First things first. I don't know of any CEO that has made a billion dollars. Just who do you think you are to say what salary a person should make every year. You have a lot of nerve. Its O.K. for you to get as much as you can, but you will decide what a persons worth is? You can do that if you own your own company. You can help decide that if you are a stockholder in a company and vote for the CEO's and officers of the company. What are you? A Mrs. Mayor Bloomberg? A Mrs. Fidel Castro?
Common sense says that if we don't think that some person or product is not worth the money, then we don't buy it. If someone else does think it is worth the money they will buy it. I don't care if it is a movie star, rap singer, ceo, football player, baseball player, automobile, tv or whatever. Let the free market work. Otherwise you might be working for $3.00 an hour for 16 hours a day. But again at this time, you have the freedoom to quit and choose to go to another job for $18.00 an hour and only work a 8 hour day.
You probably think what money you make is probably somewhat fair. I am sure you want more if you could get it. One of your co-workers thinks you make too much and that you aren't worth it. Does she have the right to tell your boss that he must give you a pay cut? How would you like that. She is only doing what you are saying that you want to do.
Go back to the ONLY link I've posted on CEOs salaries. I think it was sentence 2 or 3. Wow....that flew right by ya. Larry Ellison- Oracle, if I recall correctly...... So you've heard of one now.

Who cares? I don't care if they make 15 billion. I may not think they are worth it, and you may not think they are worth that much, but the company that hires them does. If the company can't compete with the price of their product paying someone 15 billion then they will try to hire him at 5 billion.
If the government or you starts setting salaries on healthcare then what is next? They will have to set salaries on every profession in this country. Yours included. Your salary may be cut or you may never get another raise.
It is called quantity and demand that runs this country. It controls all wages and prices of materials and goods. If true competition is left alone it is a fair deal for everyone involved. Everyone leaves with a smile on their face.

You've just made about 6 posts in a row, every one of them nothing more than insulting people. No discussing facts or positions, no real arguments of any kind - just insulting people. Is that what it takes for you start your day? Is your self-loathing so strong?
"Or, it could be because I was at work till about 8 last night, and was dealing with family/friend issues between posts here last night and am back at work at 7:00 am this morning?"

Possibly. Possibly another Straw man argument. Only you know. I doubt anyone cares. Interesting timing, though...

My facts and opinions on politics and taxes have been documented many times before, no need to rehash them, particularly when the clueless and uneducated can't and don't address the issues presented by them...

Yep, you don't care if children die and seniors suffer because billions that should be spent on medical care is churned into profit for private companies and billions for their CEOs.

We wouldn't expect any more from you.

That would require common sense and rational thought.

Larry Ellison is not a regular CEO. He is a co-founder of Oracle, which means he owns Oracle and is not just a person hired to run the company. BTW he is worth 43 billion dollars. I bet he thinks he is worth all that money as he created and owns the company and got rich off it.

<quoted text> Yeah, I know I am back tracking but the more I read this I just had to reply.
You shouldn't assume so much. I am and have never been a CEO. I worked all my life as either a blue collar worker or a skilled technician. I worked hard to accumulate everything that I have. So I know nothing about sitting in one of those soft chairs that you speak of.
Just where do you get your mind reading skills from? Go back there and tell them you want your money back.
I have thought a lot about the little man as I was one of THEM. So what? I made some mistakes as everyone does, but I guess you didn't, and could have done much better than I did with my life.I don't really know how much I would change if I could go back. I got what I gave.
I relate very well to all types of people. I look down on no man and I judge him by his character not his paycheck. A man is a man and he is only as good as what he does when he thinks no one is watching him. This goes for you too.
I think I have a very good idea of what is going on in this country and how people are treated. This country has been divided so it will fail. You are not helping by trying to divide the poor people and people that are better off. I don't think that was you intentions but that is what you are doing.
That was a good reply,BigDave.

She does an awful lot of assuming.

Yesterday she assumed I'm a country-club attending multimillionaire.

According to her I hate children, I'm a blasphemer that takes Gods name in vain, I hate poor people, and I hate black people. I mock the sick and I'm degrading to women. I am the "evil man" who keeps the little people down.

None of which is accurate in the least, as many of you know. But she doesn't seem to care that she unfairly and with no basis accuses people of whatever she likes.

It seems that if you disagree with her, you're going to be called a rapist or a witch or a child molester or whatever strikes her hysterical little mind at the moment.

I'd call that one hell of a character flaw.

First you deny it happened.

Then when proven wrong you say it doesn't matter because it was almost - Gasp- 8 years ago. That's a million years to a Right Winger -history bores them.

So now you admit that McGuire did get over a BILLION in just a Golden Parachute - not including the regular compensation.

But it doesn't matter because he was even though given a BILLION DOLLARS that could have been used for healthcare - it's OK because he was fired for getting caught stealing even more from the shareholders.

Does that thinking actually make sense to even you ?

Thanks for admitting you were wrong.

And now your new theory is that it doesn't matter because he was forced to disgorge some of the more than BILLION DOLLARS he was paid as a golden parachute .

Ain't that great - in Right Wing America, if you steal a BILLION DOLLARS - that's fine - as long as you have to give some of it back.

And on Planet Earth he have up a small portion, not "most".

Here's a more bit of info for you.

This guy got OVER TWO BILLION DOLLARS in compensation.

That's TWO BILLION DOLLARS.

Fact:

.. In fact, by the end of 2005, McGuire's total take for his career as CEO had a staggering paper value of $2 billion....

Yep, how many sick children could have been treated and maybe given life with TWO BILLION DOLLARS.

Ah, never mind, we worship those who steal the most - and if people died to make McGuire a few Billion Dollars - well that's what our Capitalist God would want.

Let us pray:

Dear God of Unregulated Capitalism.

We gather today to worship those amongst us who have accumulated the most money, as we know it was Your will they do so.
We especially worship our brother McGuire, who managed to divert Two Billion Dollars to his personal aggrandizement at the cost of the sickness and death if those denied medical care.
Truly you found him to be worthy of Billions and found the sick and dying unworthy.
We can take a hint.
Curse those who have not accumulated sufficient material goods we hold in contempt and decision as we know you teach.
As Jesus said - the meek shall inherit the earth - and we know that meant give the poor the dirt they deserve.
Please make me rich.
I owe my neighbor nothing - it's every man for himself - unless if course I need help.
Please look out for the rich, the healthy, and those fortunate enough to have avoided sickness and disaster.

Blessed be the almighty dollar.

Amen.
