OK- believe it or not, there is some middle ground here. As the mother of a teenage boy who plays sports and always has a bunch of boys around, I can honestly say that (sorry, gals) this is boy stuff, and that the adults, especially the female adults, are understandably over-reacting to how the KIDS feel about this. Freak out about it, and so will they. Plant in their heads how horrible it was for them, and it will be. Cooler heads must prevail, and the "victims" need to not feel so "victimized", for their own good, and the perpetrators need to not feel so 'monsterized". Boys are gross! They laugh about peeing in people's lockers, bodily parts and noises and functions are HILARIOUS, etc. That being said, in this day and age, this stuff is just not acceptable, as my son and his friends understand,(after they've stopped laughing and I've talked to them about it), and these boys need to understand that. They should be punished appropriately- the 5 days and a few games seems reasonable- but not humiliated, on either side. What good will that do? Let's not overlook the lessons to be learned here about bullying and respect for others, but also let's not forget that as girls, we just don't GET this stuff, and it would be a mistake to make TOO much of the sexual part- we are looking for understanding and behavioral modification here, not shame.

I will give ya that, I don't 100% GET this stuff at all. Good advise for sure. I still think that there is more to have at home for the offenders. In this day & age & ages before (because it is wrong no matter what day & age) it is unacceptable and needs to be addressed.

I grew up with 5 brothers, I do somewhat get it, the 3 older ones taught me a lesson or two in grossness for sure. I mean swirlies, eeewwww yuk! Not mention by the time they all told me when I was no longer a little girl that they'd kick any guys ass that tried to screw me over, I really didn't need them to do it. I already could from fighting them. LOL

However, I never saw anything as remotely unacceptable as this, unacceptable yes, but nothing like this incident.

Brag, Brag, Brag. It's no wonder some kids are the way they are. If you don't think that your kids could be just as likly to be involved in some type of bad hazing incident then you are blind to realtity. If you are from Byers your team never played Roosevelt. Your in 2A.
My kids aren't in Byers, yes I have real good reason to brag! And NO my boys would never put their junk in a friends face they all repect each other way to much for that kinda crap!

As the mother of 4 boys I think I know all about the just boys being boys stuff....that said i asked the whole team today for their thoughts on this subject and they all agreed that it was way over the line and that nobody should ever have to endure that EVER!!! They are all boys and they said it was disgusting!

No..I'm not the kind to cry about it. If someone "teabagged" any one of my 5 kids, I'd tell them to grab it and twist the sh*t out of it,make them feel some pain! No one should have to put up or shut up when this happends.

I totally agree that it was disgusting and over the line, but I think it more nasty and bullying than sexual, was my point, I guess. Using their "parts" was an aggressive act, but not a sexual one, and while they should be punished for that, I think it would be more damaging to the victims to make this a sexual thing. DND- you have 4 boys? Bless you- you and Iggy with her 5 brothers- guess I was preaching to choir there! My house is always full of boys, even my dog is a boy, and while I love them, it's SO nice when girls come to visit, too!

Ya, this was just more than a prank, it was a sexual assault and I cannot believe that the kids who did this would do something like that. I know these kids very well and it is just shocking to hear who was involved

Oh I agree! When my daughter was in high school it wasn't so bad because her friends were over all the time so it balanced out nicely now two of the boys are in high school and this house is always full of boys now. My two cats and my puppy are female because of that reason lol :) I look forward to my daughter's friends coming home from college so that I can fill the house with girls again! My older boys always try to keep it fair by inviting their girlfriends over to balance things out as well lol. Otherwise its usually just me and a bunch of icky boys teehee :)

I imagine it would be....it'd be a whole different story if you actually knew them. I have no clue how I would react to them after hearing about it.:)
