I bought a vehicle from Buchanan's about 4 or 5 mths ago, and the day b4 Thanksgiving it tore up I took it to the dealership and they told me there was definately trouble in the heads and had been for a LONG time, i should have known after the money had switched hands the check engine light came on, but was told it was probably just because the gaslight had came on or the cap wasn't on correctly...Make a long story short, I'll never buy anything else from Buchanan's Auto Sales in Johnson City...I'm sure they knew all along something was bad wrong, but didn't offer to say a word...When the heads were taken off the bolts had been torqued triple to what is recommened, wo that tells me someone knew something and didn't want to go thru the expense to have it fixed, Now it has already cost me about 800.00 and that is not including any labor..Also, the carfax showed nothing, so you cannot always go by that...Really Unhappy!!!!!!!!!!

Funny, it is not their fault. So you bought a used car with no warranty and you get mad after you drive it for 5 months and put say 3500 miles on it? Why are you mad at them? Did they build it? Are they the manufacturer? You bought it as-is. You accepted that now accept that your car is broke and you have to fix it. Did they promise that you were going to drive it forever and never have any problems out of it?

Funny..how the day i bought it the check engine light came on and i was toldit was eitherbecause thegas light came on or the gas cap wasn't on correctly. They knew along sonething was bad wrong and it took a suker like me thinking some people are actually honest. No i don't expect to drive it forever and not have a problem, but 5 months and then engine problems.i was just the sucker this time! But they won't get me again! Thats what i get for being honest!

I bought my first family car from Buchanans nearly 30 years ago. We drove that car 200 thousand more miles until my wife rear-ended somebody. I guess if I was like the original poster, I would complain because we "only" got 200,000 more miles out of our car and because my wife rear-ended somebody.

This is why I recommend buying from a more reputable dealer. Never buy an American made car used!

Hello? Did you not read the part where the dealer told her it was a known problem. They avoided telling her so she would buy the car... This is called unethical & dishonest. You might need to become more familiar with this concept.

I seriously seriously doubt she or he is the ONLY unhappy customer you have had. If its the same dealer I am thinking of my friend test drive a car there with a check engine light on & she was told it was a spark plug. Can we say bull $hit!

You would be upset if you got screwed too! Really?! Take owner ship?! You obviously cannot read. And no I'm not the original owner. I'm someone who knows how car dealerships like to screw over anyone they can manage to! Not all of them do that but most do! If they can find a sucked they will sucker you into whatever they possibly can! Like someone I know who bought what he thought was a "new" truck... Turns out it had a transmission problem they Conveniently forgot to mention! Really people come on!

When you buy a used car you are buying a pig in a polk. You don't know what is there, and yes the problem may have been existing but that doesn't know the dealer knew about it? He probably bought the car at auction, cleaned it, tuned it up, and set it out for sale. I bought a used mustang and the motor blew a few months later. I'm not on here complaining and blaming the dealer. Buy used and take a risk.

to be clear, I didn't buy the mustang from Buchanan's nor have I ever bought from them.. I have looked at cars there before though. Always seemed like a nice bunch.

I bought a used Chevy from a dealership. That's the last used car I will ever buy used unless its from a person I know & I know the person takes care of they're stuff!

Dipshit, you might want to re-read the post. They took it to a dealer as in new car dealer. Not Buchanan's.

By over torqueing the bolts three times what the specs require should have broke the bolts or pulled the threads off the bolt or pulled the threads out of the block . Just does not add up if the dealer told you that .

Most mechanics I know just LOVE to rag on ANY other mechanic's work. But Their work is Sparklie-Perfecto! Of course!
I've seen it many times. Take their criticisms with a grain of salt.

Sweetheart just because I said "dealer" doesn't mean I was talking about where it was purchased. Obviously you have a problem with turning one thing into another! I want you to go to your computer, once you figure out how to use it... Type In dealer... Omg what did you find? The definition stating many uses for the word Dealer. Hope this helps you out.
