We all know that our government jobs are union jobs that the average Joe worker will never see or get even though they work most of their lives as we did. I believe our benefits will be lost sooner than later under the national debt and out of control spending will eventually collapse as our bigger than ever government will also. It is unsustainable.
History and common sense add and subtract math tells us it is doomed to fail. The brave and heroic generations have died or dying, America is going down while we sit and watch it.

Conservative top 10 list

United States

While the longer this goes on – surely the better things there will be to list, currently it’s just getting started and we already have an interesting top 10 reasons the GOP is winning the government shutdown staring contest …

#10 – The Democrats are so desperate to show how evil the Republicans are that they have forgotten that Right Wing New and Social Media have the ability to drive narratives, too …

#9 - Anytime you can get the #2 Democrat in the nation to publicly state he doesn’t care about kids with cancer you’ve done the nation a service …

#8 - Barack and Harry have threatened contracted Catholic military chaplains with arrest for the crime of celebrating Mass for Catholic soldiers during the shutdown …

#7 – The political Right is so committed to their cause and so convinced it is just they are already publicly declaring they will defy the government and pay the price … willingly and proudly …

#6 – Barack and Harry SO misunderestimated the nation’s response to their dithering that the Dems got snookered by a bunch of 80+ year old guys in wheelchairs who broke down the #Barrycades faster than they wrested Normandy from other famous tyrants …

#5 – Despite having more than 3 years to prepare for their big launch, the government can’t even build a functioning website … both the website AND the government are shut down this weekend …

#4 -That broken website? Barack and Harry didn’t even use a US company … development was outsourced to Canada at a cost of $1.4B … presumably because they anticipated a shutdown and, unlike chaplains, they didn’t want to have to arrest American IT guys for working on governmenty things during a shutdown …

#3 – Barack and Harry shut down the government and the Dow, the S&P and the Nasdaq all post gains …

#2 – The President compared his website’s abysmal failure to handle a few million hits after years of preparation to the private sector’s near flawless handling of high volume traffic for years … Because, you know, the public sector is so superior to the private sector that we must strive to replace the one with the other …

And, the number one reason the GOP will win if they hold fast to their stated principles …

#1 - The main example the administration and its media thralls have touted as a successful ACA enrollment has claimed he was on Obama’s payroll to post positive stuff about Obama on the internet and has not been quite as successful as he claimed in signing up for Obamacare …

Also, I dont think we should have any government workers paid or compensated 10 times higher than the average blue collar workers in America, because that is just obscene.
If you dont like that, then stick it in your pipe and smoke it, veteran or not.
(Im a veteran too)
Americas people are getting tired of supporting over paid fat-cat government workers, when the rest of us are unemployed, or under-employed.
But, its not going to matter much longer, I think. Our government is in such a mess, and our finances so ruined by government fraud, waste, and abuse, and now Obamacare socialism on top of everything else, that America will just go broke soon.
Mercifully, this rotten government spending and waste will end pretty soon because of national bankruptcy.
Hillbilly,
As another retired Army VET I am surprised that you have not taken advantage of the skills and training you received during your military service. I am also retired (24 years- E8 - 42 at retirement) and took a job immediately after leaving the service with a company in Abingdon. Although I will not retire from this civilian job however I am stacking a 401K with everything I can and will probably not work after 55 unless I want to.

You have made the decisions that put you into your current employment situation. When people are driven and set out to succeed then they will. If someone sits back and takes the easy way out or does the bare minimum to get by the guess what? THEY DON"T GET COUNTED!! You want to blame others for your UNDER employment or being unemployed but yet you were the one that made your decisions.

Your lack of motivation put you where you are and that's all there is to it. The cream always rises to the top. You have to figure out what makes you an asset and take charge of your situation! You can't sit by and wait for a management job to fall in your lap. I bet there are no less than 20 jobs on USA JOBS.com that you could apply for within driving distance of where you sit right now. As a VET you would have the same hiring preference that any other has. That is unless you have picked up some sort of criminal history.

I hope things turn around for you troop I really do. That is going to be 100% on you though. Find a way to make it happen.

