It's about time officials are taking action. Prisoners are Not Hotel Guests!! Any Phone Calls should be limited to two a week to begin with.

this is unbelievable, why does an inmate need a cell phone for what? some of these people that run these jails are idiots, then they wonder how some of the inmates get drugs and what have you into the jail system.
they can call anyone they want on the cell phone.

no wonder why half the criminals on the street commit crimes, they know if they go to jail its almost better than them being on the streets, hell they get to eat for free, free rent, free television, free cell phone usage, free clothes and they get play time outside lol for an hour

Cell phones in prisions. Come now. These men/women are criminals. They're not on vacation. It's bad enough we're (the taxpayers) are keeping them. In my opinion, no cell phones, no phone calls or TV. If they communication w/their families, let their familes go to them. If prisions want use a speaker system for radio to all cells. Play time - heck no! Let them all rot -

Just give this some time to cook...

Pretty soon the ACLU will be suing the department of corrections in those states demanding the prisoner's get their cell phones back.

Dollars to donuts, there will be posts here that demand the same thing.

Why is it that people think that going to prison shouldn't be an inconvenience to the criminals?

Once their locked up, forget phone calls. You lost your right to talk to the outside world. If you can't get the information in a letter, don't worry about it until you get out...

Sounds good to me. Prison is suuposed to be a punishment, as well as rehabilitation. It's not supposed to be a springboard for even MORE illegal activity inside or outside the prison walls.

It was very impressive on TV this morning. The K-9's are trained to sniff out the phones! They've been running their "business enterprises" via the phones. I'd hate to find out how the phones were smuggled in in the first place.

It's really hilarious how so much "STUFF" can be smuggled in to prisons! What is the main purpose of employing the guards, if not to make sure that the inmates follow the rules!!! The whole idea is the guards are supposed to be smarter than the inmates!!!

Oh please! I personally know three prison guards and the combined education of the threee barly gets you a high school education.

The inmates are getting this stuff from the guards themselves. If someone offered you $100 to you for your phone that most likely you got for free wouldn't you take it. Besides the money, the inmates are probably offering the guards protection too!

The prisoners do not deserve creature comforts. A bed, clean uniform, basic food, exercise and a library is about it.

oh please my a-s-s you must be a former convict if you think its acceptable for these low lifes to have ammenities, they lost that priviledge when they decided to act like morons.
Jail is meant for them not to have anything but food, water and excercise.

A criminal doesnt deserve anything more than that.

It's the guards who either bring it in or allow it to get by them. The system needs to look at that. I know some one who was in a federal prison and a cell phone was left outside the garbage dump for them.

The correctional officers are in the position to exploite these imates for money. The officers have found a need and they are supplying it for money.
The goverment is having a challenge getting rid of contraband on the streets and now they are trying to get rid of it in the jail. One thing that is for sure is..you have to go through the administration to get it.

The sysytem has a real obstacle and it is ..honest people.

I know a young lady who works in corrections that was a theft, her father was always going to get her as a juvenlie. She is a correctional officer now. Where do you close the gap?
