Jericho fire chief resigns

JERICHO, Ark. - The volunteer fire chief for the town of Jericho has resigned after his department failed to respond to a house fire that left a man dead.

There's more to this story. A Fire Department without radios? In this day and time? How could the Mayor and Police chief (who appears to be over the fire department if he can fire the fire chief) allow this to happen? Way too many grants out there for this to happen. Has this department been getting 833 money?

there is more to the story the mayor .she had the firetruck locked in..the firechief wasnt even in town and the other guys tried to respond,but could get the truck because of her,,yes she needs to be replaced,the newspaper apolized to the chief,for the write up because they were misinformed..

About time fire chief left he need to get out of there he couldnt even run the fire dep. because he works in blyville and has guys with no training run the department someone was going to end up hurt and i hope that the new chief well run it a HELL of a whole lot better.

This sould have happened about the so called fire chief, because he DON'T know how to operate a FIRE D.P..
He can't even apply for grants because he does nothing but "LIE"
He says that he will do this---do that----but nothing ever comes out of it!
Why do u think he is working out of town??

they have some good fire fighters in jericho but you are right they need to shut down the police department and the fire department and let marion take over there fire dep. system and the county take over the police dep. system cause marion is the BEST fire department you will ever see they have great fire fighters and great response time

I have a good friend of mine thats on the jericho f.d and he says that his chief don is a prick and that he is gettin tired of him useing him like a damn slave. don dont know how to do crap but screw things up and use ppl and treat them like dogs.

yea i am a jericho fire fighter and i cant stand don he sucks as a chief now the fire fighters are good but don sucks hell the fire fighters act more like a chief than he does hell he made someone a luiteninit after 2 months of being on the fire dept hell he hasn't even been put water on a fire yet but yet he is higher up in rank than most of the more experienced fire fighters and the only way he got this position is by kissing dons ass i cant stand the way he runs this fire dept he tries to run over every body and when he finds out that he cant run over anyone he gets pissed and is ready to kick you off the fire dept the fire fighters that are there only stay because of the love of the job and the love of helping people this is the reason as soon as i can get a hold of marions fire chief and talk to him im telling don to kiss my ass and im leaving now i hate leaving the other fire fighters beacause there all great and i love them like my brothers but i cant stand bein under dons control anymore and remember i am a jericho firefighter so i am talking from experiance

High praises from me for the Marion Fire Chief. He is a really good man, and I think that he could organize a team of dedicated men to man that fire station in Jericho with no problem what-so-ever. Might I suggest you guys under Don, go the mayor and suggest it to her. Tell her what your concerns are and the way you have been treated. There is strength in numbers, so all of you get together and ask for a meeting with her. Maybe you can get some results if you all stick together. Good Luck.
