I have always heard a lot of stuff about Steve Grindstaff. And, some of it may be true. I will say that some of the stuff I am seeing in these post are true of the Elizabethton dealership. But, I have never seen that in Johnson City. I have bought all my cars off of Grindstaff for the last 15 years and it has always been a good experience. The best one I had was last year when I bought Kia Soul for my wife. The entire staff was helpful. We love the car so much and the Kia has such a high rating above all the other cars in consumer reports (even better than Chevrolet, Ford, and Dodge). I am actually in the process of buying myself a Kia as well. I may not agree with everything that Grindstaff does. But, I will say that the one time I did have a problem, he personally call me and apologized and gave me an additional $2000 off of the price of the vehicle I bought. And, they had already came down on the price $6000.

I work in an industry that relies on customer satisfaction as well. The truth is that out of everyone who is satisfied with a product or service will only say so in a complaint forum about 10% of the time. But, someone who is upset and mad will post a complaint about 90% of the time. So far, I have seen that to be true.

Does that mean you can't buy a car from them because it is contageous? Come on! Why does it matter if they are gay, black, white, or oriental. That doesn't affect your car

I am all for buying American Cars. But, when the Kia is a lot cheaper and has a better rating in Consumer Reports and JD Powers, then someone has to consider a Kia. The fact is a Kia may be a Korean car. However, the USA Kias are made in the USA and they use all parts from the USA. They are not imported. They just have the KIA name. That is why they call it Kia USA. And, the money from th Kias sold stays in this country.

Why does it matter if Chance is gay? So what! It doesn't affect your car any. I don't agree with the gay lifestyle. But, I am not going to be prejudice either. That is between them and God and has nothing to do with your car.

They are a bunch of crooks. My wife and I spent several hours " working a deal" on this used truck that was perfect for us both financially and usability only to have them completely back out at the last minute and try to sell us a little 4 door Kia. They couldn't come up with a good reason why I all of the sudden I wasn't qualified for the truck because it was used but I was for a brand new car right off the showroom floor. It was so dirty we even had the truck on our own to run errands and was assured the papers would be ready to sign when we were done. I got fed up and walked out with at least 3 crooks behind me saying they would work something out. Funny thing is I had cash on hand to pay for the truck in case I couldn't finance it due to a loan I had already gotten from the bank. They blew my phone up for a month trying to sell everything from the little car to a new truck off the showroom floor. Since the waisted so much of our time I still wouldn't have bought the new vehicle if they practically gave it to me. We were very displeased at the "tactics" they used to try and con us.

No but Grindstaff in elizabethton did. And it just so happened to be on that lot at the time. And why would I lie about that? I have nothing to gain by it and I was sharing my experience and giving my opinion based on that experience. You must work there. Did I strike a nerve?

I believe you 'cons'. I get the feeling too that 'Noah Fence' is somehow associated with Grindstaff Auto delaerships. No wonder I've lately heard everyone referring to the Grindstaff name as 'Groin Staph' as in a rashy staph infection pain in the nuts.

Yep I think I did hit a nerve and Noah works there. The truth hurts and some people simply can't handle it. And yes the name does sound like a nut rotting disease of some kind.

Well then u answered what we already figured to be true. There was no need to call me a liar because your friend works there. It happened and that is that. I didn't name anyone in particular so there was no reason to get offended. Chances are it might not have been your friend I was talking about anyway. But thank you for your honesty behind what you posted even though it was an insult towards me because your friend works for a crook.

Aw, y'all gotta face the facts. Used cars are left up to the yard jockies to sell. The big money is in the new cars. I'm no big fan of SG, but he turns these guys loose to make money off used cars, more or less a minor yet source of money. After all, they are just trying to make a commission. I ain't saying it is right, just saying you can expect to be hornswaggled on a used car deal. While that may not speak favorably for him, at least he knows which side the bread is buttered on........new cars! The used trade-ins are nothing more than smoke. If you want to come out ahead, sell it to a private party and be accused of the same. Any time you go to buy a used car off a lot, expect to be abused. Not only off used car lots, but used cars in general. I know you have all been taken one way or the other, whether it be from a dealer or an individual. I think anyone who buys a new car is stupid, but at least they have a reasonable warranty from the factory, not the dealer. As for me, if you have a servicable dependable car, be satisfied with it and don't expect to get a killer deal on another man's troubles. It just doesn't work that way.

Interesting insight. Gotta say that info seems to help understand the situation about used cars a little better. Thanks.
