I was reading this and looked up the car online. The Rebel Flag is on the top of the car. The PC people need to leave us southerners alone. We are the first to enlist and stand for our country and we have the best Mommas in the world. That flag stands for southern pride not prejudice. The south is about front porch sittin, eating watemelon on a hot day, helping our friends and neighbors in time of trouble, adn so many other things.

When the Union destroyed the confederation the flag was destroyed with it. I am a firm believer in having pride in your heritage however the confederate flag is a symbol of a conquered nation. Find another symbol or flag to rally your cause. Perhaps the Tea Party would best be suited for your beliefs. They believe strongly in personal freedoms. Please do not fly your conquered ancestral symbol of freedom and I will not fly my conquered ancestral symbol of German aggression.

I don't agree with your comparison of the Confederacy to the Nazis. The Confederacy stood up to a tyrannical government and stood up for what they believed in. The Nazi's were manipulated into war buy a tyrant they were cowards to stand up to, huge difference.

<quoted text>Why is it anything having to do with the Confederacy is banned nowadays? For Jesse J and company it is free pickings. Few people realize slavery wasn't the core of the War, it was taxation of agricultural products(the south) vs; low inordinate tariffs for manufactured products (the north). Rabble rouses and the media try to portray the south as the cause of bad race relations. Where was the first race riot? New Jersey. The first public lynching of a Negro? New York city. The headquarters of the past Ku Klux Klan? Illinois. Do fools really think race relations are better any better up north? An overlooked matter of history: Lincoln only emancipated the slaves in the Confederate states, not the Union ones. And as for intolerance, the south is not nearly as racist as the north. I am proud of the Confederate flag. It is a sign of a people not willing to bow down to government oppression and dis-pare treatment, not a bandwagon being led by the media and some bleeding heart self appointed racist spokesmen. Can you say "Baby Daddy, Jesse?
You are so right, Not Gruntled, I'm glad there are so many supporting documents from the Southern states to prove your point.

For example, Mississippi's secession declaration, which states, "Our position is thoroughly identified with the institution of slavery the greatest material interest of the world a blow at slavery is a blow at commerce and civilization."

And Texas: "We hold as undeniable truths that the governments of the various States, and of the confederacy itself, were established exclusively by the white race, for themselves and their posterity; that the African race had no agency in their establishment; that they were rightfully held and regarded as an inferior and dependent race, and in that condition only could their existence in this country be rendered beneficial or tolerable."

In its secession declaration, South Carolina rails against the rights of other states, namely New York, to bar slave owners from legally transporting their "property" inside the boundaries of states where slavery was illegal.

Very well said. We all know the Southern economy was primarily fueled by slavery with a few exceptions but not limited to Eastern Tennessee. At the basic core the argument was economic freedom versus human freedom. East Tennessee was primarily a supporter of the union. This is well documented. The wealthy plantation owners exploited the poor white southern man to fight for their cause. This was not the case in East Tennessee. They were not influenced by the plantation owners.
