Alright, many of you posters consider Reagan as the last great president. I say bullshit! That poor old Alzheimer dude was nothing more than a mouthpiece for the corporations, no more, no less. What kind of citizens elect an actor, especially a second grade one? Don't give me that jive about him being an all American hero. Fact is, he was just a puppet on a string. An actor, and his last curtain call came too late. Come on, he was married to Nancy, doesn't that give you a hint? He was known to consult astrologers on her behalf. What kind of hero is that? The old bastard was just a mouthpiece for corporate control. The father of corporate control. His old " I don't recall" bail out worked for him.
Can't you sane folk realize, he was just a Muppet?
Kinda off topic, but realize, jokers like McCain, Bush sr. were "fighter pilots".....meaning dad set them up good in the military. Both of those dumb asses got shot down. Anyhow, I regress...our "heroes" are just paper tigers. Is there an honest politician out there?

Actually, Bush, Sr. was a bomber pilot, which was very dangerous during WW2. Just check the story of the Memphis Belle. And McCain was shot down and captured. He spent some time at the infamous Hanoi Hilton as a POW. Whether you agree with his politics or not, which I sometimes don't, that makes him a genuine badass, just like the other POW's. I do agree with you on Reagan. If you look at how many indictments, convictions, and official investigations there were against Reagan administration officials, it's easy to see that Reagan ran the most corrupt presidential administration in history. He was a great speaker, but was as crooked as a dogs hind leg.

Agree...it was Bush Jr who was pampered in the military just to have it in his background to use for future political office.

There was more to their service in the military than that. There was a firmly held belief around the Ivy League group closest to the Bush family that serving in the military, and putting ones life at risk, was important. When WW2 began one of their closest advisors had never served in the military. At age 40 he joined the army and went through basic training. He didn't want it held over his head that he didn't know what he was talking about when it came to giving orders, or implementing policy, that affected the soldiers. You may not think they are real men but in my book being a community organizer hardly qualifies either.

Since Bush was the son of a senator, he got to pick and choose his own assignment in the Navy. As did JFK and many other rich kids. All it took was a string pulled and suddenly they got what they wanted. How many of these "heroes" actually were drafted or served in the infantry? As for the Ivy League gang, who needed an advisor anyhow? Who was this mystery man? But back to Reagan......and his advisor, aka: Nancy. Reagan was just a stuffed suit and part of a ventriloquist act played by corporate big dogs. Do you really think Gorbachev tore down the wall just because Reagan said to?

Possibly, but is fact that Bush Jr served in the TX Air National Guard during the Vietnam era, however, was never deployed outside the U.S.(most probably due to his connected Daddy). He also had issues maintaining his flying status due to him not completing and maintaining all of the necessary pilot requirements.

And many 100's of thousands of men were stationed in Germany and other less glamourous places including stateside, and never stepped foot in Veitnam or SE Asia. Many hundreds of thousands more were in the national guard here were never near combat either. All of those men couldn't possibly come from wealth. Sounds to me like you posters simply resent the privileged backgrounds of some people.

What kind of people elect a social organizer with no experience? Ah, that would be Americans. You've got the reasoning of a 5 year old.

That's true, but did they have a guarantee or choice? It was luck of the draw. Bet if you could compare percentages in proportion to the wealthy vs. the common folk involved you would discover how money and power talk.
Yes, I do resent the privileged people, especially when they are considered heroes and get all the honey.

There's plenty of honey out there, go out and get your own. Why does someone have to give you your honey? If you resent prosperity, what the hell do you respect - charity?

Quit trying to bend my words, Pop. Pitiful when people have to do that. Who do you think you are, a politician? That's one of their traits. I have nothing against prosperity, just the automatic privilege to it for the crooks and users. Rich men start the wars, the common man fights them. Rich kids go to law school, a poor man goes to work. I respect prosperity only if it is gotten by honest labor, not by manipulation or inherited from a long line of crooked parents. Not many people meet those qualifications, especially politicians.

It is a known fact that the Reagan's routinely consulted astrologists. They did follow the guidance of these people. And Reagan did surround himself with some very corrupt people, which made for the most corrupt administration in history. Throw in Iran-Contra, which of course Reagan lied about having knowledge of. And in case you didn't read the topic, this discussion has nothing to do with Obama.

The Obamas worship the Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity.

Obama's administration has spied on Americans, lied repeatedly during Congressional hearings, used its influence to inhibit opposing groups, stonewalled investigations that would ultimately show his incompetence, and yet, not one person has been held accountable.

Obama has overseen drastic increases in corporate subsidies, national debt, cost-of-living, food stamp participation, college tuition, homelessness, child hunger, fuel and utility costs, and those falling at or below poverty level.

Obama has overseen drastic decreases in voter confidence, popularity, job creation, homeownership, the middle class, and overall confidence from world leaders.

In case you weren't aware, Reagan's presidency ended nearly a quarter of a century ago. Nancy Reagan is not, and never was, a threat to you or any others. The Bush's are no longer president. Fox News has no legislative or governing power. Much like Obama's campaign promises, his and Michelle's worshipping of false gods is not working.

You can deflect the attention away from Obama with as many forums as you like, the fact remains that Obama will forever be known as the worst president in American history.

As expected the replies have gotten off the subject and have become the usual free for all with the old tired Obama argument. I started this thread to discuss the fallacy of Reagan and the dis pare treatment of the common man and it has naturally become a source of the same old hat Obama this- and- that bullshit instead. If the thread were a post about stray cats or sick puppies, some of you rabid posters would drag Obama into it. For those of you who have managed to stay on the topic, thanks. For the rest of you, please control your pissing contest nature.

If our president were one of Reagan's caliber, there would be no need to talk about him in the manner everyone is doing. Reagan was one of the best president's this country ever had. If you didn't fair well during this time, you might want to look back at some of the choices you made back then.

If you want to discuss the reliability of a Ford, you compare it to a Chevy. If you want to discuss the tenderness of a sirloin, you compare it to a ribeye. When you want to discuss the failures of a president, you compare him to Obama. He has taken Carter's place as that benchmark. Pretty simple.
