Yep, you are right about that. But, Clinton was opening up the candy store to buy votes for Nafta that would not have been there without it.
But, we must remember what NAFTA actually was all about...it was class warfare. The haves and the have nots.
So, the poor and middle class were sold out by heavily bribed and corrupt rich guys.
You see anything new in all of this? I dont.
It is also important to remember that the original NAFTA agreement was signed by George HW Bush. It was passed into law under Clinton. That is why it had republican support.

This problem was started with a Republican congress and a Democratic president. So where do we go from here? You people want to argue which came first the chicken or the egg. I would like for you to discuss how we can get out of the mess my generation has thrust upon the children. At this point both sides are guilty for our nations slow demise. If you are not a part of the solution then you are a part of the problem. Stop the bickering and get to work for the children's sake.

Ah yes, the children. The old democratic ploy to mask everything under the old "its for the children" trick. Its pretty effective on weak minded people, though.

But, you are entirely correct in that both parties have sold us out and continue to do so, and dont intend to stop.

But there is still a tiny glimmer of hope.

They are the Tea Party, and they have gone rogue on the republican establishment.

Like today, they threw a monkey wrench into the GOP "business as usual" crowd. Here is the story...

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/09/11/ho...

So, the Tea Party is proving to be a loose cannon in Congress. If they had been around in numbers 20 years ago, we might not have had to suffer Nafta. Think how many more people would have had good paying jobs today?

And then there are the libertarians, whom I sort of like as well.

But the democrats are in total lock step with socialism. We can expect no help or mercy from thier ranks.

Overall, I think the Tea Party and the Libertarians are our best bet. Now we voters just need to elect enough of them to be effective.

But the well greased political machines, the bought off news media, and voter apathy will be problematic for that. So I suppose it will be up to the interested and awake individuals to stir enough people up, so that they elect Tea Party and/or Libertarian politicians?

Its a long shot, but its about the best chance America has to avoid foundering under the corruption of the democrats and republicans.

I'd sure like to save the economy, but buying American is like fishing in a shrinking pond of bluegills when the big fish have it under control. I wish it were more simple. 35% of everything made in America has imported goods from 3rd world countries as the base. Just because something says "Made in America" doesn't mean the raw materials have come from here. Cheap Chinese steel, Oil that has changed hands thrice before arriving here (and some of same originated here), etc. The original poster has to take a look at reality. I'm not saying the good old USA couldn't be self sufficient, only saying that as long as corporations defy any loyalty to their country and thrive off the big money available from 3rd world countries, we have no choice as whom we support. Gone are the days of respect for your country as far as profits go. I'm not pointing fingers, but bets the OP has been to Walmart lately. Sure, it sux!

All of what you say is true. The people are intentionally dumbed down so as to be easier to control by the big shots that are raping America, and selling our future and putting the money in thier own pockets.

Americans wont stand up to "buy American". They are apathetic. They are brainwashed to think that nothing is any good unless it comes from a retail store.

Whatever happened to "home made" gifts? The ones made with the skill of a craftsman, and also love, that will work and be useful for generations?

A hand sewn quilt from grandma? A hand made wagon from grandpa?

The "modern" brainwashed people of todays America would likely turn up thier noses at them, andesteem a home made gift as being somehow inferior, while accepting some cheaply made junk from a Chinese sweat shop, as being acceptable.

Christmas presents being one good example.

The peoples thinking is backwards. They are apathetic, and quite frankly, they deserve the ruin that is settling upon them like a fog.

And unless they change thier thinking, it will only get worse and worse, and ever worse, until they are homeless and begging in the streets. And they will shiver in the cold, as they huddle in the rags of thier cheaply made Chinese coat.

Well, since there are children in school that werent even born back when Bush was in office, I suppose that there has been sufficient time elapsed in Obamas term for his economic policies to work, if they were ever going to work.

And so now, after tripling the national debt, getting our currency downgraded, and sending billions and billions of dollars to overseas recipients (and jobs too) with the ill advised "stimulus" packages...the economy is in worse shape than ever.

Team Obama rewrote the way that unemployment is tabulated. So last month, if 300,000 peoples unemployment ended because it expired, they are no longer counted.

And that actually made the unemployment rate go down!

Those people are still unemployed. They are just not counted.

And that seems to be Obamas solution to the failing economy, just invent new math, and lie about it.

And the kids in schools that werent even born when Bush was in office, will grow up in a much poorer land...even as the liberals continue to blame Bush and Fox news, for Obamas many failures.

Hillary 2016? She will continue with Obamas failed socialist ideas, no doubt.