Thanks to unmotivated defeatists like you who blame 'the system' for their failure, there'll never be a shortage of ditch diggers and septic tank cleaners. Your self pity is disgusting.

Tell that to someone who lost their job to obamacare?

Why do you think obama and the dims gave company's another year? WHY, because of the 2014 elections. They never talked or negotiated with the house of reps.
It is unconstitutional under what the SCOTUS made law that only can be changed by congress, not a dictator. They should impeached him now.
They all know this will run unemployment numbers up with companies laying people off. They want to takeover the house and senate with complete control over all our lives. The country is gone if the repubs give in to this, gone. Look at the last 4 1/2 years and say it is not so.

. I think the country would be much better off than it is had the Republicans not blocked meaningful legislation. Now they have hurt the individuals and families who work for you and me. We are the gov't and the Republican House is bringing our country down. They will hurt even more should our credit rating be downgraded again like it was before. There has never been this type of action taken regarding the debt ceiling before. Look it up. Lets hope the "dims" gain total control. Maybe then we will all have better lives. As the old saying goes; "if you vote Republican you are either rich or stupid". Which are you?

I remember when old dirty Harry Reid was making speeches about how raising the debt limit was irresponsible and bad for America, now he says the opposite. What a dangerous hypocrite!
and remember O saying that the same thing back when he was still wet behind the ears politician? O now we the people know the truth and they want to rule us and spend us to he11.

Dirty harry reid is the reason that term limits need to be instituted here in the USA. livelong parasites on the backs of working Americans need to stop.... there are plenty of bloodsuckers on both sides... how else do "public servants" become so wealthy that they loose any sense of reality. it's time for a revolution in this country.... and I'm not talking about hope and change.....

Hey stupid, the Canadian company was selected because they already handle the Canadian Healthcare IT website system so thusly are the best qualified. Im sure they could have found some idiots here in the US to do it at five times the price.

Actually, there has....during the Clintoon administration. When you were still in diapers, I guess.

But why bother with a debt "ceiling" anyway.....since they've raised it dozens of times. Why not simply pass legislation to put a Quadrillion on the limit and be done with it for a couple years.

/sarc

Doesn't matter either way. The Chinese are stacking gold as hard as they can go, their currency will be the new world reserve currency in a couple years, and the US will find out the true cost of all the things we import. THEN you really will have something to cry about.

The debt ceiling has been raised 78 times. 49 times under Republican Presidents, 29 times under Democratic Presidents. Reagan raised the debt ceiling 17 times, the most of any President. Republicans just hate the idea do the working poor having health care for some reason.

The only one stopping you from having health insurance is you. Go pay for it instead of expecting someone else to.

You really can't grasp the big picture, huh ?

Solution is quite simple....

The Treasury already takes in 2.4 TRILLION bucks in taxes each year. All that is required to "pay our bills" is to quit spending more than that each year.

But the fact is neither the D's or the R's want to do that....with the exception of a few "teatards" as you call them.....they both want to fund their pet projects and give cake and ice cream to all.....using debt to fund it.

I like to do that too.....unfortunately, Visa has a limit as to how much they will let me.

Governments operate on debt and deficits. That's how it is. That's why it's never been an issue. Listen to Ronald Reagan's words of wisdom; "don't worry about the deficit, it's big enough to take care of itself". Do you idiots think it will help to default? What happens if you default on your visa? If you Teatards want that for our country you are either domestic terrorists or idiots.

. I was until it was too much for our family. I believe gov't should either get rid of private insurance or go to single payer. Either way no one in the U.S.A. should go without health care and no one in the U.S.A. Should go bankrupt over medical bills. I suppose you do not agree. I hope no one in your family or even yourself ever go bankrupt because you get injured or sick. More than half of those have insurance.

If you really cared about your family, you'd get up off your lazy butt and find a second or even a third job to provide the additional income needed to pay for the health care instead of making your family go without it.

i work two jobs and substitute teach. That's three jobs and my spouse has a job. Too bad Republicans are against a living wage. That would be good for us. We are part of the working poor in America, but I suppose some cant relate. Are poor people supposed to work every waking minute? I guess quality of life is for some not all, like insurance.
