Does anybody know of a doctor in the Tri-Cities that will allow patients to choose c-section instead of vaginal delivery? I would rather have a c-section. Thanks.

Dr. Herrell at ETSU OB is AMAZING I didn't see anyone else there but he took care of me thru my whole pregnancy and did my c-section and it was flawless

I had c's with all 3 of my children. I had a hard time with my first child and we almost died. I had Dr. Laine with my last one and he was excellent. Don't get the other doctor, Dr.G who's in with him because he hurt two babies in my family during delivery.

I'm not judging you.. I'm assuming this is your first pregnancy? A lot of women are terrified of labor. I just say talk this over with your doctor...make sure you understand the risks totally and if your doctor agrees to do this, good luck. The only thing that would concern me is if you have subsequent pregnancies and deliveries.. My daughter just got through with her 5th c-section.. you could see the baby's face in the thin uterine wall.. Hopefully, you won't want to have as many kids as she did.(GRIN) Just be sure though... as others have said, this is a major surgery....I'd be TERRIFIED of a hospital acquired infection frankly after a c-section..that would be my personal fear..

Thanks for the responses. Yes, this would be my first and only. I am 31 years old, and if I can manage one, that's going to be it. I know c-section aren't the best option if multiple pregnancies are desired.

I will just throw this out.. My eldest daughter would throw up and faint at the doctor's office.. she still isn't much better ..I was TERRIFIED when I found out she was pregnant..long story short, she was a you get to those last few weeks, that baby is totally's absolutely like he/she is already in your arms except he/she still just inside your tummy.. you will be so focused and worried about getting him/her here safely...a lot of your fear about delivery and yourself will disappear or at least take a back seat...It's called being a Mom....I'm sure you'll do fine whatever you decide...Good luck.

Don't worry about what other people think. The way a woman gives birth doesn't matter. In the end she is still a mother.
You can find doctors that will do an elective section. Just be up front and serious.
I am having my first in September with an elective c section for no medical reasons. My doctor was up for whatever I wanted. In this day and age you should not have much of problem finding an OB for your decision.

<quoted text>Yes. I am actually a medical professional myself, familiar with the risks and benefits of both types of delivery. Not looking for a debate, just information about local physicians. Thanks.
Just for the record --- I had a planned c-section and loved it!!! Good for you for doing what you want.
