Dish Network is about to drop WJHL from their programming. They are blaming WJHL, and WJHL is blaming them. As a customer / viewer, I do not want to be placed in the middle of their feud! I don't care about who's to blame; I just want my shows without the hassle! If WJHL is dropped, I will have to change companies because many of my favorite shows are on WJHL. However, I will stop watching their news channel because they have played a part in this inconvenience and undue stress!

I doubt they will drop WJHL. I think their just looking for customer response so they will have a reason to raise the price.

Dish won't drop CBS.....they will simply pick up a local like NYC, or Nashville ( like they did before the local channels were on ), whoever will give them the best price for the CBS feed.

WJHL is simply being stupid ( surprise huh ?)....their cost to operate is going to be the same whether they get revenue from Dish or not....so you'd think they would be happy to get SOMETHING versus getting nothing.

I'm sure the CBS station in Fargo, North Dakota will deal....ahahahahaaaaa

So, as of this morning, all Dish is showing is a screen that says WJHL is holding out for 4 times what everybody else gets. I called Dish and asked if they planned to pick up another CBS feed, and was told not at this time....

AND "if you have an internet connection, you can get the national CBS shows online"

To which I responded: "And WHY then do I need Dish ?"

She quickly came back with: "Well, I'm certain they will work it out quickly, or get another CBS feed....but in the mean time, I will give you $5 credit on your bill for the next 3 months".

SO, EVERYBODY call Dish ( 1-800-333-DISH ) and get your $15 off your bill, at a minimum.
Glad WJHL is one

You can pick up WJHL in high def for free with rabbit ears or an antenna. I would rather do that than have WJHL's price hike impact my rate with Dish. Dish is great and I am glad that they will take a stand when needed.

Aw, there will be a replacement for WJHL. Since they report mostly the news from Kingsport and Bristol, I don't think we will be missing much as far as news goes. Some other CBS affiliate will take their place so you can all watch the continuous stuff. Just in case you want news about Johnson City, just tune in to the Kingsport or Bristol news programs. I dumped Dish a long time ago, so I have no horse in this race. As long as I can get Me tv for free, I don't care if WJHL and Dish fight it out.

Great Idea! Good to call them on it. Let them fight it out and let us get something out of it! I really don't know which side is holding out, but your suggestion is golden! Thanx!

The only reason to get WJHL is for the CBS lineup, particularly the NFL. How much to add a national CBS station to Dish package? I like DISH and don;t want to switch to DirectTV, becasue Direct is more expensive.

I am tired of getting gouged every time I turn around. WJHL receives most of its money from advertisements and should not be asking for a 3x increase. They have at least 20 minutes of advertisements in a 1 hour show. Any increase would be passed on to me in a higher DISH charge. I hope DISH adds another CBS affiliate and I would not even miss WHJL. I intend to get an air antenna and hook it up. So WJHL you can "stuff it"

I tried switching to directv yesterday and they made all these claims about equipment and pricing and when they came to install it was all lies. I would go to cable before I would get directv. I told them to cancel the order and refund my money.

I know their ads are pure bait and switch. I called after getting an ad in the mail, and it stated 19.95/mo, or something along that line....and by the time it was done, they were 10 bucks/mo higher than Dish for apples to apples comparison.

I figure if they start off with pure baloney, it sure isn't gonna get any better down the road.

They gave me three Mo's of free HBO, Showtime and Cinemax free. They said it was for any inconvenience with the loss of Ch. 11
