Quit kidding yourself....We aren't "paying our bills" now.....we're simply borrowing from anyone fool enough to still lend to us, and printing the rest ( about 50% of the total ).
When the day comes, in the not-to-distant future that we have to print 100%, and the rest of the world won't take a US buck for anything, we will find out the true cost of what we have to import and you'll see the standard of living here drop somewhere south of 3rd world countries.
All the Tea Party republicans are doing is attempting to slow this up.....I doubt they will be successful, there are way to many folks bitching and whining about "me...me....me", and eventually the merry-go-round will crank up for a while more.
But understand, the days of the American Empire are limited....these ARE the good old days.

I suppose you and Ed Smith have great insurance and your insurance will never drop you or deny care. Too bad you do not want others to enjoy what you have. Pretty selfish of you don't you think?

Why the name change?
People need to earn what they have plain and simple. Want the best in life earn it. Don't want to but still want...then take what you are given and be glad you got that. Don't expect to live as middle class when you don't work. Problem with this country is way to many leaches. Has nothing to do with immigrants either. DEMS have created and welfare produces a group of "something for nothings" with no contribution to society at all.

what about those of us that work, but whose employers do not offer coverage? You believe that the size of your banks account should determine whether you get care or not?

Yes, the size of your bank account SHOULD determine whether you get care, food, a car, a place to live and so on.

You have this screwball notion someone else should carry you in life.(most communist/socialists do) All you are guaranteed in life is a shot at making it. What you DO with that shot is up to you.

Your employer doesn't provide health care ? Well neither did mine until I pony'ed up for it ( I'm self employed ). Don't like what your employer does ? No piano chained to your leg....leave. Work for somebody else. Start your own thing ( I did ). Whatever.

BUT DON'T REACH IN MY POCKET TO FUND YOUR WANTS.

Have any of you owebama worshipers checked what the cost really is? You need to get your heads out of the sand and wake up because this is going to be expensive and if employers drop out you will have 2 choices, pay owebama prices or no insurance at all.
All we can hope for is to die in our sleep.

Ed, the uninsured are already costing you higher premiums. Should we do away with Medicare, WIC, Medicaid, VA, and other gov't care? Are they socialist? Communist and socialists are not the same by the way.

I really don't see much being affected by the "shutdown" for the average American. The monies needed to keep the gvt. afloat are still in affect. The Congressmen still get paid, the pet projects still are funded, mail is still delivered, etc. Sure, you can't go visit a federal park, but who does anyway? Maybe a shutdown is for the best. The stock market is going to go hog wild over it.......just another excuse to jive us all. While the parties feud with one another, I guarantee big money is making a profit from it. I say, let the gvt. shut down for no less than 120 days. We may see some benefit from it, but with the usual strings attached. Can't get much worse than it is already. Somebody is going to have to bring their marbles back to the childish game.
It does however leave some 9 million mothers and children without WIC. That gets kinda serious.mfor a party that's continually talking about "the children" and " the church" and "pro-life" .... Seems as long as it doesn't hurt their precipitous wealthy, then it really doesn't matter.

Jon Stewart tore FOX news a new asshole last night when during the sequester! the White House was shut down for tours. FIX went on TV and you can tell that ALL the anchors have been "tutored", because each one of them kept whining about the children that didn't get to see the White House ..... But when it comes to making sure they get fed,......Fuck 'em.

The uninsured are costing me higher premiums because the FEDS have decreed the hospitals shall treat them ( to a basic level of care ) instead of setting them out on the curb.

Should we do away with all those other programs.

Yes.

Forced charity is not charity.....it's organized theft.

If I broke into your house and helped myself to your wallet, you'd have a problem with that, right ?

Why then can a group of people organize into a "govt" and do exactly the same thing, and people be ok with that ?

Instead of taking personal responsibility you think that others' bank accounts should pay for your healthcare? What is more important to you personally, a job or healthcare? If you say healthcare, then keep on opining about how people should take care of themselves and others who won't. If you say a job, then quit carping about Obamacare. The way Obamacare is written right now, you cannot have both full employment and full healthcare. Those who are forced to pay for healthcare for others will reduce employment. Those who don't want to work will take advantage of subsidized healthcare. Eventually, the takers will overrun the payers. Then who will get healthcare? That is when rationing takes affect. Go look at Europe for a great example.

Obama and the democrats are just playing the same old dirty politics with the shut down that they wanted, and forced to happen, to gin up contrived, phoney, and 100% needless political pain.

Just like they did with the phoney sequester pain.

