... and isn't it strangely funny how most of those panhandlers/beggars are either talking on a cell phone, or smoking a cigarette simultaneously as they're holding up their "money pleading" signs. Hmmm... wonder how they can afford to have a cellphone and/or cigarettes.
Seems to me that the citizens who are sympathetic enough to throw those pandhandlers/beggars money are simply paying for those cellphones/cigarettes.

Vicki, you sound like you may be one of the few honest ones, and I wish you the best of luck.
Unfortunately, the majority of the panhandlers seem to be dishonest and/or scammers; especially the ones that hang out at the shopping lots like Walmart, Kmart, JC Mall, etc. I recently gave a few dollars to a panhandler over at the Walmart entrance. She (the panhandler) said she needed the money for gas, food & necessities. Shortly thereafter, I saw her get into a car with a few other people (other panhandlers?) and they were all smoking cigarettes & yacking on their cell phones. I was pissed off! My contribution wasn't meant for the panhandler to finance her cell phone/cigarettes.
No I refuse to even give a nickel to any pandhandler... not one!
Probably 9 out of 10 of them are scamming, dishonest people... and that ruins it for the good ones that you seem to be. You can blame those scamming panhandlers for hindering your needs.

Quit supporting those panhandlers. You're simply supplying them money for their drugs & cigarettes.

Can't believe how many people are suckers and just give those scammers what they ask for. Those panhandlers are great actors and play on your sympathy.

Matthew 25:40 says: "The King will reply,'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'

I truly try to live by that and when asked, if I can help, I will. Yes, with cash. Or bottled water, or food...but usually cash is what I have on me.

But boy, have I been burned a ton of times here in JC. For example, the well-groomed, decently dressed "Veteran" who came up to me, showed me identification (no, I didn't ask, he just showed it). He ran out of gas and needed money to get a gas can and enough fuel to get to the VA Med Center. We were at a gas station and, well I gave him $20. Well, after proceeding to "bless" me, he turned towards the gas station store where he said he was going to get a red gas can, then proceeded to walk right by it, smiling hugely and pumping his fist like he just scored a winning goal. lol

Then there's this couple that walks around...I run into them on S. Roan all the time. The guy is tall and lean. He has one eye higher than the other. She's got short, always trimmed hair. They are all the time asking me for money, which I had given a couple of times. But you know, they're constantly wearing new clothes. She's always in a very clean dress of some sort. They usually seem pretty clean. Just not the type you'd think would be panhandling. He rode up to me on a bike one time.

I've been approached by people on Watauga, at Wal Mart, at more gas stations than you care to name. Yeah. I'm the guy with "SUCKER" written across my face. But what are you supposed to do?

I was homeless. I sobered up.i held jobs for 25 mos, went to college last year for free, this year I got a 3rd deg Brn. Belt karate. My boy turned 4 and I have a nice job at menards.some family is dying and life is expensive, but I know The Lord better and do not want to be outside when it gets -26 outside.i live a peaceful life by conforming and not being too wreck less.everyone should spend as much time with those you know before it is too late.these days I have no regrets.but for a while I did and I was sorry for many things.i have changed.the roles have reversed.people I have needed now come to me.they hurt too.i had to straighten up so I could help others.i never knew I could be on the carefree highway, get off on the exit and become a volunteer firefighter.my grandmother was my mother.now she is on life support.her son died two years ago.people may judge me but this year I became a 3rd deg. Mason.i lost touch with veterans groups cuz the war is over.and I get tired of being judged at church.i get home churched when I can.keep money in your pocket.after a while I lose touch with people and just meet new ones.i used to be lonely but you just gotta suck it up.it kept Rambo alive
