Keystone's undeserved bad reputation began years ago due to the housing projects being located there. Lower income areas usually get a bad reputation regardless of the situation. The old skating rink/rec center was a draw to kids form all over and sometimes local kids were defensive of the place. As in many communities, the residents took up for their own and fights were occasionally the result. One thing for sure, Keystone had some good fighters! There were other neighborhoods nearby with bad reputations; Maupin Row, Hilltop, Shacktown, Potlicker, Rich Acres, etc. and to venture there meant you had to mind your manners. As time has gone by, you will see that many of these communities have become nice neighborhoods. I grew up across the railroad tracks from Keystone and had many good friends from there.

Maybe you should up your standards? Evidently you had a thing for him and perhaps still do. What's your excuse?

In order preserve the "bottled beer taste in a can" as promised, Coors Brewing used specially lined cans to preserve the beer. According to some this liner has a very short shelf life and affects the taste of Keystone beer.

I think the real reason is Keystone is a "bargain brand" like AB's Natural Light or Miller's Milwaukee's Best. These brands are not crafted well to begin with and usually are not served in restaurants or bars. The economical price point in the market of course means that a lower economic class usually is all that purchases the brand. Most things associated with a lower economic class naturally lend themselves to ridicule. Always.

Who was the actual builder of the Keystone Housing Project and what year did they start building and then admitting families to move in?

I am in a discussion with someone about the actual year that people were able to move in?
I say it was late summer of 1952 and the friend says 1953.
A dinner is riding on this.

The same reason any place gets a bad reputation - the people that live there.
