ETS Flashing Signs

I just read that ETSU has installed twenty flashing signs at crosswalks with a cost of $1500 ea. They say they also plan on installing twenty more. this equates to about $60,000.
The thing that bothers me the most is when I went to school back in prehistoric times, I as well as all my frst grade classmates had been taught to look both ways before crossing the street. I have to wonder if it is the ETSU Faculity or the Students that need help crossing the streets now. What will be next crossing Guards with little signs.
Remember these are the leaders of the future being taught.

The flashing signs aren't for pedestrians needing help crossing streets. They're for drivers who don't pay attention to crosswalks.

Duh. Good thing Frank isn't a leader of the future. Lol

Just another example of how easy it is for ETSU to waste the taxpayer's money.

Nobody you figured it out. They can't pay a decent salary but can waste money like this. To Just Saying and agreed try driving through there during class change times and stay under 15mph and count how many times a what is susposed to be adult walks out in front of you from between cars as though they are daring you to hit them. If they do not know to use crosswalks and not walk out in front of a moving car, they don't have enough sense to be in college.

Well, it's not like they have much choice.
There have been a lot of on campus accidents and several people have been hit recently. Fortunately, mostly only minor injuries. There is the issue of lawsuits, etc.
Why have there been so many problems??
Just another result of a dumbed down society.
Drivers are not paying attention because they are trying to text and drive and talk on their cell phones at the came time.
In addition, drivers are not polite any longer. They don't feel as if the rules apply to them and they try to go past the crosswalks without stopping just because they don't want to. It's called being rude..and people are more rude and don't care anymore.
A lot of the Pedestrians aren't paying attention also because they are looking at their phones and tablets while walking all at the same time.
This didn't used to be a problem, but it is a big problem now. They are trying to prevent somebody from being killed or very seriously injured..and people are not going to change their new technological habits or suddenly start being polite again.
Just come on campus and walk around mid day during the week and you will see that I am dead on right.

Yep, Kiddies, put the stupid I-Phone up once in a while and pay attention to what you are doing!!! The World will not end if you don't look at it for 5 minutes. However, it might end for you if you don't start putting it aside a bit while you are on the move.

Frank you complain way too much. if you're not griping about a restaurant, you're whining about flashing signs. Switch to decaf and drink lots of green tea to purge the free radicals.
