On the voicemail it stated he had 31 players..... but thecoach contradicted himself saying 27 kids, no uniforms but yet one mysteriously appeared for the child.....
So is the the this boy and his friend going to get to be on the team? Some parents don't stand up for their kids and "assume" school systems will do the right thing.

Assumptions in which story? There is no assumption in the abuse, just hard core facts. Documentation. But as for the football issue, their is no case except to bring to light the issue that these children didn't even get the fair chance at playing... it wasn't base on the child's ability to play, and all the kids wants is fairness. Aren't we to teach our children when playing games, sports, that it is to be played fairly? Don't we teach our children to take turns? They wouldn't justify how cuts were made and how they decide who to cut, instead they just shove blame on numbers and no real reason why two special education children, both of which are involved in a Teacher abusing them. This football issue holds no ground to what happened previously to the children, The reason the media was contacted was to help the children have a fair chance to play. No one wants a free ride to play on the team. They just want answers to why they couldn't play. If there was a legit, and non related reason to why, that should have been stated. Not, it was mis-communication. mis-Communication is what caused those children to be abused last year and the parents are sick of hearing "Mis Communication" I hope the best for those kids and hope they get the chance to play.
All of this hooey just makes it more clear why school team sports have no place in the education system. The children are not gaining anything from it, unless you consider it Politics 101. I know some of you parents will jump up and down praising the glory of teaching kids teamwork, co operation, leadership and all that baloney through school team sports. Many of the parents use team sports to fulfill some self fueled fantasy through their kids participation. That is just more pressure on the kids to be "part of the team".

This is excellent and so true! You need to pass this information on to Mabe and WCDE because they have spent so much on sports it has bankrupted the system !

Just to make sure everyone knows the facts. I know Kevin Durham, and have coached against him many times. JMS gets money and equipment from DCHS at the athletic directors discretion. I know that the previous head coach even went so far as to take up donations to get safe helmets purchased for the kids, because there was"no money" to buy helmets. Kevin volunteers his time and effort because no one else wants to coach the football team there. He has bought mouthpieces for players, fed many of them, and done everything possible to help any that he can. He would also let me know personally that at times he was going to put in players who were "less than physically gifted" so I could make adjustments and not get anyone hurt on the field or injure a players confidence. While I agree that Washington County and many of it's higher ups are worthless, and I single out Clarence Mabe when I say this, I can honestly say that Kevin Durham has done more to help any and all football players at JMS...not just the superstars.

No one is saying Kevin Initiated the discrimination, but we do however hope he stays honest and not let the CRONIES run the field. Lets hoe the bst for the kids! Let them have fun!
