Arrogant? How about self serving and priviliged. Ms. Myron you ought to be ashamed of yourself. Miss a meeting? What's the matter, you spent too much time at Evergreen shopping for plants? No, you were probably in a hurry to get home to your garden. And if, like you say, you weren't trying to take advantage of you being the mayor then why did you bring it up? You broke the law, suck it up and pay your fine. A hill is not an excuse to go 20 miles over the limit. I shop at Evergreen too and I don't have to haul a** to get out onto the road. You're the mayor for pete's sake show some respect for our laws.

If it had been a "regular citizen" that acted that way toward a cop, we would be making bail after being arrested, not paying a traffic fine.

Count your blessings "Madam Mayor"

My hats off to the officer who gave her the ticket. Just imagine how many other times she has been pulled over and gotten off.

Ladies and Gentlemen, these are the people you have put into office. They have their own agenda and want the officers of Johnson City to write as many tickets as possible to generate revenue so they can build 5 million dollar football stadiums with $300,000 electronic scoreboards and a 60 million dollar community center all during a time of recession. This on top of the the city manager, Pete Peterson's, decision to stop all raises for public safety workers year after year after year citing the budget constraints. Not only have there been no raises in years, they have frozen career ladders, and are attempting to take away the city funded retirement plan. Re-elect Myron, Banyas, Carriger, Walker, and Darden so they can build more multi million dollar parks and schools. All while they cut the public safety budget and put less officers and fire fighters on the road to protect you. Then the few officers we do have are pushed into writing more tickets to fund the big raise the city manager received this year when raises for the rest of the city were frozen. How would you like to work a job for 8 years and be at the same rate of pay as the new guy? Citizens of Johnson City, support your public safety workers and all city employees!

If this is true, the citizens of Johnson City need to seek answers as to why this is being allowed to happen. I have daughters and grandchildren who live in JC and if their safety is being compromised so these obvious arrogant city leaders can fund their pet projects, I will use all of my will to see they never see the inside of the commission chambers after the next election. I am getting tired of pompous politicians feeding us lie after lie so they can fulfill some egotistical attempt at power.

Typical Johnson City. The pay situation has been that way for decades now. If the leader of the city cannot give his employees a raise he should not take one himself. You lead by example.
As for the Mayor's ticket, I hope she enjoys it and the Press obtains where she paid it or not, or if it is dismissed ?? Wonder if it felt as good as the people getting the red light tickets ?? I hope so.

After viewing the video of the dashcam I am even more incensed at the mayors behavior. She was very obviously trying to throw her "weight" around.(snickers) Oh , I can't tolerate people who think their "sh*t" don't stink. This lady clearly carries her nose up in the air but her head is really up her A$$.

"Who is your watch commander?"

When she asked that, she was lucky the officer didn't stick the ticket straight up her rear.

Really shameful, arrogant conduct from the mayor.

And if the city commission can't fund a measly raise for public safety employees, yet give the city manager raise, well, they all need to be voted out -- if only people pay attention.

It's all true. The commissioners and Pete Peterson, the city manager, hate their employees. They refuse them raises. They slash their retirements. And they cut their equipment. Have you seen some of the cars the police department are driving and some of the equipment the fire department uses? If you really support your city workers and your police and fire departments, vote the entire commission out next election and support the termination of city manager Pete Peterson. The citizens have no idea the salary he earns, insurance, vehicle allowance, cell phone, all to hide away money so that police officers have to go bankrupt because they haven't had in a raise in years. If you want to keep good educated public safety workers in our city something needs to be done. It's not fair for Johnson City school system custodians to make the same as police officers.

I believe she wants to go to court because she can call the judge up and have him throw it out.I guess we have to wait and see. She had better pay court cost to. And all other fees they hit you with.

Don't Hold Your Breath. Most folks are right we need to vote every last one of them out of office when they come up for reelection. Or see if there can be a recall or impeachment election. They can refuse employees raises, implement red light cameras and speed cameras, contracted to a company that is located out of the country. If these tickets were legal why would they be sending notices of being turned over to a collection agency. Why would you not be charged with failing to take care of it and your drivers Lisence revoked ?? Want to bet the Officer is still working this time in a year from now. They will wait till everything quiets down and then make it so bad he has to quit, or will be fired for some reason. Last is if a camera issuing aticket to you is ok why is a ticket issued to the Mayor by a Officer not ok ????

I saw Chief Lowry on the news stating that he reviewed the video of the traffic stop and saw "nothing out of the ordinary." Really? Someone exiting her car and approaching the officer's car is not out of the ordinary? That is extremely reckless behavior by the Mayor and endangered not only her safety but the safety of the officer as well. You never get out of your car during a traffic stop and approach the officer's car unless instructed to do so.

I dont think the law says so but it is always a good idea to stay in the car with both hands on the wheel where the officer can see them and have your window rolled down. Only get out of the car if you are instructed to do so.

Thanks. I only roll my window down far enough to get my licence and registration through. I did have an officer pull a gun when I reached for my registration once at night. I guess I should have told him first what I was going to do. I don't know who was scared the most, him or me.

wouldnt you have loved to see a good episode of cops happen.. you know the one where the officer grabs them and slams them into the back of their vehicle and cuffs them? Would have been worth every penny to watch her face meet the back windshield.

I'll go yas one better. When I lived in a bigger city, I was stopped and was sitting on my trunk talking to the backup that came (he was plainclothes). The officer that stopped me wanted to look in the trunk so I told the backup "go ahead, the keys are in the ignition". He hopped in and next thing I hear is "GET OUT OF THE F***IN CAR!!" and the guy that stopped me had his gun shoved into the other policeman's ear. He forgot who he had stopped and who was his backup. I mean I was 22, the backup was 40 or so, Im bout 5'7 the backup was bout 6'1, I had a beard. The resemblance was just uncanny. Needless to say, I went home and immediately changed undewear.
