Franklin woods sucks, especially if you are self-employed and don't have health insurance

If that's the case, every hospital in the country sucks, but that doesn't make Franklin Woods any worse than any other hospital if that's the standard you're using to judge.

I believe it depends on which dr or PA sees you. I have rheumatiod Arthritis and was in FWH for two weeks back in Sept with pneumonia. I actually had a PA offer me Tylenol for my pain. Tylenol is not even in my vocabulary. An attending came in and said were gonna give you Dilauid which is usually what it takes for my pain associated with pneumonia or my flare ups. While I was in the hospital, I could not have ask for better care from which I got from the nursing staff. They were wonderful. The main thing I get irritated over is most of the ER PA's and Dr's do not understand alot of rheumatiod situations. As much as me and my husband try to explain to them, most of them just brush me off like Im lying. Before I was admitted I had to the ER three times in two days and the first trip, the PA's first words were," We do not treat chronic pain." I was just giving him the info on what I was doing. Finally the third time a Doctor said lets do a chest xray and the pneumonia had almost covered my entire right lung. I tried and tried to explain that my immune system was weakened due to the meds I was on so my body did not give sympthoms. I had no fever, a normal white blood count,no wheezing, etc but I was really sick and thought I was going to die before a dr actually had some knowledge on this disease and said lets do an xray. I have had good, wonderful, bad and horrible times at several hospital around here. I actually had a PA tell my husband that he thought alot of the stuff was in my head. Talk about angry... Its like a coin toss when you go to the er. You dont know who your gonna get.

I understand your problem, Kimbro. I think part of the problem you have in the ER stems from the large number of drug seekers that frequent emergency rooms. Understandably, health care professionals have to be cautious. Unfortunately, people with real pain sometimes pay the price.

Their ER staff is awful and very uncaring.

A few of those nurses in ICU need to worry more about caring for the patients and less about standing around gossiping and lying. Maybe, a little caffeine would help that one with her laziness.

Hey big Daddy, healthcare is never free. If you don't have to pay for it, somebody else does.
