Is there anyone else who sees or has seen Dr. Moran and left there feeling as though you had been totally dismissed and made to feel like you were wasting HIS time by being sick or having a problem? Just wondering if this a how he treats all his patients or was he having one hell of a bad day?

I haven't been to him, but I'll tell you to never go back and see that jerk.

Some doctors have these attitudes that they are better than the rest of the world and it sounds like this a hole is one of them.

With the money a doctor makes, they should treat their patients like royalty.

I couldn't agree more. I use to see Dr. Moran as a kid and thought he was awesome. Maybe I was looking back through rose colored glasses, I dunno! I was so disappointed to have him talk down to me and just try to minimize the concerns I have. He complained about the insurance I have, said he wouldn't have his nurses waste their time trying to get tests approved through the insurance or anything and basically put me off on someone else. How are patients suppose to build trusting relationships with their doctors when they are treated like they aren't worth the doctor's time or energy?? Any suggestions on a good family doctor? My kids and I are in the market to replace one!

Hey Dismissed I seen him as well and thought the same way. I seen a couple different while I was in the area and none of them seemed to be any good, good luck in the search. Hopefully you will find someone good soon.

Thanks Rose... Unfortunately I have had the same experience with MOST of the doctors in this area. No one wants to take responsibility for a patients health, they just pass the buck. I understand that there are people out there who abuse DRs and use them for nothing more than their prescription pads, but who label every patient that comes through ur door as trash, addicts, or nut cases? Sad to say, but the ONLY Dr I have come across in this area who has taken the time to listen to me, look into problems I am having, and strive to find an answer was my Gyno! What is the world coming to? Thanks to all those who abuse DRs and the system for ensuring that no one gets adequate health care!

Unfortunately, I too have seen this DR and I also felt as though he were dismissing me. Kinda think he felt as though I was wasting his time. Very disheartening! If there are any suggestions for family DRs, I would gladly like to hear them too!

Awesome! Thanks! I will check into him. I hate trying to find new doctors! It's such an intimate relationship and I find it hard to trust doctors.

I see Dr Moran and I take my children to Dr Moran.
He is a straight forward person. Given the fact that a lot of people aren't insured as well as they think they are, I can understand where filing forms with some insurors would be a lost cause. Hence, a good case for universal healthcare. Go to the Tennessee Department of Insurance website and look up the companies that have written the most policies. If your company isn't one of the top 10, then your coverage is probably less than desirable. It's of no benefit to you to wait around for an insurance company that routinely declines payment if you need treatment now. FYI..I do not have insurance, I always pay cash for my treatment (in advance), and I always tell Dr Moran to prescribe generic drugs that I can buy for $4 at Food City.
There is no such thing as FREE HEALTHCARE and all doctors have to pay their bills. Believe it not, HEALTHCARE is a business. P.S. Rather than let the government do it, I am rationing my own healthcare.

I wish I could afford to pay for my doctor visits and medications in cash, maybe it would make the doctors take me more seriously when telling them that something is wrong. For the record, when I went to this DR with my issues... he told me that he wasn't going to call the insurance to get approval for certain tests because his nurses had better things to do than sit on the phone all day. When I asked my gyno her oppinion about the symptoms, she took the extra step and had the tests ordered and approved for payment through my insurance company (which took all of 10 min at most. It was done while I was standing at the check out desk). The results of those tests led to a diagnosis of a genetic hormone condition and diabetes... 2 things can can lead to tons of other health problems. I have lost all respect for that DR. If his #1 concern is not the health and well being of his patients (ALL of his patients), he needs to find a new line of work and refer his patients to someone who does care about their well being.

My problem with Dr. Moran was that he spent the entire doctor visit complaining to me about insurance companies and how the price of everything has gone up and he can barely make his payments. It is not my problem that he isn't happy with healthcare system, my problem was that I wasn't feeling well!!

Wow! U too!!! He complained to me about his ex-wife, telling me about Mountain States Health Alliance and Isurance companies would jerk u around and are just out for money.... but hell, so is he or he would have taken 10 min to get the approval needed for my tests and not make me feel ashamed about having had to see a doctor.

I've never seen him, but an ex bf of mine went to see him and loved him. He said he was very attentive. He even took care of a cyst he had for years that his previous doctor just kept saying "we need to take care of that."
My ex was very pleased with him.

I am glad that ur ex had a good experience with him. I have to say, my first visit with him was good and I was quite happy with him. I thought I had found a good doctor for my family's care... but after getting the spill of how he would not do any work with getting the insurance approvals for needed treatments, I couldn't see him in the same light.

really? don't you expect to get paid for a service you provide? i am guessing your answer is "yes" so what is the difference if a doc wants to get paid?

That's all well and good... but being that he is in a private practice, if he does not like what the insurace pays and so forth, don't accept that insurance. Nothing says he HAS to accept all insurances. The point of this whole discussion is his bedside manner and the way he just talks down to people and in a way dismisses them acting as if his patients waste his time!

Doctor Moran was my father's physician and now is mine. My family has never had a bad experience with him or his staff. The man is very straight forward and does not sugarcoat things. Highly recommended!

Dr. Moran is my Doctor, and I love him! He is always, kind, attentive, and strait forward. It is not his fault that he deals with BS from insurance companies. Also, consider that many "patients" are med seeking, and he sees thru their BS. The man is decent and kind, trying to make a living like everybody else.

Dr. Moran has been my doctor for several years and I LOVE him. He is kind, compassionate, listens to everything I say, and treats me accordingly. I feel as if I have visited a good friend. Maybe the people having a bad experience go in with an attitude. Others may be doctor shopping to get drugs to support a habit, and he can see through the facade of a fake illness. STOP BASHING A WONDERFUL DOCTOR. Also, his staff is as caring as he is. wjg (MY REAL INITIALS).
