Well, Pruitt is leaving Fitzgerald for the 2nd time to chase the green, this time in Jesup. Congrats to the county as he is a great coach. There were several reasons he is leaving. 1st-Wayne is making him the highest paid coach in GA. 2nd- Wayne county has a lower percentage of blacks and a better school board. 3rd-Wayne County is supposedly buying all the retirement back for he and his wife from Florida. 4th-new truck and alot of promises of big time investments( field house, weightroom, etc) 5th- extra pay for playoffs to include all of the staff. He is bringing at least 5 coaches with him and all the spouses teach as well. Pruitt does not teach, he only coaches. The package is so good that the local HS principal will probably go with him.
That is a huge investment for a county. Evidently Wayne County is starving to win. Your economy, evidently, has not been hit as hard as Ben Hill County. Good luck. He will make the team an instant winner but I do not believe he can win a state championship in Jesup. Too many great teams in AAAA. He will get there and will start seeing better things everywhere else. The entire time in Fitzgerald, he made comments that everyone had better athletes, the best athletes stayed in trouble, the white kids are too soft, too many people are going to the private school, etc.
I am a little disgusted that he has no loyalty to a community that gave him everything he asked for. Fitzgerald gave him more than they could really afford.

Makes sense $$$$$:
Here in Wayne county most of the school/tax money goes to Athletics, not academics: New tennis courts/ball fields/etc: See it in the paper every week, spending money on sports:

The Wayne Co school board has finally sealed their fate come the next election. There is no way the taxpayers can afford paying so much for an AD and turn the other in to an overpaid gym teacher. Our whole school system is a joke. It concentrates to much on attendance and taking care of the underachievers then it does on the kids that really want to be there. Our schools are polluted withover paid babysitters doing nothing all day. Now we get to have a new AD for probably about $115 thousand a year.

WHY are we paying a non-teacher the equivalent of three teacher's salaries and furloughing our teachers? Why does our school board think that new tennis courts are more important than programs like the ROTC? HOW did we come to the conclusion that school is about recreation instead of education? Yeah, Johnny can't read but he can shore can run dat ball! What map were we reading when we decided to leave REALITY?
