I've read alot of these comments and agree with most. I work for the previously mentioned dealership as a detailer. I understand most of the complaints. The management and sales team will do anything to 'get their deal.' I see it everyday. As for service, they tend to screw you as well. You have to watch it and know what you are wanting/talking about and make sure you get it! Our detail dept does what the service advisors tell us to. If there is any problem with your vehicle once it leaves detail, all you have to do is bring it back. You don't have to go thru the service advisors either, unless it is something major and is time consuming. Simple stuff like the swirls, just pull up to the back door, where the detail bay is, and it can get done. We don't mind.

I went to JC Honda with the intent on buying a new Civic. I had cash in my pocket and was ready to deal. The wife wanted the civic with the rear spoiler on it because of the color. It was $650.00 more than the other one without a spoiler that was silver. After 2 hours of trying to get them to knock 650.00 off the one we wanted, the sales manager wrote a note on the sales sheet stating that he couldn't do business with us. He refused to speak to me in person so we left and went to Bill Gatton Honda and bought a new Honda there and they were happy to give us to price we wanted. They were eager to make sure we were happy.

Does this answer your question?

I couldn't deal with them either. I went to their used car lot in September. I was interested in a car they had. The car I was going to trade in was purchased in May of this year (same model of car--I just wanted a newer year) They offered me $4,0000 less than what I paid for the car. If I had traded with them I would have lost $4,0000 in 4 months. I know a car depreciates in value once driven off the lot, but I think that was too much. By the way, the car that I was interested in has dropped $2,000 in price and it's still on their lot.

That mexican that runs/owns JC Honda is a joke. The ignorant commercials alone would keep me off his lot. Then when you meet him and his sales people, the deal is sealed------stay away from JC Honda.
If you want a honda, Gatton is the only way to go around tri cities.

Joe "The Joke" Trujillo is probably worse than Grindstaff for flaunting and exorbitant lifestyle while trying to act like a "common man". Go check out his castle sometime. It's over near Hales Chapel Christian Church in Gray. Just take a look at these morons and ask yourself how the auto industry is still hurting with these flakes yucking it up like they are.

Gatton is about the only guy in the area that actually gives back to the community and doesn't run around trying to show off his newest "stuff". The guy has more money and power than most would dream of and he's still approachable and honest.

As for me, I travel to Asheville or Chattanooga for Toyotas. Much better people to deal with.

I have owned several cars from dealerships around the area and here is my best advice:

Acura's:

AppleTree Acura in Fletcher NC. Purchased a 2003 Acura TSX when they were the "Hot" car in the area and got a good deal with no trade in.

Bill Gatton Acura in Johnson City: Purchased from Larry Christian. Very honest and reasonable salesman. I had a special order vehicle and got a great deal on the vehicle plus more for my trade than I expected. Service after the sale on my vehicle has been excellent (2006 Acura TSX).

Honda Dealerships:

To me there is only one Honda Dealership and one Honda Salesman. John Smith at Phil Bachman Honda in Kingsport has sold me and my ex-wife and immediate family over 5 cars in the last 5 years. Each time we have gotten a great deal on a "hot" car and their service department is above excellent.

Dealers to stay away from:

JC Honda
Tri-Cities Nissan (Go to Morristown)
Lexus of Kingsport
Rick Hill
Princess

The managers at JC Honda are not fit to sell cars, they wouldn't even qualify to sell appliances at Sears.

Oh Yes..I will never go back to them again. I had a terrible experience and will go to Bill Gatton the next time I decide to buy a Honda.

I purchased a Mazda 6 in 04 at Bristol and a 08 Acura from Bill Gatton in Johnson city and they kept my extended warranty from the Mazda. I was suppose to have received my refund and they kept it all!I called for 4 months over it and Roy Lawson I think his name was the Manager of Bristol was the most disrespectful man I have ever delt with. I kept all his emails to wrote me. I will never purchase from Bill Gatton again.

Beware! Technicians stole my kids' milk money. I covered up the change cup well, but they found it and stole half an inch of change. Warning, Thieves in the oil change area! Use them at your own risk.

Hey fellow car buyers, I have went to all three local dealers here in east TN. I first went to Gatton Honda, was treated like crap because I told them I was looking to make a purchase "soon" They never wanted to help me, I asked them for a price, the general manager Trace? or close to that came out and was an idiot!!!!!! I then went to Phil Bachman told them the same thing...some guy of the name of Jim Mccoy I think looked as though he had just smoked a joint (smelled like it too) Told me that he would sell me the vehicle $100 over his "cost" plus hondas destination cost and doc fee...what a STONER!!!! stay clear unless you want to deal with a "POT HEAD" I then went to Johnson City Honda, there a sales person named Steve helped me, I told him what I wanted, he introduced me to Jason the sales manager...he took care of me, I ended up buying right there after talking to him, he showed me all the information, didn't try to hide anything from me!!! Thank you Johnson City Honda!!!!

I bought a new CRV from JC Honda in 2003. I took it back to them for one of my first oil changes. They forgot to put oil back in my car. It locked up on me about three miles down the road. They were not going to do anything for me, and were quite smart aleck and disrespectful regarding my concerns. I had to get an attorney and react aggressively, as well as remain persistant. In the end, they only replaced a small part of the motor. I will never do business with them again. Mistakes happen, but you have to stand behind them. Thumbs down all the way for this business.
