Ladysmith cop unlikely to face criminal charges for text messages

No criminal charges are expected against a Ladysmith police officer who allegedly sent inappropriate text messages to a 16-year-old girl, according to a Chippewa County Sheriff's Department report released Thursday.

If this was any one else but a stupid cop they would file charges. This is bull crap any way you look at it. I believe they call this sexting nowadays. He is a cop in a school full of kids and he has shown he is attracted to them. Safety officer my azs telling kids how to avoid people like him. It hasn't reached a criminal activity level yet because he was busted to soon. Just another example of cops doing what ever the hell they want.

None of you know what the text messages contained. This article never said anything about the content! Agreed it was totally inappropriate, but as far as him getting off cuz he was a cop is ridiculous. Quit being so quick to judge when you don't know the whole story! Just be glad they took a proactive approach and let this guy go from the force.

Pretty much agree - without knowing the content of the messages its hard to say if his actions were criminal or just plain stupid. If any of the messages were soliciting in nature then he deserves to be tried and convicted and spend some quality time flirting with Bubba (I hear they have a real fondness for ex cops and pedophiles). On the other hand his career in law enforcement is over and I have to think his relationship with the missus isn't going to be the same. Besides, the article quotes the victim as being "flexible with the truth" leading me to believe she wasn't 100% innocent either even if she is a minor.
