According to a 5-14-2013 news article published in the JONESBOROUGH HERALD & TRIBUNE, local JEHOVAH'S WITNESS LEADER, James Kenneth Ross, president of Jonesborough's Ken Ross Architects, Inc., was recently honored at a meeting of the Johnson City/Jonesborough/Washington County Chamber of Commerce. Ken Ross is the local tri-cities area Representative for the Brooklyn, New York-based WATCHTOWER CULT.

According to the HERALD & TRIBUNE article, the Chamber of Commerce honored Ross for being the local person responsible for bringing multiple WATCHTOWER CULT District and Circuit conventions to Johnson City for "more than 25 years".

Readers should be aware that there are unanswered questions as to the terms of the multiple unpublicized contracts over the years, as well as
questions as to whether the WATCHTOWER CULT has received any FINANCIAL SUBSIDIES from any local governmental entity as its incentive for
making members in Kentucky, North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia travel all the way to Johnson City to attend their own state's conventions. Some of these concerns have been voiced in other local TOPIX threads.

Interestingly, according to the website for Ken Ross Architects, Inc., their firm has been employed by the WATCHTOWER SOCIETY to design multiple multi-million dollar projects across the United States. These include a $10,000,000.00 project in Maryland; a $10,000,000.00 project in Arizona; and a $8,000,000.00 project in Georgia. Similar projects in Colorado, Texas, and South Carolina are also referenced.

Interested readers should see the "Cult Convention" thread to learn how JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES view the United States Government, the government of the State of Tennesee, and supposedly local city and county governments.

Interestingly, this local WATCHTOWER CULT Representative does NOT seem to publicly demonstrate any of the Cult's negative views or behaviors toward either city, county, nor state government.

In fact, readers should take a gander at this excerpt from the ETSU website, where this JEHOVAH'S WITNESS was honored back in 2002:

"In 1976, Ross had saved enough money and had several potential clients, allowing him to form Ken Ross Architects. The firm consisted of just himself, and he worked out of his garage apartment. Immediately, he was able to land several projects, hire three other people and move into a new office in the first year. The firm began to realize its true potential in 1996, when it was commissioned to work on several large projects. The firm had already started on the ETSU Sherrod Library, which was the largest state-funded project of that year in Tennessee, totaling $28,000,000. In fact, the ETSU Sherrod Library project won Ross national recognition for its design from the American School & University Publication. Since 1996, the firm has grown to 18 employees and has multi-million dollar projects. Today, the firm is directing well over $100,000,000 worth of projects in the Tri-Cities alone. These projects include libraries, performing arts centers, schools, offices, medical facilities, municipalities, utility boards, and many other facilities. Also, it is ironic that the firm's greatest challenge was to overcome other out-of-town firms to gain work, and now it has become one of the largest out-of-town firms, directing work in over 18 states in the last few years. It is safe to say that Ken Ross Architects will continue to design creative spaces that enhance people's lives.

Ross has taken an active role in the community as well. He is the chairman of the Johnson City Housing Authority's board of directors, a member of the Tennessee Health Care Association, Jonesborough Historic Society, ETSU's Distinguished President's Trust, and Pirate Club. He has donated time helping Habitat for Humanity, so that people with limited means can own their own home. Ross has also donated much of his personal time and money helping East Tennessee State University with scholarships, athletic programs, and general funding. In fact, he founded The Heritage Club, which is raising thousands of dollars for the ETSU men's golf team. For his continued dedication to his work and his community, Ross has been spotlighted for his efforts. In 1999, Ross was awarded the Greater Tri-Cities Businessman of the Year and that same year was named the Greater Tri-Cities Business of the Year by The Business Journal."

END QUOTE

Geez, a reader would never know that Ross is a JEHOVAH'S WITNESS MINISTER, plus the WATCHTOWER CULT'S representative for the tri-cities area.

Interestingly, Ken Ross's son, Jeremy Ross, is a Vice President at ETSU. His online resume indicates that Jeremy Ross may also have an ownership interest in Ken Ross Architects, Inc.

Jeremy Ross also is a JEHOVAH'S WITNESS MINISTER. Again, it is absolutely amazing how someone who is required to both hold and teach the anti-government and anti-societal beliefs and practices of the WATCHTOWER CULT somehow manages to be so highly successful at a sideline career which would seem to require personal beliefs opposed to those of the WATCHTOWER CULT.

Must be quite a juggling act keeping happy both the WATCHTOWER CULT's leaders in Brooklyn, New York AND ETSU boosters and financial contributors. Kudos.

Wow, I had no idea.
It sounds like we owe the Ross family a big THANK YOU for contributing so much to our community!
I can only hope that my sons grow up to be men with strong faiths who do things to build up their community. It is so sad & shameful the way you see so many people nowadays who try to make themselves feel better by tearing other people down instead.

In the Sunday, June 16, 2013 edition of the JOHNSON CITY PRESS, reporter JENNIFER SPROUSE authors yet another ANNUAL gratuitous "puff piece" article PROMOTING and PRAISING the two annual summer District WATCHTOWER CULT Conventions hotsed by the Freedom Hall Civic Center management.

JENNIFER SPROUSE's tired article quotes several pre-prepared self-promoting cliches provided by local WATCHTOWER CULT Spokesman RICHARD FLATT.

