Dennis Brooks filed bankruptcy several years ago; its on his application that he filed with the State when he applied for Judge Browns spot; its a public record. I am told he got asked about it during his interview friday. It likely cost him a shot at the third spot.

Dennis Brooks has given his all as an Assistant DA.
And, he has done it for relatively little pay compared to others. The public should appreciate and respect Dennis for his hard work.

The state government jobs are posted on the internet. He makes more than
most Assistant DAs.

Even though bankruptcy records are semi-public (password protected on the Pacer.com website), it is normally not the business of random people. However, it is the business of people in the district where a man or woman applies or runs for public office, to know certain financial aspects of the candidates. Therefore, it is a specific question on most public office applications, and is shown to the public on the website of the Tennessee Administrative Office of the Courts.

Met the man today face to face. I'll vote for him based upon his background and experience and also because he seems like a genuine guy, no guile.

When a person is running for or is in a position of power and authority it is absolutely the citizens right to know if a person has filed for bankruptcy or even has bad credit. The reason for this is to explore possible weaknesses in ones character and judgement. This could be a precursor for corruption. However I know this is not the case with Mr Brooks he is a fine man and prosecutor.

Being a lawyer, of course he may have filed bankruptcy. They know the ins and outs of working the system and manage to use it to their advantage just like Donald Trump did. Big deal, people do it every day, not out of financial need, but as a way to keep their stuff without actually paying for it. Would you if you could pull it off?

Back in the old days they used to check a person's credit history to determine if they were honest or not. Honest ppl pay their bills!

Several Assistant District Attorneys make less pay than Dennis Brooks. Yet, They do not file bankruptcy. If a man can not manage his own finances, how can he manage a courtroom?

OldTennGrranny,

Through the years while on Topix I have seen many of you post and always thought you were a nice person and told it the way it is. I have also agreed and went along with most all of your post. But the post above I do not agree with at all. You are badly mistaken when you say
"Honest ppl pay their bills!" if this is so does that mean if I do not pay off a bill I am dishonest? I think not.

As for the Assit Filing bankruptcy.... Yes he did and so what? He had a good reason for filng and that is all anyone needs to know. He is a good man so everyone needs to not ruin him by running their mouth.

While some folks DO use bankruptcy as a way out of paying bills, other people truly step in a hole along the way and get covered up by debt......medical bills are the primary cause of bankruptcy.

I think until I knew the background of why anyone filed, I'd withhold judgement.....and hope but there, but for the grace of God, and a bit of luck, go I.
