A tragedy, indeed, but not much info...rear-ender? Failure to yield?

The driver of the vehicle that struck the box truck crossed the median and went head on in to the box truck at an estimated speed of 45-50mph.

The box truck was a larger sized (over 26,001lbs).

I live in the area where this accident occured. I made a comment last week when there was yet another accident in this same area. The comment I made was "is it going to take someone to get killed here before they put a signal up. I did not know it was going to happen in such a short time. Now maybe the state will wake up and put up a signal in this section of route 1

Thats some of the problems we have here in CHarles county... fast lanes and no traffic lights to slow down cars. How many people have to die.. before something is done. Does the representatives that we voted in just turn the other cheek.. i think so. I hope the person that survived is blessed and I will keep them in my prayers that they are all right!

I want to send prayers out to the victims and their families, including the truck driver.

I also want to send prayers to the First Responders (Cops and Firemen) that had to deal with the accident.
Too often we foget that it is traumatic for them in a different way.

How would a traffic signal have prevented this accident ? The accident was caused when the driver of the vehicle went into the opposing lanes of traffic. Even if there was a traffic signal at the intersection it would not have prevented the accident.
