Never heard of it. Very familiar with 169/Lanes Bridge Rd. Not familiar with Oriole Rd. What do you know about it?

Leave Jesup North on 169? toward Appling Co. Just before Appling Co. line, Oriole Rd is on the right. Turn right and it's on the left. Mosque and all.

any one reading this post and any other news about the terrorist group in the odum area should be down right mad as hell. i live in the general area and have been to the site off of oriole rd. this is no place for any one to be unless they are looking for trouble. i was actually at the area when it was being developed. its hard to imagine that when im done working at the end of the day that a majority of my earned money will be taken for taxes that is suppose to better serve me. i am not arguing about the taxes but by god use the money to fight against such places as the one in the odum area. i could right for days about this but i would like to see what others have to say...

I have been there too. They aren't 'hiding out' like the media portrays. They have been quite visible in the community. Anyway, I did some construction work there. Nice enough folks to me.

Sounds like somebody was paid off to let them build in Wayne County. I am sure they could have kept them out if they wanted to.

Rumor has it that the land these people posess was purchaced from a well known timber company with holdings in the area at auction out of Atlanta. I have heard rumor that they will not let fire trucks cross to fight fires. They meet delivery trucks at gate which is locked. If they are here simply to worship there religion in peace why should they keep the world locked out if they do not have something to hide, never seen the doors of our churches locked up 24-7? These people need our prayers and to know that they are being watched.

Of course we should not judge people based on stereotypes without just cause. But, we should also be aware of what is going on around us and be cautious, just as we should be if there were a Christian group living nearby, who separated themselves from the rest of the community, behind locked gates.

I have relatives that are Muslim and live in that community. They have a gate because of an incident with an intruder who showed up with a video camera and took video footage of small children at play. He was sighted and left before the cops could be called.(He would have been lucky to have only had the calls called if he was on my property) What would you do? The stuff about not accepting deliveries or fire-trucks is simply untrue. In fact, go one step further: Call the Jesup Firehouse; they have hosted fieldtrips from the children of that community.

Shyshy, yes Muslims are close. Muslims have been a part of the South in particular for 400+ years. How? History records that Africans (I admit Muslim, as well Christian) were forced into slavery and brought to the southern shores to help build it. Their decendents (Christian and Muslim) now enjoy the fruits of that labor.

Shooter, why did you fail to mention that the general area is a favored by hunters for deer?
Like you, I have read this rumor as well. And I think that it's a bit insincere to mention the unfounded, unverifable, "neigbor" as the source.

The youths that you mentioned committed a crime and got what they deserved. You will not find anyone from that community embracing what they did. In fact, I understand that they were not permitted, by the community elders, to live there because of their prior criminal behavior. It's unfortunate that because they had roots in the area, that it somehow gets reflected on the community which had nothing to do with it. Most work hard to peacefully raise their families. The two 20 year-old yound men are in prison paying doing time along with others from a non-muslim majority. How many communities of that non-muslim prison majority stand in judgement? We should reflect on that.
