My mom was having trouble walking and lifting her foot. Dr. Wiles performed surgery on her back. He should have found the cause with a routine scan before surgery. She had a brain tumor that was causing the problem. He missed it and performed a useless surgery on her back. At the time, we wondered if more tests should be done instead of cutting so quickly. Surgeons are not perfect people but this seemed beyond a simple mistake. I know several people who have had very successful surgeries performed by him. I just wanted to share our experience. I would urge anyone to get a second opinion before surgery!
But I bet he went on a really nice vacation!

I have to agree with the majority here. I had the privilege to visit this office ONE TIME. They treated me as a drug seeker and sent me on my way. I have degenerative disks, arthritis, and bulging disks stemming from an old injury. I am in too much pain for someone in their mid 20's. I didn't go there looking for pain meds, only relief and clarity of my back issues. My GP referred me to them and it was all about the money there, as stated. I guess since there is no need for surgery yet, they really didn't want to bother having me as a patient? I have tried physical therapy which was a money racket as well. I did get a few helpful tips on stretching though!-.-

I finally decided there was no help and I just live with pain, if you call it living. Does anyone else have issues such as this? Is there any kind of treatments or therapy that does work?
Can you go to the pain clinic that is at the red light where you turn to go to Old Navy? I can't remember the name but Dr Smythe is good as is his NP.

Any updates from previous posters to this thread? Did you go back? Did they help you? Have they improved? If not, who did help you?

I'm about to go to this place and now I'm nervous about it. What is this stimulator? I have lumbar and cervical problems. I also have large cysts in my brain and suffer cluster headaches. I have fibromyalgia. I have Graves disease. Rheumatology is looking at Lupus. I have myofasical pain syndrome as well. I'm in my 30s. I'm on medical leave due to flare up. I've done steriod injections. I've done epidural. I'm about to start physical therapy again. I tried a chiropractor and their untrained staff put me of my feet for 2 weeks because of deep tissues massage. I'm going to purchase my own tens unit. I take a boat load of meds without much relief. I'm not seeking drugs. I am desperate for firm diagnosis and a plan to manage my symptoms. Not just pain but numbness, brain fog, falls, insomnia, or too much sleep. I could go on and on. I'm going to change my diet radically too. I'm grasping at any straw that has the slightest glimer of hope for a plan to get some quality of life back. So if this place is not the place to go, where is the right place??? I had hoped that I could deal with my brain issues, back issues and fibromyalgia issues in the same place. BTW, they told me on the phone that they will help manage the fibromyalgia. Is that a lie? I'm so desperate for some coordinated care. Where should I go???

I went to East Tn Brain and Spine in Kingsport, I saw Dr. Coradino. He is awesome!! I had nerve pain going down both my legs for months, I was miserable and to the point that I could not deal with it anymore. I also have fibro, arthritis, multiple back issues, and neuropathy. I was in pain management so the only thing they helped with was some extra pain meds after surgery. I did have the surgery and that same night they got me up to walk. As soon as my feet hit the floor, no more nerve pain. I couldn't believe believe it....it was worth it!! I highly recommend them!!

The best way I can describe the stimulator is like a tens unit surgically implanted near your spine to help with chronic back pain.

