Hey bob, I'm sure there are fish in there! I didn't know there was a quarry in Boones Creek. Can you give me more info? Back in the old days, I used to fish in the old Milligan Quarry and an old one in Keystone. One thing for sure, you never know what you might catch in a quarry. I've caught small and medium sized fishes in quarries, from bluegill, catfish, bass and trout, but the big ones are there, just hard to find. Quarries hold many different fishes according to their preferences for temperature, and it goes from one extreme to another in a quarry. Heck, the Milligan quarry can be seen from far above, and I've seen huge catfish swimming in there, but never caught a big one. Back in the day, I saw carp there as big as lengths of cord wood. No kidding, long long ago a kid caught an alligator there. It was about 3 feet long and was probably released there as a pet that got too big to be a pet. Quarry fishing is very different from ordinary fishing. You have to remember to not try to fish too deep, keep it no less than 20 or 30 feet deep. If you can get the lay of the place, you can find the drop offs, ledges and such where the fish gather. After that, most fish avoid the depths. Springs feed the quarry, both cold and warm, and don't even think of swimming there. All I can say is give it a try! And please let me know if ya catch a big one. Ever heard a bunch of bullfrogs cutting loose croaking in a quarry? If so, you will remember it forever! Good luck on your fishing expedition and please keep us posted.

I'm a big fan of quarry fishing, but ever notice how hard it is to find out the history of the quarries? I've tried many a time to find out more about them, but with no results. Seems most of them were limestone quarries and a history of them is hard to find. That quarry behind Wisemans, all fenced in, is it possible to fish there? I'm dying to know!

I believe that quarry is privately owned. There is a small home there and a landing with a boat at the end of a path. The water rises and falls a lot with the rainfall I've heard.
The one in Boones Creek is a large one and has cold currents. It was junkyard for years and is very grown up with vegetation. We swam there as kids but never fished it. Where is the Milligan quarry?
