obviously has an axe to grind. Maybe he busted one of your family members for selling drugs....or didn't get the handicapped parking violation ticket written. Maybe...just maybe we could get John Hall back. Our drug problem would increase but at least we would know all those aweful bicyclists riding around Lamar at night with no headlight on would be under control.

Geez people!!

FTW..wow learn how to spell. Your post read like the rant of someone stoned (or who got busted for weed!)
Anyway, Chief Phillips did more for Lamar in three years than that knucklehead Juan Hall did in 10. But again this should be no suprise to anyone, Lamar has always been the stepping stone for everyone from Cheif to ACO to better their resume and go elsewhere. Until Lamar has more to offer young officers this will continue!

Some of our citizens are an embarrassment to our town. FTW how far did you get in school? You cannot even type a complete sentence.

Thank you Chief Phillips! You are one of the few in uniform, here in Lamar, who has enforced the laws. Thank you for the drug busts as well.

Good luck!
