Admission to University School is on a lottery system. It would be possible for one of your children to be accepted and not others.

Because more people want to attend the school than they have room and resources to handle. So all the prospective students on the waiting list get thrown into a big hat and randomly drawn. If you have multiple children, it is unlikely that they will all be drawn.

US must be a good school or the city schools must be pretty bad since the mayor of JC pulled his kid out of city schools to University School. Apparently city schools aren't good enough for him.

Well, yep, University High was considered a snob school back in my day. I don't know about the lottery system, but if you have money or political influence your kid will be a shoe in. I'm not saying anything negative about the quality of the teaching there. It has to be much better than the city schools.

Anyone that's under the impression the university school is a "snob school" is very mistaken..there are everything but kids from rich families there. Most rich kids go to Science Hill High School, but it is very diverse there. For other reasons, I would never send my child to UH. It's honestly a pathetic excuse or a school..the teachers are awful and most of them have only been there for a short while. Any good teacher doesn't stay there very long, because the school sucks that bad. You should reconsider..

I graduated a couple of years ago.. And the teachers just can't teach. They get the worst of the worst there because no one wants to work there.. And from what I know, it's like the lowest paying school in the area

I personally went there myself from kindergarten through sixth grade, i hated it. it is a snob school. if your not rich, you dont fit in. I would reccomend Jonesborough elementary/middle or somewhere close to where you will be living. But not U.H.

If you graduated this year, which I'm pretty sure you did bc I think I remember you..you have no clue what you're talking about. Who in your class, or anyone at the school for that matter, was rich? I'm guessing you left bc of behavioral problems bc I remember you being kind of a trouble maker. The students of the school are not the problem. It's the teachers and the administrators.

I graduated this year and actually from my opinion a lot of the kids there are snobs. Not exactly rich but they were snobs. Actually I wasn't really a trouble maker. I was just being a kid. But anyways I don't really know about the teachers for 7th grade and up bc I switched after sixth grade. Oh and btw I left bc of dr defreeze or however you spell her name, she was very rude to my mother. Im just wondering who you are if you know me?

I graduated from UH in 1995. The teachers are excellent. The level of education you receive from UH far surpasses that of the other local schools. UH puts 97% of their graduates into college. The curriculum is strictly college preparatory whereas no vocational classes are offered. I wouldn't say it is all rich kids, but there are no broke kids if that means anything.

UH was a good school in 1995.. But that was over 15 years ago. Lots of things have changed. None of the same teachers are there. The teachers now don't care anything about the kids learning. And I guarantee the are more broke kids there than wealthy..
