Time for a change

Graybeal has been sheriff over ten years and that's long enough! I'm for term limits and it's time for a change, nothing personal against Graybeal.

Craig Ford was sure critical of Graybeal. Problem is Ford has had his share of concerns with Jonesborough Police. Baggage can both ways.
True, I know a lot of dirt on the steroid freak that was a sergeant at Jonesborough PD. He is in Federal Prison now. Big supplier and a hulk of a man. Craig Ford had to have known what was going on. If he didnt he is guilty of deliberate indifference. All of us living in Jonesborough knew but somehow Craig Ford turned a blind eye to this Behemoth of a man, no matter what he did. People can say whatever but we all know Mr Ford.

Who was the sergeant and does he now work for Shooters Edge? I have heard rumors from men who work at the Johnson City Power Board who said everyone knew about the homemade illegal substance being made and sold(heard many were using it)? Does not do much for Ford's Credibility. Good question from poster- since young Graybeal was working for department before elder Graybeal became Sheriff does that mean Mike will have to move on? And Craig Ford in his created duplicate position in Jonesborough - did he have any part in Uncle Dale's created position? Much waste of taxpayer's dollars in Jonesborough.

You guys from the sheriff's department that love no leadership cracks me up! Craig Ford assisted with the authorities as soon as he found out. Then he fired Sergeant, period. He didn't try and cover up or hide the fact someone within his department broke the law. What about a certain Major stealing time on his time sheets at the Sheriff's Department? Or a certain person having someone fired because he didn't want to date her? The sheriff has yet to even write anyone up for 5 deaths of inmates in the sheriff's care. Let's talk about your sheriff rescuing your cheif deputy from a DUI. Having to pick him up at the hospital before going to jail. Does everyone get a free DUI? It's funny you don't think the public knows about this but people are looking into right now. By the way, that's illegal!!! We have got to get some leadership in our county sheriff's department.
SROs a priority

I could care less about personal attacks on both candidates. I became interested when I heard about the current sherriff not filling out paperwork for a grant that would have given $500 thousand dollars for School Safety Officers to protect our schools. The current school officers are spread way too thin. Just this week an issue at Sulphur Springs school escalated into a lockdown when a child's custody and parents threatened violence, and no safety officer at the school! I want my grandchildren to feel safe at school and if he's not going to do all he can and at the same time save taxpayers money, it's time for a change! SRO's should be a high priority!

graybeal said earlier he didn't apply for the grant because it was a short term grant that the locality would have had to have founded on its on. sro's don't you read what these people say? maybe you could get permission to be a volunteer sro @ ur grandchildren's school. i am serious.

Will granny get to carry a gun as an SRO? I certainly hope not and doubt she would be very effective against a crazed shooter like the one at Sandy Hook and other places. Granny may shoot first and ask questions later. Seriously is that what you want at schools? Short term or long term, it seems like any money would have helped!

That's not exactly what I had in mind to protect my grandchildren at school. While it is apparent learning to read was and still is a major accomplishment in your life, you are not a trained School Resource Officer. Allowing random parents, grandparents and great grandparents to patrol schools with a weapon is a receipe for disaster. I do appreciate you wanting to save taxpayers money, but if having volunteer SRO's is the best we can do, I'll take the current plan of just a few of them.

an economics degree including govt & public policy might fit that bill. we certainly don't seem to want our retired military men & women or god forbid a female state trooper or police officer. my my my the issue is the sheriff's race & how graybeal avoided obama's unfunded mandate for sro's. after the grant ran out taxes would have had to raise to pay that salary & benefit package in every washinton county school

Thank you for making a comment without questioning someone's reading ability. I have master's degrees in both education and education supervision. You can bet I'm concerned with protecting schools. I have no problem with retired military, police officers, etc. working as SROs, as long as they go through a School Resource Officer training program. That should also include background checks to determine whether they could work with children. Did Johnson City schools accept this grant? What did other counties or school systems do that accepted this grant when money ran out? I'm all for saving taxpayer's money, but not at the expense of the safety of our children!

do u have a point to make about the sheriff's race or just personal attacks against those who understand there is no free federal money. china & india own the usa ask roger clites. taxes come from overburdened individuals pat wolf can't just throw out monopoly money to pay for an unfunded obama federal short term grant. that just isn't in the budget unless u want 2 pay more taxes. & 4 the record the actor who played bodine ended up quite rich . hubbie & I BOTH WENT TO UTK MEMPHIS & ETSU W lifetime honors society memberships in my fields. i don't belittle mtn people &don't recomend you continue to do so they're smarter than u r.

He worked with the authorities as soon as he found out? See that is the problem. Mr Ford was this man's supervisor for over three years. The Sgt. Lived in a two hundred thousand dollar house, he had a brand hammer new mustang tweaked out to the max, a brand new Susuki Hyabusa tricked out all on 13 dollars an hour? There were no red flags there huh? Yeah I am sure Mr Ford was more than willing to work with the authorities after the facts that were oblivious to him were shoved in his face. Washington County does not and can not have a man like Craig Ford running a large department. He couldn't recognize this problem with only 18 employees? I

Sgt Muscle was not fired over the federal investigation. He resigned three months prior for shopping at Walmart in Johnson City while on duty. You either are lying or naive to the facts. Do not believe everything you hear. Check my facts.
