Time and time again Vermonters and orginizations have prevented the construction of numerous small generating stations distributed throughout the state. It should be obvious by now that what Vermonters endorse is anything that does not end up in their backyards. One or two baseload generating stations will be most cost effective long term as any proposal will take years to resolve as the NIMBY lawsuits pour in. Other than baseload stations, creative contributions towards the energy mix such as requiring new commercial and industrial construction to include on site solar, geo thermal or wind power coupled with a sizable tax incentive. The same should be required for large scale apartment / condo complexes and perhaps large scale renovation projects. To suggest that Vermonters will allow anyghing like what Candidate Symington has described is to ignore the peoples voice.