And perhaps when these kids are graduating, and pushing a wheel barrow of millions of then worthless dollars to the store to beg for a loaf of bread...do you think they will still be blaming Bush and Fox News?

If, in your post, "OP" stood for Original Poster? Thats me. And yes, you busted me. I have been to Walmart and within the last 48 hours, Darnit! And yes, I knew that we can scarcely make anything entirely in the US. I've Ben screaming about this since 1984 that we were LOSING our manufacturing edge. A the time it was Japan who was killing us. Dr Edward Deming, an economist in the cabinet just after WWII took his skills to Japan for the reconstruction efforts and Japan listened, we Didnt.
Now ahat ever move we make must be ABSOLUTELY RADICAL. I was an engineer with VF Playwear for years. We could hang "made in America" logos on our clothing if we cut the cloth in Lenoir North Carolina, shipped it to sweat shops in Mexico and had it sewn there. Guess who set that up? THE US CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. I CALL THEM THE US CHAMBER OF TREASON. And they fund worms like Ron Ramsey to push through little tricks like this. Hey, if the people of the tri cities are that stupid, mtheynneed to be unemployed, then they need their food stamps ripped out from under them by the very snake that made them unemployed. Then ramsey gets them drug tested when their job goes to Mexico.(The money for the drug test goes into Diane Blacks hipusbands pocket. And the poor fool that voted for Ron Ramsey gets screwed by the same.....yes, Ron Ramsey does more fir employment in shanghai than he does this district.
But yes, I have been to walmart and I wish I could deny it. Ask me again next week

I appreciate your honesty OP. We are all guilty of the things you have fessed up to, and I am as guilty as anyone else, but what is a body to do? Nothing is truly all American anymore, not even Mom's Apple Pie, with apples from some half assed minor country, spices from Vietnam, and sugar from some other milky licking country. Oil imported at bloated prices while we export the same thing, and blame high prices on the same? What kills me is that the producers here in America have EVERYTHING needed to be self sufficient, and export with profit, yet we are bombarded with lousy imports. Like you said, if we all bought American we might be the pinnacle of the world again. But since greedy multinational corporations and the people who buy into it keep acting like they are now, we haven't a chance. Do you have a 401k? If so, you are just as guilty as the powers behind it all. I'm not saying the people of east Tn are any more guilty of being duped as the rest of the country. Just for the record........Walmart has mangoes on sale! See ya there! LOL. Sad but true.

And our own government is to blame for a lot of the demise of the American economy. With laws such as NAFTA (there are many such laws), and the governments all out attack on the small farmer, such as the "Food Safety" laws...

Ever notice how the politicos always cover the smell of these odious laws with some contrived BS excuse, such as..."Its for the children"...or "Its for safety"...or some other such drivel?

Whenever you see or hear a politicians saying that we need to pass some new law, and then gives a fake passionate speech along these lines...watch out. They are up to no good!

And now Obamas "Monsanto Protection Act", as critic call it...

http://rt.com/usa/monsanto-congress-silently-...

Yup, quietly placed into the law by Republicans, and signed by Obama and supported by many democrats.

Both parties are selling us out. The people are being betrayed by both parties. And both parties are working to destroy/outlaw/ban/ over-regulate and obliterate with mandatory paperwork...the small farmers.

It aint competition from overseas thats killing the small farmers economically...its our own government doing it.

Small farmers are independent and self sufficient...the last things the totalitarian corporate government of today wants.

That is why I like the Tea Party and he Libertarians. Maybe they will be better, maybe they wont. But the established democrats and republicans are so wrong, that it would hard to be any worse.

What will the immigration bill if passed that the big corporations are trying to push through do to any jobs and wages in the future? Is any working American citizen for this?

Well besides odious amounts of the usual fraud, waste, and pork barrel spending, there aere many other things hidden in the immigration bill, such as a MANDATORY biometric data base for all adults.

http://libertyblitzkrieg.com/2013/05/10/guess...

Want to go to open a bank account, attend a sports event, or even log onto the internet? You probably going to have to use the biometric thing..in other words, get permission from the government to do so.

Its another foundation for the "Mark of the Beast" as mentioned in the Christian Bible prophecy.

Similar to the RFD chip requirement hidden deep in the Obamacare law.

Bit by bit, these things are being quietly written into the tiny details of these laws. Bit by bit they will come together, and suddenly, it will all be law (just not all in the same law).

And, of course, the state owned news media isnt reporting these things.

And, of course, what we do see the media reporting is politicians in front of a camera doing the usual hand wringing, and faked impassioned speeches telling us how we need the law passed..."For the Children", or "For Safety", or some of the other usual BS false excuses and hype.
