The world became an even darker place today when one of the few remaining true lights of freedom and equality died today. The president will give his speech at 2200 tomorrow.

He took a nation every bit as bad as our own southern states and turned them around without firing a single shot. To the contrary he went to prison for 26 years and even forgave his captors, his most famous words in my opinion is when he went on his hunger strike and simply said " I WILL NOT EAT UNTIL MY PEOPLE ARE FREE"

Each of the living presidents weighed in including the Bush's.

I thought it was rather ironic that here is Nelson Mandela who won a legitimate war without any violence. And here is GW Bush who killed a million people for no reason whatsoever in Iraqi Freedom. A war criminal praising a war hero.

God Bless Nelson Mandela and Goddamn GW Bush. Amen.

You said darker, lol! Sounds racist to me. I can't wait for the president's speech. I'm sure it will be loaded with the same old black oppression jive that has become popular. Mandela is a paper tiger. He didn't starve to death, now did he?

Give us a break. The end of apartheid was an economic, not a moral issue. Mandela was merely a poster boy to put a spin on it. To say one old man put it all together and brought about harmony is a real hoot. You got a problem with southern states? We are doing fine without your Yankee presence. Why don't you go on a hunger strike to whip us into shape? Your death by starvation would be one less loudmouth to put up with.

You have been victimized by propaganda. The truth is, Mandela was not imprisoned for opposing apartheid, or segregation, in Africa, but for being a communist terrorist murderer-bomber in service to the Soviet Union. Do some research and then talk shit. Paint him as a man of the people, but the truth says different. You have fallen victim to the portrait of a terrorist in the guise of a freedom fighter. Funny how a pawn in the scheme becomes a hero. The old dude was just a figurehead with his head in hate and his persona played up to be a hero. Sort of like Farrakhan in a white dress with frills and lace. Wake up, smell the watermelon you dummy.

I cannot believe you people think Nelson Mandela actually did anything. He was only a figurehead aimed at an excuse to have the South African nation declare apartheid reform. He was only an icon aimed to make you idiots believe he actually had some control. Let me hear your rendition of "Old Man River". The fact is, he was just an unsatisfied Negro hell bent on making a name for himself in spite of his hatred for white people. Do some research and don't try to tell me he was a mild mannered pariah. The man was knee deep in communist values and politics and being used as a symbol of an excuse to go with the money. South Africa did away with the status quo simply because money talked, no more, no less. It can be hidden as a social reform agenda, but we all know better.

Look at the rhetoric of you ignorant ass redneck FOX NEWS NAZI PUPPETS.

Your pathetic lives aren't worth living.

I long for the day the civil war starts
I swear By God, I'll enjoy every moment of it.

The only good teabagger is the one that's screaming in vain for pity.

Upper East Tennessee is a shitbag of stupid worthless CHURCHITTY church garbage, and you aren't worth shining mandalas shoes. Hell, Russia's better of than you, matter of fact, I'd befriend al-Qaeda before I would a teabagger. Maybe someday I'll get a chance to join forces with Al-Qaeda to eradicate the REICHT wing.

You're absolute garbage

You need to do some research. Mandela was a known communist supporter and was supported by them. You may consider him a saint, but history shows he was in favor and also supported violence. Twice during his imprisonment he was offered release if he would condemn violence. He refused. The former Soviet Union was the biggest supporter of apartheid while most eastern nations ignored it. It isn't hard to find pictures of Mandela posed in front of the hammer and sickle with his fist raised in salute. Don't feel too bad, Lenny. Many others have been taken in by this hype. Mandela was just another thug being sanitized by the media.

Wouldn't have anything to do with his being black would it? Just saying there's a pattern forming among the enormous stupidity of the south again. I have a TDHIRT that reads on the front "THE SOUTHS GONNA DO IT AGAIN" and the back says "AND THEY ARE FONNA GET WHAT THEY GOT LAST TIME"

You could lump up every tea bagger politician in America and heave them into a river in a burlap sack and it would equal the loss of one of mandellas sandals.

Frankly, I'll take Russis and communism over whatever the teabaggers and FOX news has in mind.

