Nows the time folks, you might actually get a chance to own your home. This unfair system of school taxes must come to an end. Read up on it and encourage it to pass!!!

I always had this question? Why do I have to pay school tax, when I do not have any kids?

Because the welfare scumbags with six kids don't.
You're paying for their rent, heat, electricity, health care, booze, smokes, drugs, and food, why shouldn't you pay for their kid.s schooling, free breackfast, lunches, and if they stay for the school's after school babysitting service called Shine, you get to pay for their supper.
Are you telling us that you're not willing to do your part to keep these leaches, breeding generation after generation?

Everyone pays school tax because the quality of the schools directly effect the value of the property. The taxes have gotten out of hand because our legislature isn't able to do anything properly, but the basis for having the taxes in the first place is sound.

the only way a person should pay school tax is if they have a kid in that school....why should a person pay a school tax if they have no kids in school

have been out of school for 25 years, and I still have to send my yearly "donation" to a failing school (Panther Valley). It's time to give home owners a break.

You truly believe that nonsense? Stop taking the so-called "experts" opinions as hard facts. Think for yourself.

So with that logic, I shouldn't to pay borough taxes since I've never used the police or fire department and none of us should have to pay county taxes, since we all know those 3 clowns do nothing but waste money on pet project like packerton swamp

You use faulty logic. Bad analogy, poor retort.

I don't know what "experts" you're talking about, but it's common sense. Want a factual example? PV has a crappy school system...how are property values in PV these days?

Could they do away with most of the school property taxes? Sure, but it only works if you ensure that schools have a minimum level of funding when we have an economic downturn and our sales & income tax collections go way down. No way the legislature will do anything that responsible so just leave it the way it is. And SHAME on Yudichak for lending his name to that bill.

I don't like paying my property tax any more than the next person, but I would rather see our future not be decimated. I would be in favor of doing away with property taxes if there were conditions set forth where the education funding was guaranteed a certain level each year. The other bungle with HB76 is that it doesn't fix the pension issue. It's basically just a ploy to screw over the teachers the way that its written now.

Why dont you tell the 352 families that lost their homes in the last 3 months in Berks county due to foreclosure that everything should stay the same just so as long as teachers don't get screwed, Shame on YOU for being so ignorant to the fact that property taxes are unfair and out of control. its overdue for something to get done about it. Before another family is kicked to the curb...

As far as guaranteeing school funding maybe you need to read the bill it guarantees the money and guarantees that wasteful spending will be changed to responsible spending!

At enactment of The Property Tax Independence Act, all districts will receive 100% funding sufficient to meet all financial obligations with a dollar-for-dollar replacement of the eliminated property tax. In the future, every district will receive identical percentage annual base funding increases that will be limited to the increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), effectively tying annual school budget increases to the increase in available revenue and economic activity.

The schools have funding now and the future is still going down hill. If we gave panther valley more money do you think the kids would do any better in classes? Or would we buy new gym equipment and maintence trucks? Money does not equal a better education, better education requires the students to actually care about their lives and put forth an effort

. So when income tax and sales tax receipts are down due to economic conditions we're just supposed to trust that idiots like Argall won't screw our kids over. Ill pass on that.
