If all the facts were correct , Than score one for sanity.A parent needs to be able to set appropriate guidelines for their children.

Many teens show a lack of respect by the language they use, the tone of voice they use and the parents are afraid to discipline them. Many teens talk to their teachers with such disrespect and then the parents bail them out. What high school school was it that the kid was suspended for cursing and threatening a teacher and the parents were yelling about him loosing a posible baseball scholarship?

I'm wondering if the mother continued to collect child support from the father after the daughter moved out.
The daughter was only suing her mother for support because Social Services REQUIRED her to as an offset of the welfare monies they were giving the daughter. The daughter doesn't care if they don't award her the support because she's still going to collect her welfare check anyhow. The state just isn't going to get paid back for supporting the daughter by the mother.

18 is old enough to get a job and support herself. If she couldn't, she should have stayed with her mother and obeyed her rules. Sounds like a brat to me.

I too am wondering if the mother was still recieving child support from the father.I am no great fan of Family Court having been there more times than I can count.I am a single father raising twin boys and I have had my child support cut in half by letting one of my sons have dinner a few times a week with his maternal grandmother. If the shoe was on the other foot you can be sure I'd be paying the full amount. If the father was still paying child support guess what He can't get it back.I think they're biased.

You know, I didn't see the father mentioned at all. Social services would have required the young lady to sue both of her parents, since they have an equal obligation to support her, and the father would have then taken action to terminate his payments to the mother (if any) because the young aldy isn't living with the mother.
So I have no idea how you people are trying to twist this into a battle between custodial and noncustodial parents. |

A judge with some sense at last. Time to grow up, sweetie -- you wanted it, you got it!! Nothing in this world is free -- DEAL.
no, wait...she did sue both parents:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/familyrights/me... the things this kid is complaining about...it sounds like her parents were very strict with her, more so than most parents, but certainly not abusive. |
That's the problem today. Sure - the parents have rules and the kids "DON'T WANT TO LISTEN"? What is this? Who's raising who? "If you don't like it - get out"! I'm sick of all the **** that goes on today.
Strict does not mean abuse....although telling a teenage to clean their room! OM MY - some people would think it's abuse. But tell a teen to do something they don't want to -- then they answer you back, you reprimand them and the fight is on. How can we stop this??? Well let's take away the computer, the cell phone, ipod, Xbox, let's see what else do they have??? It's ridiculous! I say we all go back to basics. Parents discipline and the children listen. It's not a hear thing to understand. My grandmother had a saying "children should be seem and not heard" AMEN! |

But the girl has money to hire a lawyer?????????? and time on her hands to go to court whenever necessary? Good, glad the judges finally got one right! These entitled brats need to know that they need to grow up and support themselves. Stop being such a drain on society.
Yeah, but who's gonna cover the porr mom for her legal and other expenses caused by this nonsense?? It's a disgrace. |

I am pretty sure the lawyer took it on figuring to win. If they won the lawyer would have in all probability gotten a piece of the pie - so to say. I tend to doubt it was pro-bono |

Our country is chock-full of "little brats" who will, very soon, be "big brats," just like this girl. Don't believe me? Try going out to eat where little kids are in the restaurant. Trying shopping for clothes, shopping for groceries, etc. Kids run absolutely wild! They say, "NO!" when they are reprimanded, scream in their parents faces, crawl on the floor, crawl on the tables, wander around, etc., etc. And I wonder... would these parents discipline (not abuse) their children if they didn't have to worry that they'd go to jail for it? I think they would. Children need boundaries from their parents at an early age and on through their teens and parents need the freedom to do so. Once established, kids need "encouragement" to stay within those boundaries. This gives children security and a healthy respect for their parents. This girl is definitely a royal brat, but her parents are at least partly to blame. Somewhere along the line, they dropped the ball and let their girl "get her own way." The behavior she is displaying now is a result of how she was raised. This wonderful judge is probably the first one to follow through with much-needed discipline. I salute this good judge!

When the going gets tough with mom, call dad.

Good. Just another lesson for this youngster. I hate even younger kids telling their mommies, " If you hit me I'll sue".
It states it here but they do seem to get too involved in the discipline rights of parents. The government cannot tell a person how to discipline their child," said Ubillus' lawyer, Sean Sabeti, of Jericho. "Courts have no place in your living room unless you do something criminal," he said. |

WHOA!!!! My tax dollar is paying for this girls imitation Independents?? The System does not work. |
