Dude Jackyl is awsome ive seen them a few times most recent in Winstin Salem. They do that everywhere they go. When they started out when they where trying to get a record deal Jesse James Depree was in a meeting with the owner of the record company and at the end of the meeting Jesse opened up his Gituar case and pull out a chainsaw and jumped up on the mans desk and cut Jackyl in the top of it and the owner gave them the deal lol that is awesome. And the whole band came to a party over in Erwin up in Flag Pond up on Rice Creek at Rodney Briggs house cause I remember Jesse jumping on Rodneys dirt bike and riding wheelys up and down the road. It was a wild party.

When I went there, some guy named Jim or James owned the place. He was once a state trooper in Virginia, I think. He married some girl who hung out there all the time.

Jim Carter was State Trooper in Virgina from Big Stone Gap. It was alleged he made a very large bust and kept most of the money and drugs. When the courts learned of the theft allegation he resigned. It is also alleged his father was also in law enforcement and pulled strings to keep any investigation from moving forward.

After that He moved to Johnson City and bought a bar. He now owns the Johnson City Airport. This is all practically ancient history and pretty much common knowledge in the head out of the sand crowd.

I knew about what people were saying about him and more you couldn't possibly know. I was trying to be nice on the internet.
Back to what I was asking, what did Jim call the bar when he owned it?

I have stated before it was Night Moves where they cut into the ceiling...They also cut up a few bar stools. I do not know where everyone gets that they played in every bar in JC cause they didn't. One of the main reasons is the power they required for their concerts. When they played at Night Moves Vito had to get a generator to handle the power load. I remember during one of their sound checks they pegged the VU meters and had very high Db. I was there and know it to be true. Night Moves was a great club and Vito brought great groups in where no one could even Freedom Hall.

Can't believe nobody has mentioned, that jackyl was playing in johnson city before they even put out their first record with the lumberjack song on it, before they hit it big. The bass player is from johnson city, they got a another guy playing bass for them now and one of the guitar players is no longer with them. They played in johnson city every year when that bass player from j.c. was with them. The gig they did at night moves was when they had their second album headed for destruction out and was touring in support of that album, thats the one i saw, he didnt cut into the celing that gig, he sawed a bar stool up during the lumberjack song, which appeared to be the end of the show. The crowd demanded more and they came out and played secret of the bottle. They may have played other times at night moves, but i know that night he didnt cut into the ceiling, he would need a ladder for that i would think. Wicked Ways played before Jackyl that night, singer for them was pretty cool, me and my friends shared our Jim Beam and appalachian homegrown with him in the parking lot. Saw jackyl open for zz top in freedom hall, j.c. and they kicked zz's azz that night, billy gibbons too drunk too do his best that night, not that it wud've mattered, just glad jackyl was there so got to see somebody really kick azz. Saw them in roanoke when they were going for the guiness book of world records, trying to do 100 concerts in 50 days, and the shows were free. They totally whopped azz again, JACKYL is badazz and still are even with the new bass player and minus that one guitar player. I remember in 1989 jackyl played a bar in the tri cities and carved jackyl into the wall or ceiling during the show, one of my best friends went to it and came back bragging about how kick azz they were and betting they were going to hit it big time. Well shortly after that, the lumberjack song video premiered on MTV and the rest is multi platinum history. Dont remember what he said the name of the bar was though and lost contact with him nowadays. Anybody that likes rock n roll, go see jackyl today or anytime in their career, would definitely say, they put on a badazz show, not meaning pyrotechnics, flamethrowers or crap like that, but as in their attitude, how loud they play, and how awesome they sound, they are real badazz, to me, they are similar to acdc, pure 100 percent good ol american rock n roll!

Forgot to say, they failed on their first attempt to set the guiness book world record, but succeeded on their second attempt, they made a stop in johnson city during that stint also. The one in roanoke that i saw on their first attempt at the record, they just pulled up using a long flatbed trailer for their stage, plugged it into generators hauled on a bus, tour bus. They were promoting their 'staying alive' album during this. They had a mechanical bull on stage and they would choose a different woman from the crowd in between each song and put the lady on the mechanical bull. Every one of those women went topless on the mechanical bull riding it as the song played, they closed down second street for that gig, only two cops there, stood at the end of the flatbead and cause of the huge 12 foor high stacks of Marshall amps at both ends of the flatbed, the cops couldnt see the women on the mechanical bull and didnt have a clue to it the whole show. Pretty cool, how times you seen a show where you got topless women riding a mechanical bull on stage the whole show? Only time i ever seen it. They also broadcast live on a radio show i think called 'live nation' or 'rock nation', they played 'i stand alone' and a cover of acec's 'live wire' live on over 300 radio stations across the usa and canada. I seen acec twice in concert and jackyl plays live wire better than acdc can play it. They also did a cover of lynyrd skynyrds ' gimme back my bullets'. I seen skynyrd 5 times in concert and again, jackyl plays that song better than skynyrd plays it. Thats how badazz Jackyl is, if you aint never seen them and you like rock n roll, cant go wrong at all in seeing Jackyl in concert, even today, 24 years after their debut album. They are so in your face when they play live, jesses james is the most charismatic singer i've ever seen with a crowd, its like hes right their by your side partying with ya, and literally you might be cause they bring people out of the crowd at random to bring on stage for different antics he dreams of, riding mechanical bulls, mooning the crowd with him, singing back up voacls, having a drink on stage, bringing women up to dance and promotes nudity not only on stage but in the crowd, they even encourage the crowd to have an orgy. They are wild as f*ck and you gonna have a good time at their shows, promise ya that.
