What happened to the video cameras that were installed in the buses that the school owned or leased before they went with the outside contractors? Maybe they can get the Transport/security manager can get the answer?

In the last few weeks Jim Thorpe School Board has been dealing with the issue of school bus monitors. You might ask what is the big deal let the contractors pay for the monitors like the board has stated. It's a lot more complex than that. It's very easy to place the blame on one or the other. But the real problem still exists how do you keep kids from K-12 as safe as possible while your driving on the district roads. Here are some of the problems a driver must deal with, people running the red STOP lights and not stoping, deer running out infront of you, cars pulling out infront of you because they don't want to be behind you, parents telling you what they want you to do with their child on the bus, parents not being at the place to pickup their kindergartner or first graders, poorly plowed roads then comes the BIGGEST problem while doing this the driver must make sure 40to70 students are sitting down, face front, no yelling, no fighting, no bulling, are not throwing items, no eating, no pencils out so as not to accidentally stab them self or another student, and all the while being behind the wheel of a 8 ton machine of death. We have to watch student as their getting on and getting off making sure their not it the danger zone of the bus. Don't get me wrong a school bus is the safest way a student can be taken to school just on their basic design.
The biggest issue example: high school student gets yelled at on the bus because he is pissed off decides he is going to lay in the road infront of the bus, what action should the school take? response by the school one day off the bus. When it is an issue on the bus the school district need to address this more seriously than they do problem in the school. Not just by punishing them but by educating them get them to understand why they need to follow the bus rules and the driver. The drivers aren't correcting any of them because we want to but because we have to it's our job to get these kids home as safe as we can but we need the proper support. Thank you for your time to read this!

I have been been driving a school bus for only a year. I am still a rookie. Students from 5th and 6th grades through 12th. 100% minority challanged every day. I do not want an aid nor a camera on my bus. Captains mantain control of thier ships. I just bought a house in the Jim Thorpe area. Hope to be driving with you next year.

We can make Dennis the grand poobar of the transportation system, although Gerry won't listen to him, but, then again, Gerry can't listen to anybody. They can monitor each other, that would be interesting.

Maybe the parents should teach their kids to stop acting like animals instead of relying on the bus drivers/monitors/teachers/cros sing guards and cops to,do the parenting for them.