The fact that Mandela was black has little to do with the facts, other than the fact that a non minority in his position would get zero sympathy. If you folk can get off the North and South horseshit, then maybe you can add a helpful response. This thread should not have anything to do with Teabaggers or any political offshoot. You want to drag politics into any and all posts.
Fact: Mandela was a pawn and associated with the communist party
Fact: He supported violence as a solution
Fact: He was rubbing shoulders with the Soviet Union
Fact: You have been hoodwinked

Here's a fact; Mandela is not a minority. The whites were the minority in South Africa. And they used brutal tactics and violence to maintain power. Mandela received support from the communist governments because our government was backing the white minority, much as we have supported dictators and authoritarian governments when it benefits us. Mandela was using a means to an end. If someone was oppressing you, would you fight back? Think back to 1776 and the American revolution. Under your logic, the men we call patriots and forefathers should be called terrorists instead. And I really don't think you believe that, or at least I hope you do not. Mandela spent 27 years in prison as a political prisoner. He went in as an aggressive revolutionary and came out as a more passive leader who has helped to set up and lead a democratic government. To South Africans, he is their George Washington.

Minority in the sense of guilt sympathy for a black man. I think you know what I mean. I'm glad to see someone admit he was no pacifist and was indeed aligned with the communist party. There is plenty of blood on his hands. Of course after his passion play he became the pres. Did he actually accomplish anything thereafter? He was a puppet.

Thank you Carl.

These white superior thinkers can't get it through their head that they don't have to wear a hood to be a racist. They are oppressors by their nature. It's like they can't function if they aren't holding somebody down. And when that person fights back, they wonder why. It's because they aren't aware of themselves. They never take a personal inventory of any kind. They look to see what's wrong with the world and not themselves. The osiers states got their oppression tickets back from Scalia this year and set us back another forty years. Geez. Stupidity all the way at the top.

Guarantee you could ask 100 people downtown why they hate Russia and all they could tell you is "They're Communists" and then you could ask them what a communist was, and they wouldn't be able to define it. Maybe one or two could.

Had I been Mandela (PREPRISON) there would have been a hell of a lot of violence. And I would have accepted help from anyone. Frankly, my hats kinda off to Russia for helping Mandela.

It's been a good week for the Teabagger Nazi party and Faux News hasn't it?

1) the mouth Limbaugh called the pope a Marxist.
2) Mandela was a communist.
3) Unemployment dropped to 7%(Ypu know that's killing them)
4) then the teabagger senator who wanted to drug test snap recipients gets caught with cocaine.
And didn't zimmerman (the poster child for responsible gun owners) get arrested again?

Fact : 80% of whites in Mississippi think that interracial Marraige should be illegal.
Fact : Faux news announced that racism has ended when they announced the death of Rosa Parks.

They are constitutionally incapable of dealing with truth. Their elected leaders are anti-democracy state senators and reps. This is upper East Tennessee, where the bigger crook wins. It's both upside down and backwards. The most shameful, and most disgusting thing I think I've ever seen are cowards suck as these that would sellout their country and our way of life for money and power. I absolutely loathe them.

Nobody has sympathy for Mandela. He asked for none. As far as his accomplishments, I would say that his negotiations and help in drafting and then signing the constitution, which brought about a democracy, not a communist state as fox would have everyone believe, is an accomplishment in itself. Especially when you consider the atrocities, which were brutal, perpetrated upon the ethnic majority by an extremely oppressive government. Mandela was a firm believer in democracy, which is why South Africa is still a democracy today. Basically, he was a patriot and the father of his country.

South Africa is a socialist train wreck. To call it a democracy is a sadly gray area. Some policies slightly resemble a democracy but many are socialist. The economy is stagnant, unemployment is rampant, the standard of living is deplorable, AIDS is soaring, and the citizens are fed up with the government. Atrocities and foreign intervention are everyday things there. Sounds like Mandelas puppet masters really did a bang up job there.

You know, I was almost taking you seriously until that last post. If east Tn is such a hellhole, why are you still here? Bitch and moan all you want, but you ain't coming clean. Try the old "you dumb hillbillies" offense, and all that up and coming pc correct defender of the dumb jive. What it all boils down to is the fact that you have become one of the followers of the "new wave of reasoning" aka: "let me do my own thing and the hell with you and your values, no matter how wrong I am". You can blame it all on Tea party, Democrats, Republicans, or any other jumped up defense. All in all, it is more or less you being led around and being told how to be accepted by a bunch of parasites. Nelson Mandela is dead. His legacy is no more than a hyped up tale of a wolf in sheep's clothing. Being dead has its advantages......you can't be cross examined.

Welcome to East Tn, BelZar..........now go home. Your loyalties seem to go from one extreme to another. Let me see, you thrive on liberty, want a civil war, and are ever so judgmental of your fellow southerners. I must admit, your credentials would prevent you from joining even a terrorist outfit from a lack of focus. As if it would happen (and we know it won't) if a civil war erupted, who would you expect to take care of your indecisive ass?