I posted a lengthy reply to your question earlier, but unfortunately it didn't post. So here is the short version. I am a patient there. Dr Wiles is an excellent surgeon. He has helped me a great deal.I would not recommend the other surgeons, but this is from second hand information from friends and acquaintances. You will see PA's most of your visits. I like the PA's, but you have to rehash your problems from day one, because
you may see a different PA each visit. You can not request your follow up apt with the PA of your choice. I currently see Melissa White, NP. She does pain management. I really like her. The clinic staff ( nurses and medical assistants) are very nice. I have been a patient with ETBS for five years. The past year there has been some sort of change in front office personal. It has not been for the betterment of this practice. I have had difficulty with scheduling. Problems are not resolved in a timely matter. I have been spoken too in a belittling and demeaning way on two occasions now. I have had several others tell me they have been treated the same way. Today's experience being the worse the worse for me. I do emphasize, this is from front office staff only, not clinical.employs. There was a gentleman I spoke with today, and I use that term loosely, that spoke to me horribly. I so wanted to be belligerent to this man, but I bit my tongue. As much as I like Ms White and trust Dr Wiles, I may seek another group. I don't know if the treatment from certain front end staff is due to the stereotyping of pain management patients or if they are just rude and inconsiderate. I may be just too proud, but I can't be treated this way anymore. I have heard numerous complaints about how others have been treated by some of the front office staff. However, I can only speak for me. Maybe I am expecting too much, but their office use to be a pleasant interaction with all employs. I would suggest not to wear your heart on your sleeve if you decide to become a patient at this practice.

I'm 38 a wife and mom to 2 children. 12 & 4 I live with chronic debilitating back pain. ETBS (Dr.Fullagar) did back surgery on me 12-31-14 a month later I was still in just as much pain as before surgery. They did ECG nerve conduction study and found that I have permanent nerve damage. They say I'm too young for hardware fusion but want to implant spinal cord stimulator and take away pain meds. Well I refuse to have anything implanted in me nor do I want another surgery. So now I have to wait until 6-9-15 to see another pain clinic. I can't wait over 2 months. I can't physically function. Oh and they also told me I should file for disability. Anyone know anything about Wellmont Pain Management formerly Southeastern Pain Management??

Does it help with chronic pain without pain meds and can you feel it?

So happy I found this site. I have my first appointment on May 7th with Dr. Wiles. I was referred there by my regular physician.
I'm a little skeptical about this place after reading all of the negative comments. Is there anyone that can comment just on Dr. Wiles and his personal staff. Thanks

Stay away. I don't know any of the other doctors there but meeting a Dr. Fullager was enough for me. I have never met such a rude person in my life. His bedside manner and attitude is rediculous. I don't know how he has any patients to take care of with his personality. I have met rabid dogs nicer than that a##hole.
Hello I just got done seeing Dr.Fullager. it was one of the worst experiences of my life. My cardiologist sent me to him. Because I have bulged disc C4-C5 C5-C6 C6-C7 but to him it was minimal. I have headaches every day and my cardiologist says a lot of the pain in my chest is coming from my neck.
So now I have to go to a neurologist , I am so tired of the run around. I have Potts syndrome and I have worked as a C.N.A for over 20 yrs . He said why ar you not working now. I said how would you feel if I had your family member in the air and dropped them because of the pain or I passed out. He was the rudest Doctor I have ever encountered. I was not there for pain meds didn't even ask. I just want to be fixed. I am 39 yrs and feel so old. I just hope that one day they get to feel the humiliation that they make others feels.

Any more recent experiences with this group? My Dr has referred me to them, but I'm afraid to go now that I've read these posts! I have always had a good pain tolerance & when I finally say something hurts, it HURTS. I am on pain meds & they do help some, but I'm going through the disability process now & don't have insurance or any income so I imagine that they'll think I'm just a drug seeker since I can't afford to pay for any updated tests or surgery if they say I need it. I think my Dr is sending me to justify prescribing the pain meds. I'm afraid they'll treat me like a piece of crap drug addict who isn't willing to do anything to try and fix the problems, I only want the drugs but I'd definitely be willing to have surgery or whatever if I could, I just can't do anything right now. I'm stuck right now...without pain meds I couldn't function at all but I'm afraid my Dr won't keep prescribing them if he gets a bad report from them. I don't abuse them, don't get "high" from them, don't sell them, I genuinely need them to keep the pain at a semi-tolerable level. Hopefully I will be able to have surgery that will either fix the problems or at least relieve enough pain that I won't need the meds, but until I have income and/or insurance, I'm just stuck