All beause the republicans are telling them that if America has to suffer the Obamacare disaster, then they do too.

No more exemptions for Congress and the political croney, fat-cat buddies and political contributors.

That is what the shut down is all about, though you wont hear it from Obama or the liberal news media.

Obama just keep repeating the same old lie that the shut down is the republicans trying to stop Obamacare, which is untrue.

(Obama is building a strawman argument here)

Strawman Argument by definition...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man

The shut down is about fairness. If Americans have to suffer Obamacare, then there should be n exemptions for Congress or the democrats political cronies.

That is the real reason for the shut down that Obama caused.

Yeah, so ya say. But I will be honest. Back in the early 1970's (back before it all got so fuzzy), with my first child, my wife and I were taking advantage of WIC. Did we really need it?,....... No. We would have been ok without it, but it was there for the taking. No shame in that. WIC is one of those falsified "do goody" programs (with hidden perks for the providers) open to be taken advantage of. I know for a fact that many of the current users of it buy the goods and use it to entertain their "friends" with good meals and pay no respect for their children, and that's a damn fact. I really think WIC is probably beneficial to less than 30% of the users. Keep in mind, the companies that offer WIC benefits are in cahoots with the government and it's no skin off their teeth. They gain from it in credits and tax breaks. Sad but true but it is all a part of playing the game for both sides.

yes, there should be changes to the program for sure. I don't agree with the fact you can buy expensive steak, sliced deli meats and other niceties that many people not on WIC cant afford. And the program doesn't let you buy the basic store brand bread or cheese, you're required to buy the one that's intentionally priced higher and is never on sale because they have a captive market.

36 Things Obama Won’t Say About the Shutdown

- and neither will the mainstream media:

#1 85% of all government activities are actually being funded during this “government shutdown”.

#2 Approximately 1,350,000 “essential” federal employees will continue to work during this “government shutdown”.

#3 Overall, 63 percent of the federal workforce will continue to work during this “government shutdown”.

#4 The U.S. Postal Service will continue to deliver our mail.

#5 U.S. military personnel will remain on duty and will continue to get paid.

#6 Social Security recipients will continue to get their benefits.

#7 Medicare recipients will continue to get their benefits.

#8 Medicaid recipients will continue to get their benefits.

#9 Food stamp recipients will continue to get their benefits.

#10 Those on unemployment will continue to get their benefits.

#11 Federal retirees will continue to get their pensions.

#12 The federal school lunch program has enough money to go through at least the end of this month.

#13 Public schools all over the country will continue to stay open.

#14 Almost all federal law enforcement officials will continue working.

#15 The Federal Reserve will remain “completely functional“.

#16 The Supreme Court will continue to operate normally and federal courts have enough money to keep going for at least two weeks.

#17 TSA employees will continue to molest travelers at our airports.

#18 Air traffic controllers will continue to monitor traffic at our airports.

#19 Hopelessly outmanned border patrol agents will continue to try to stem the tide of illegal immigration.

#20 Visas and passports will continue to be issued by the State Department.

#21 The Veterans Administration will continue to offer substandard medical services, and it will be able to continue processing benefit payments at least for now.

#22 The Obama administration apparently has plenty of money to spend on closing open-air memorials that are usually open to the public 24 hours a day.

#23 The Department of Defense announced the awarding of 94 new contracts worth a combined total of more than 5 billion dollars on September 30th – the day right before the “government shutdown”.

#24 The “government shutdown” has not prevented the new two billion dollar NSA spy center from opening up.

#25 Federal prisons will continue to operate normally.

#26 Amtrak trains will continue to run.

#27 The Patent and Trademark Office will be open.

#28 The Consumer Product Safety Commission will continue to issue product recalls if the products “create an immediate threat to the safety of human life“.

#29 The National Weather Service and the National Hurricane Center will continue to track weather patterns.

#30 If the federal government needs to respond to a natural disaster, this “shutdown” will not affect that.

#31 NASA will continue to support the Mars Rover and the two American astronauts up on the International Space Station.

#32 All city employees of the D.C. government have been deemed “essential” and will continue to go to work.

#33 Even though the Obamacare exchanges are not working properly, people will still be able to access them.

#34 The IRS will continue to collect taxes, but it will be suspending punitive audits of conservative organizations.

#35 Barack Obama will continue to get paid for the full duration of this “shutdown”.

#36 The U.S. Congress will continue to get paid for the full duration of this “shutdown”.

And everyone else is on paid leave. They’ll get their backpay when we open back up for business..
