I drive through this area all the time-I do see quite a few deer standing on the side of the road, but I've never seen a body of a dead deer (road kill) or one in the road-it's like they know not to go in the street. But I guess not since this happened. This is so sad. Poor little girl and her family. Maybe Metro needs to "thin the herd" and open up some deer hunting in the area. A human life is worth more than a deer.

This is so sad. It makes you appreciate your children even more because you never know when one can be tragically taken from you. My prayers are with this family. We live in an area heavily populated by deer as well and even in the daytime I often see them in the road or running across the road.

This is a lesson to every person who has downed the centuries old practice of deer hunting and ever said...."dont kill the little deer...they are so cute." Yeah, cute until they are so overpopulated that they come crashing through your windshield and kill your daughter and family.

Incredibly tragic. Can't believe we are reading this today. Our prayers go out to this family. I drove by this exact intersection w. my own daughter an hour earlier after church and did not see any deer. Lately, there's been a herd of 4-10 at dusk. I have not seen this in the police report & I'm not an auto expert, but was wondering why would the air bags have not gone off in the BMW upon the deer's impact to the windshield? That poor girl was in the back seat of the car w/ seat belt on?

it's my understanding that she was belted in the back seat. the animal came into the vehicle and hit her where she sat, belted in.

I've always heard it doesn't take much of a injury to the head to kill a person. We have to remember, seat belt or not if this child was struck in the head she did not have a chance. When any animal comes through the windshield of a auto, the force alone is great. I do not believe airbags would have helped in this situation.
It is just a tragic accident that could not be helped.
My condolences to the family on their great loss.

I lost one of my children in a car accident many years ago. All I wanted to do was to was to run away from the pain, in anyway possible. May God give this family wisdom and strength to endure this tragedy.

That area is known for a lot of deer.
You must be watching both sides as you go down the road and be ready to act. I live not far from there and when I need to go into Bellevue I stay in the right lane and let the speed Demons go to the left
