Just wondering what is going on with "Net trans" and why they are offering "severence" packages to 13 employees. They are not saying why but it sounds like something is not right.

If what you're saying is accurate it may be because they've been hiring perverts to drive kids around. Recently one of their drivers was arrested after having sex with a boy he was supposed to be driving to the doctor. Netrans gets cushy government contracts and gives the jobs to their criminal buddies in my opinion. Just what this area needs. Felons driving kids and old folks around looking for an opportunity to steal or worse. Severence? They should fired, lose their contract with the state and be prosecuted.

The source was Channel 11 and the Johnson City Press. Its was also on the radio and then the story just disappeared. Even people on the Board of Directors didn't know they had offered severence packages to each of the 13 emloyees. They offered them $500.oo for each year worked. At least one of them was 69 yr old. Why would you offer someone a severence package when they should be retired anyway? And where does the money come from?

The money will come from the operating budget. It takes away from money to provide services. I politely disagree on your opinion a 69 y/o should be retired anyway. There have been several pushes to increase the retirement age for social security from 65 to 70 with life expectancy rates increasing. If a 69 y/o is still in good health and good at their job, more power to them. You may find yourself in that situation when you turn 69.

Let me rephrase that. I did not mean it like that. I agree if someone is in good health past 65, they should still be working if they choose to work. I meant that if they are past 65, I don't think the state should offer them a severence package for every year they worked past 65. At 65, Social Security kicks in along with medicare.
But you will never hear any more about it. I would assume it will be swept under the table and kept SECRET like everything else.
A SCANDAL is always kept secret..........nobody has the nerve to ask about it.

Ok, I understand what you meant. By the way, it wasn't the state that offered that package. FTHRA just receives grants from the state and feds. FTHRA is a non-profit. The FTHRA Executive Director offered the incentive package because he is either too incompetent to figure out how to cut non essential staff or he lacks to balls to do so.
