If you are lookin to buy a car then stay away from this place! The salesman jeremy johnson and the sales manager Hunter are couple of rude a$$ crooks. Me and my wife filled out a few credit apps and all of a sudden we owned a car we didnt want. We tryed to give the car back and they started saying that they could sue us! I guess i make the mistake of telling them we had 7k to pay down on a car. All they seen was money.

I had a very unique experience purchasing 2 cars this week from Carl Gregory of Johnson City, Tn. I was an observer instead of the people buying the cars. We spotted a car on craigslist that my mom was interested in. I called the salesman listed on the ad, Mark Guyer. I was told he would call me right back that he was with a customer. He didn't even ask for a name or phone number I assumed he had caller ID. After not hearing from him for several hours we decided to drive over and look at the car in person. We arrived and found the vehicle on our own. We noticed there were no sales people anywhere in sight. But we did notice four other sets of customers wondering around looking for someone to help them. I told mom they must not need to sale any cars. Finally after wondering around for 15 minutes we heard the sale people being paged to the lot. We were greated by a nice enough guy named Steve Roop. He seemed not to know anything about any the vehicles we had questions about. My mom would ask a question and he would say I have to check then I would answer the question for her from my research online prior to leaving home. She drove a couple of vehicles and found one she liked. We went inside to see the numbers. First thing they do is ask her to give them permission to run her credit. Which I found a little odd since she was only wanting to know how much they wanted for the car. They came back with a number that was more than she was interested in paying for a vehicle. Of coarse they respond with well what would you like to pay for this car. Numbers flew back and forth. She wasn't happy with amount they wanted to give her for her trade in. She told them that she knew her sister was interested in the car and wanted to speak to her before making any commitments. Another salesman joined into the negotiations named Mark Guyer. Yes that is right the person who was suppose to call us right back and by the way he told me that 5 days ago and still hasn't called. He told her that what he was offering for her car was going to be a good offer when considering the tax savings with trading. She told him she would rather just sale the car to her sister. This went back and forth several times with her telling him she had to talk to her sister before doing anything. Mark Guyer then tells her that if she would go ahead and commit to buying the car, if her sister wanted the trade she could have it for the same amount as he was offering her. Yes red flags went up immediately, but my thought was maybe they really want to sale this car enough to be willing to do this for her. We told the two saleman that we had to take the children and get them something to eat and she would contact them back about buying the car. Mark Guyer said go put the car seats in the vehicle you are interested in and take it to eat then return afterwards. We both said that this would be way too much work moving car seats but Mark Guyer kept pushing us to take the vehicle. He followed us out the door still saying to take the vehicle. We refused even after all the pushing. We went to eat. At dinner we discussed that she might as well trade the car so we didn't have to deal with selling it ourselves. Since they were willing to sale the car back to her sister at the same price she would not have to worry about the fact that she could not get in touch with her. The car deal happened, she bought the car from the two smiling, nice car salesmen.

The next day her sister contacted us wanting to buy the car. We told her what they had said. I warned her that she should expect to pay the 399 dollar "admin fee" and taxes ontop of the price mom had traded for. We called and was told Steve Roop was with a customer and would call us back. Several hours passed and I called back again directly to Steve Roop's cell phone. He answered and said he thought they had sold the vehicle but he would check and call back the next morning at 9 am. The next morning came and there was no call. At noon I called him and was told the car was sold. No problem that is just how life goes. The next day my mom recieved another call from Steve Roop saying the person did not show up to buy the car and if we wanted to purchase it to come in at 9 am the next morning. He also mentioned the car had been through an inspection and gotten 2 new tires put on. I picked up my aunt took her into the dealership. Before going in I warned her again not to expect the exact price mom got for the trade because I was sure they would want to charge the 399 "admin fee" and taxes plus the cost of the tires. We were told the car would now be almost 1800 dollars more than what it was traded for plus the 399 and taxes. I confronted them with the fact that Mark Guyer had told mom it would be available for the trade price.(I did not get the salesman name that was helping us at this point.) They asked what we felt would be fair. I added 300 dollars to the trade price for the tires which was genourous for the size tire the car had on it. This did not include the 399 or the taxes of coarse. They did not like that price. I complained further and pointed out Mark Guyer who had told my mom he would sale the car to her sister for the amount she traded it in at. He came over and boy was I in for a surprise. The smiling car salesman from Saturday turned into a rude, condescending, narcissistic person. He didn't even start out with hello how can I help. He went straight into "I told your mom we would sale her sister the car, not that it would be the same price as she traded it for. We went back and forth with him saying he would have never made that promise. A sales manager stepped over and started right off defending Mark Guyer. That he would not say that to a customer. He offered for my mom to return her new car and pretend the deal never happened. I of coarse could not speak for her on that matter. I continued to express my concern about Mark Guyer telling her an untruth to get her to trade her car. Mark Guyer continued to basically call me a liar. The sales manager then mentioned that on the day my mom traded Mark Guyer had asked him if they could give the car to her sister for the trade in price and was told no. I asked the sales manager if he found it odd that he was asked that and now he has a customer in here saying that very thing. Coincidence? I don't think so. After that the sale manager admitted he was not there when the comments were made so he could not say what was said but the price he was giving her was only covering the work they had done to the vehicle. He then asked if she wanted it for 1500 dollars more than the trade out the door including all fees and taxes. I told her she had to make that decision for herself. She did take the car at that price only because she knew the car's history and that it was a dependable vehicle.
I completely understand that Carl Gregory is not a non profit. I even defend their 399 "admin fee" to the rest of my family who call it a screw me fee. But when a car salesman like Mark Guyer says he will do something it should be the truth. I am sure he was betting on her sister not returning for the car. Come to find out Mark Guyer is the #1 sales person for Carl Gregory so I am sure noone at Carl Gregory is going to go against him. That is why posting this so people know what to expect.

just a mom.. we get it, you're pissed, they're liars, etc. I agree with you, and you are right. I will never buy a car from them from a bad experience too.

Digging up every Carl Gregory thread and posting your same story on everyone isn't getting you anywhere. I'll post this on your other three so you get the point.