Once again, the JOHNSON CITY PRESS refuses to publicly REVEAL to local TAXPAYERS how much FINANCIAL SUBSIDIES are being given to the WATCHTOWER CULT by local City and County POLITICIANS to get WATCHTOWER CULT HEADQUARTERS in Brooklyn, New York, to choose Freedom Hall Civic Center NOT ONLY as the site for two summertime District conventions, but also many more smaller Circuit conventions held at other times of the year.

Nice selective CENSORSHIP JOHNSON CITY PRESS.

In the June 29, 2013 edition of the JOHNSON CITY PRESS, staff reporter
JENNIFER SPROUSE authored her second gratuitous "puff piece" article in as many weeks which PROMOTES the WATCHTOWER CULT and its two summer Conventions being hosted by the management of FREEDOM HALL.

This week's WATCHTOWER CULT promo article includes not 2, not 3, not even 6, but actually 20 photographs snapped by staff photographer DAVE BOYD.

JENNIFER SPROUSE reports the 55 baptisms at these two conventions -- from Kingdom Halls attending from parts of 4 states -- as if such is something worthy of notifying the general public. My guess is that there are a dozen or more individual local churches which have higher annual baptism numbers than that. When was the last time that the JOHNSON CITY PRESS published FREE ADVERTISING for any of those local non-cult churches whose members buy advertising from that newspaper, or whose members purchase that newspaper?

JENNIFER SPROUSE's SECOND article once again includes pre-prepared "sound bites" from WATCHTOWER CULT Spokesman, KEN ROSS, of Jonesborough, and from a Jehovah's Witness Minister from Knoxville, named Michael Gragg. The "sound bites" repeatedly use the word "family", which is NOT unintentional given the fact that over the past few years there have been multiple news articles about the CHILD SEXUAL MOLESTATION problem within the WATCHTOWER CULT. Of course, if the reporting of such depended on JENNIFER SPROUSE, local residents would never know about such, In fact, I am beginning to wonder whether JENNIFER SPROUSE is a member of the WATCHTOWER CULT? What about DAVE BOYD?

The JOHNSON CITY PRESS and JENNIFER SPROUSE end this article with an activated WEBLINK to the WATCHTOWER CULT's website, which is HYPOCRITICAL and DISCRIMINATORY given that the newspaper FORBIDS including WEBLINKS in "public comments" about this article.

Once again, notably ABSENT from JENNIFER SPROUSE's article is any mention of the contractual terms between the WATCHTOWER CULT and FREEDOM HALL, or the amount of FINANCIAL SUBSIDIES given to the WATCHTOWER CULT by local City and County POLITICIANS to entice the CULT to hold its Conventions in Johnson City.

Oh well, we really did NOT expect HONESTY nor FULL DISCLOSURE from the JOHNSON CITY PRESS, nor its reporters. That would be too much to ask.

By the way, does anyone know where WATCHTOWER CULT SPOKESPERSON Ken Ross just happens to be employed? Google it. You may be surprised.

Just saw that back in mid to late June 2013 that local television station WJHL-TV was also televising news reports providing FREE ADVERTISING for the then upcoming WATCHTOWER CULT CONVENTIONS going to be held at Freedom Hall Civic Center.

WJHL's online news version even included an activated weblink to the WATCHTOWER CULT's home webpage.

Apparently, Mr. Kenneth Ross had a busy June.

WE KNOW WHO HAS THE LOCAL POLITICIANS' BACKS.
As much truth as there is in what you say here, it's not even close to all of it. THE POLITICIANS HAVE AN ABSOLUTE LOCK ON WHAT THESE PEOPLE ARE ALLOWED TO HEAR OR READ. You are speaking to a group of people whose state rep is Matthew Hill. His whole family is a gang of religious THEIVES and worse. He has his own TAX FREE RELIGIOUS RADIO STATION that actually gets tax dollars. Well, it seems almost $200,000 came up missing. The ONLY reason we even heard about it is because ITS FEDERAL. Anything state wide is TOTALLY OWNED BY THESE GANG MEMBERS WHO HAVE BEEN IN LEAGUE WITH ONE ANOTHER SINCE BIRTH. It's a disgusting breed of people and the common man is so dumb in these parts, I'm literally surprised they can find their way home at night. All they have to go by is FOX LIES and the edited stuff put into the newspaper. Hey, they wanted people to be able to bring guns to work even against the property owners wishes and the president (a woman) of the local chamber of commerce objected. BY GOD SHE WASNT THERE ANOTHER MONTH. stand up or been disagree with these thugs and its your job. You're on the right track , but you greatly underestimate the intensity of corruption.....

-Jehovah's witnesses don't have an "earthly leader" (man or woman)
They are led by instructions from god through the bible.

So, they cannot be a cult...since they aren't led by anyone.

If you don't believe me, look at their official website - jw.org - and in the search bar , type : cult :
-are Jehovah's witnesses a cult?
Read it. Anywhere else you look is going to be most likely opinion based without any real research put into it.

There are two groups that claim to be Jehovah's witnesses , but only one is the real deal. The man in this story is most likely the "leader" of the cult. <and yes , that is a cult, because true witnesses have no leader. That is how you are to know which one is right or wrong.

So what's wrong with that? Backslapping and glad handing make the wheels go around. Would you rather a bunch of homosexuals throw money at it and use the influence to spread their agenda? What's with the caps on the word "cult"? Is that your p.c. way of name calling? Being that the man, not his religion is being "honored" aren't you going a bit overboard?
