I applaud board member Hamond taking a stand for employees although not sure if I agree with him. Teachers in attendance claim finance director Beverly Thomas was her usual bitter self. She was always rude on phone and could not answer simple questions. We know why she's not married. She like most CO staff have poor attitudes and do not like accountability. She is a screw up with a poor attitude and probably lacks credentials for her position. Her screw up for a brother in law Ford is running for sheriff. He attitude is a little more humble while running for sheriff minus not knowing ass from hole in ground during opening statements of his campaign. Thanks to the school board members for reminding Dykes and Thomas they work for the people. Dykes thinks he has power but at the end of the day he ain't shit without the board and they aren't without the voters.

Having attended meeting it is obvious Ms. Thomas is covering up something or has no business in her position. One theory is Thomas is job scared because of Dykes inadequacies. I see why County Mayor questions WCDE. Many dinosaurs in central office. Ellis Holcombe retired but part time making over $60,000.00 yearly. Holcombe is father to sick SOB taking inappropriate pictures of minors now serving prison sentence. Let's not forget the Boone AD and Ms. Estepp saga. Constantly denied when many parents and students will testify of hand holding moments. Was it a lie? To be falsely accused but wait Travis was right because Danny is arm in arm with the newly appointed soccer coach. We know morals left the relationship long ago but is it still not considered conflict of interest? The big haired(thinning)sweaty Dykes must be having an EPIC BREAKDOWN.

I wouldn't vote for Ford regardless of his relatives. Ed Graybeal has done a great job. We had a ghost voting Rep we voted out. Say no to ghostly law enforcement head. Look at Jonesborough-nothing more than a speed trap.

I commend Hammond for trying to help the employees who don't get paid when they miss for snow. Hammond sounds like a good Union man.

<quoted text>I can tell you by experience Hammond is no union man. I think he was just trying to take care of the employees. He has never really been close to union groups. Too conservative but will give him credit, the man has heart and cares about people.
Conservatives can be Union people too. I am glad he is trying to help those poor people though. But one thing about it those people who missed work because of snow don't have to work for the school system. They have the freedom to get another job that does not shut down when it snows. And it sounds like what a Union would ask for which is paying employees for work they didn't do not that I am against that at all.

I spoke with Hammond and his reasoning is semi justified. Bus drivers get paid for those days and he wants the same for other hourly employees. Only seems fair to me. I was disappointed other members didn't take a stand and Clarence Mabe has proven he could care less about employees.
What choices

Let's recap my choices for school board and pick three. Mabe: athletic obsessed, hellbent on multimillion dollar athletic facility, doesn't care about school employees or academics, and has been a board member over 20 years. Bill Brinkley: picked up papers to run but people claim is not running, what's up with that and he's a Mabe puppet. David Hammond: nice guy, cares about students and employees, but did vote to give Dykes and creepy central office dinosaurs three more years, I had a lot of hope in him the last time, but he let people down. And then there is newcomer Mike Masters: friend of AD Danny Good and making money off concessions and ball tournaments but states giving that business to his son, too much unreported and lack of accountability now in athletic tournaments to suit me. This smacks of conflict of interest. Is there anyone with integrity who is willing to run for school board???

Hi Nate. I am a fan of the little person. They are the ones who make the world go round. I just know that when Hammond asked to help these people I was impressed. It is rare in this state for anyone to standup for the working people. Usually everyone is standing up for the ones who have all the money. I totally agree it is fair and I hope these poor people get what they deserve when it comes to getting paid for those days they missed. I do know Mabe. Is he rich or something?

No fan of Danny Good or his chronic Mike Masters. Masters kids are not in school. He is running because concessions and tournaments have been under fire and people want accountability. Masters is in real estate and we all know how that's going. Masters has made good money off tournaments and school ball games. Others before did it for the students not profit. Now if you really think masters is going to hand it down go one his beaming personality sons I have beach property in Greeneville to sell you. By the way who gave you ownership Mike? Danny is said to be our there trying to get others to run including one his chums who provided a meeting place out near Pleasant Grove. Wonderful future for children.

Easy to 'care' when spending other people's (tax) money. Real caring is when you write the check.

I don't anything about the central office people. But everything that is going wrong really is happening why don't somebody report it to the law? I only got on this chat because I thought Hammond was a lot like what my Union would fight for which is helping the ones who make the schools really work and make a low amount of money.

I don't think Good, Mabe, or any of those central office workers are doing anything that bad. If they were why haven't the public or some higher authority busted them. All these accusations just seem wrong. Sounds like someone has an axe to grind...it just sounds that way. From what I know, Dykes has done an excellent job and the students seem to be happy overall. There is just not anything that egregious going on it seems.

Where is your proof? And if you have this proof and you are hiding it then you could be just as bad as they are. What do you mean adultery? Do you know something that YOU are hiding. Directors making 70 grand a year is not illegal. Athletics is always put before education in America friend--the Super Bowl was the most watch tv program in history--not Sesame Street or Bill Nye the Science Guy...maybe I am not as clueless as you suggest--Maybe you are fighting "windmills."

I heard that there have been undercover people watching this group for some time now. Has anyone else heard this?

I have not heard anything like this...but if someone knows of wrong doing that is hurting others and they don't report it to the authorities it would seem as if they are condoning the behavior as well. It is one thing to hear of something and another of actually having evidence or seeing a bad behavior actually occur firsthand. If a citizen has concern about the finances of the county he or she can request documents under the freedom of information act as long as the info does not contain personal stuff.

It is obvious there are too many scandals, cover ups and idiots in leadership positions in the school system. With all their drama and self centered promotion, it is clear they don't give a DAMN about our students!!!!

If they are scandals where is the news getting them out to the public? Ye holder of thy scandal bring light for all to see. A claim based on speculation is not a scandal just because you say it is. You have to be more specific.

I wonder if the other school systems in this area have problems like blazing has mentioned? These problems need to be reported to Hammond because he seems like a man who not be afraid to take care of them at a board meeting. He is a good Christian man too from what I hear.

Can't see that I blame him on that....proof is in the pudding I always heard. The county bus drivers get paid when there is no school. Also it is said all IA's & custodians in Carter county get paid for snow days....hmmmm. seems that something is a foot Washington County....call in the auditors. Someone better have some dang good answers and a proper paper trail. Been with Washington County for 9+ years and only been paid once for any snow days. That was when Rolland was in office
