the money made for from the campground is designated for upkeep of all parks in JC and campground. The city does not get that money! However it does bring business into town. We are glad to have you visit our fine city.

Most of that money goes right back in to the campground and NOT any other park in town. Just take a look at the park by washington and the ball diamonds. They are nowhere near kept up like the campgrounds and the equiptment out there. Make it sound as good as you like, but that's how it will be until the city finally wises up and takes control back from the squatters.

Seems real quiet now that certain persons didn't get their way.

The ball diamonds are kept up by the ball league, the park maintainence mows on mower on the outside of fences as agreed with ball league. You just don't know that evidently. As far as the park on Washington I believe that park is beautiful and kept mowed very nicely. For your information the money from the campground pays to mow the memorial park by tracks and the one across the street from it. It also pays to mow the old park on Washington and all the park and campground. Pays for their own mowers and employees from campground money. So no campground upkeep no campers, means no money. How do you think it would look now that the city is busted? They sure couldn't keep that all mowed. Campground has to keep sites up with gravel and regular maintainence in order to keep campers coming. To my knowledge the campground has never been completely full so there is alway room. To those that think they know it all, any campers wishing to store their campers during the winter will be paying regular fees unless they move to the storge sites away from the lake. There are also 4 sites on shady lake side that are rented for only 2 weeks and then the camper has to move to another site in order to keep shady spots freed up. And that's a fact!

Yeah, I heard Jeff Stallings was mowing and approached by some guy from a union and told not to mow again.

I think there needs to be an audit of the Arrowhead camp ground or at least an investigation.
It might be that they will find that money is missing from there also just like at the water department.
If a person is just passing through and stop for a night or two and then move on, it seems to me that it would be easy for someone to pocket that money if they wanted, there is no way to prove what was collected especially if cash was paid.
with today's technology it would be simple to print off a receipt like used at the campground or have a duplicate receipt book.
If that were the case a Camp ground host could spend the morning at the D.Q. eating biscuits and gravy free.
It might be that the City should implement some more check and balance protection in that area.

now they do but not until recently and face it the city shop is closer than pulling a mower from the park maintenance building.

I guess I have been in a closet about that, I knew there were problems there but I was not aware of any charges were filed in reference to the campground, only the water department.
You might want to enlighten me some, who has been charged.

How many people are living at Arrowhead this winter? I drove through and it looked like a lot of campers there.
Was this issue ever resolved?

If the campground and the park out there aren't kept up there will be no money to even mow the park by washington and the diamonds. The campground brings in thousands of dollars in the season vs only several hundred that community center brings in. Community center is a plus for at the people of JC to use for functions but it is also kept up with camping money. There has been several new items put in there and several expensive repairs to keep it going. I have said this before and will say it again, I personally got the money for the small shelters, picnic tables and new playground equiptment at lake. Reason being, that is where the money can be made to do other things. Our lake and campground is special. Go take a look at Marion's campground now that is a live-in mess. Our campground is always clean and maintained we have something to be proud of and to draw visitors to our city and they spend money at our businesse.

those that live there during the winter pay regular price as summer but they have no water! that's not exactly a good situation but they choose it and it pays the bills. Those storing a camper on the lake side are paying $14 a day whether living in the camper one day or no days.
Storing in the storage area they are paying $2 a day.
You should have counted them if you were out there. When I go I'm not out there to nit pick I'm out there to enjoy myself or I wouldn't go.

I guess you would have to ask the mayor or the states attorney's office. Lots of things in this world according to the charges are resolved out of court. I don't know what happened or didn't happened, that falls under executive meetings and I don't know if you can get a copy of them or not. Ask the mayor!

Nothing saddens me more than to see all of this bickering about the Arrowhead Lake campground. It was a grass roots effort that brought the dreams of many into fruition. Countless unpaid man hours went into the design, planning and grant writing by Myself, Connie Oliver and Harry Hancock to make most of what you see at Arrowhead Lake happen.
Furthermore Arrowhead Lake Campground is not a city supported venture. The City has no involvement in what happens there and pays for nothing that does. As for financial improprieties, the books are open, go to city hall and you can see a record of all financial transactions, as well as a monthly financial statement. To all ye naysayers, if you donít like what is happening get involved.

I'm sorry, I thought that the tax payers paid for the upkeep of that cemetery lake before the campground was ever built, how does one separate that now from the campground?

Well now, the Lions Club had the boat dock put in, the money we raised for the skate park that fell through bought $7000 worth of pedalboats, as far as keeping the dam mowed the campground maintenace does that. I just an individual resident gets the inmates to come each year and keep the trail maintained and the banks looking nice. Williamson county helps us just before the fishing derby every year when their over here mowing the county highway. Dwight Hoffard keeps a watch over the fish and the species and stocking. So where in the heck did you that the city does anything out there. I love our city but sometime long ago the parks, campgrounds and city split the sheets. Don't know why and I think it is a crime not to kiss and makeup for the good of the families and children of the community. So as you see there is no separation from lake and campground, it is all city property. Just that there is a board appointed over the campgrounds and ALL the parks in JC. Come out and get involved personally it is a hoot and you never know how much you will fall in love with the beautiful view just by sitting on the porch at the general store.

I have a friend at Arrowhead Lake,Tony Prusaczyk. Who because of the host, Will Sisk lost a contest that would have let him and 3 of his friends go to a New Years Party in Austin TX. that is being put on by Willie Nelson & Friends. It is going to be at The Austin City Limits Theater, Tony & his friends were going to have everything paid for by SiriusXM Radio. It included Airline ticket's,Hotel, meals paid for and tickets to Willie's New Year Party on both nights December 30th & 31st.
