Jehovah's Witnesses lose their discount at a Journal Square parking lot

The Square ramp parking garage in Jersey City, which had been giving discounts to the Jehovah's Witnesses at Journal Square.

"In today's Jersey Journal, a letter was submitted to Harwood Properties LLC and city Human Rights Commissioner Melvin Prince from the Freedom From Religion Foundation requesting that Jehovah's Witnesses stop getting discounts at the the Journal Square Ramp parking deck on Pavonia Avenue.

"Providing discounts only to members of the Jehovah's Witness faith violates the federal Civil Rights act, along with the New Jersey state law and city code of Jersey City," wrote Rebecca Kratz, staff attorney for the Freedom From Religion Foundation.

The letter asserts that the church was not subsidizing the $3 discount. After the letter was sent, the lot began offering a $4 discount, according to a press release from Freedom From Religion Foundation. The regular rate is $8 for up to 10 hours.

The sign advertising the discount for Jehovah's Witnesses has been removed, but the lot advertises other discounts, including for college students.

Other parking lots in Journal Square said they offer discounts to the Jehovah's Witnesses who worship at the Stanley Theater, as well as to employees of businesses in Journal Square."

No where in that article does it say Jehovah's Witnesses asked for the discount.

It seems to me that the various parking areas were/are vying for business and offering discounts to those who make frequent use of them.

How is that an issue? Don't business have the option to offer discounts?

I realy dont have a problem with parlikng discounts.I guess any large gathering of people that have annual gigs would get a deal for their business.I have more of a problem with the wt org's killing of innocent people with their no organ transplant rule and no blood rule.I think they should have to pay families of jw members that died when they couldnt get a life saving organ or blood transfusion.And all the children taht were molested and the perverts that werent reported to the police.

I agree that there is a huge pile of mounting problems within the "pure religion" that deal with perversions, pedophiles, breaking up of families, etc....but the idea that JWs expect special privileges JUST BECAUSE they are JWs....only adds to that pile.
