I hate to see so many families affected. I know that coal is our lively hood in this region. But people, Obama and government isnt causing this. Nor is EPA. Only thing EPA is doing is not granting new permits for surface mining. The mines here have permits to dig for miles and miles. The fact is, no one is buying steam coal merely because it isnt being used. The winter months werent bad. It sucks but its the truth. Your republican leadership is filling you full of crap. There is no correlation between these layoffs and Obama that I'm aware of. If there is please enlighten me. And before people start saying I'm a tree hugger, I'm not!! Although my family is not supported by coal but I have many loved ones that are.

You might consider checking on the new KY Unemployment Bridge program...

The Kentucky Unemployment Bridge Program (UBP) is a new forgivable loan option for eligible applicants to assist them in making their mortgage payments. To be eligible, the applicant must have experienced a job loss or reduction in income due to changing economic conditions, through no fault of their own, and demonstrate a need for assistance.*

The UBP is not for job or income loss due to divorce, death, or disability. The job loss or reduction on employment income must have occurred within the three(3) year period prior to date of application.

The maximum amount of assistance is $25,000 or 12 months, whichever occurs first.

For more information go to www.kyhousing.org

Who do you think is giving these power companies tax breaks to switch to natural gas? People are getting ready to figure out just how many jobs and lives are affected by coal!

Yes why pray all at once for the miners who lost their jobs. What about the fast food workers who got layed off or lost their jobs or hours months or years ago.
Why sit and around and wine and cry oh me I won't be able to make my house payment,my car payment ect...Why did you not put money back ? Why did you live out of your income? Why go file bank rup.ect..for something that was over your head in the first place.
HAHA you church fools are the worst ones. You don't vote then you complain about who does get voted in well half of you aren't even registered to vote; And you claim your all holly-er then now crap and you would not hand a dime of your money over to help someone else in need with out blasting it out your pie holes saying oh what a good person you are look what you have done.
Then there are the drug miners poor you won't be able to support your drug problems.
Then the hey I'am a miner I keep your lights on,well good for you that you had some good morals about yourself and good will to crawl back into a hole risking your life something that not alot of people would do ,however that doesn't make you no better then the male or female who cleans bathrooms at a gas station or makes sandwiches for a living.
Best advice I've got for all of you pack up move out of here get on with your lives even if we get a new president the coal has been lost its all going down.Yeah this place will become a ghost town because of it.No new president is going to fix the no coal zone.

Are those your facts? Because you suck at it. Why do I think no one is buying? Um I think I already answered that part. Please don't mistaken my post for lack of compassion. I have been in these shoes 20 times over and know the anxiety of not knowing what the he** my family was gonna do. It's like Eastern Kentucky has been oblivious to other professions getting laid off!!! Oh coal mines got shut down n miners laid off!!! So? Look the f*** around! So are teachers, drivers, grant workers, companies gone trade, fast food, grocery....the list is endless. N u all think your special? Well your not. Cause I can guarantee you that unemployment affects everyone the same. No matter your profession. As far as my family goes I work for the state and my husband works for natural gas. Jobs that we are both laid off at some point every year! Compassion I have. Sympothy I don't.

The Fact is Obama and his regime are for going green and clean coal. The EPA is making it harder on these companies to burn coal."To much carbon in the air" Hahahaha. Thanks Obama. Obama head man said it on Tv that he he didnt care if gas went to ten dollars a gallon because he sais we needed another source of transportation meaning a solar powered cars. This president has got us in more debt than any president ever yes, even more than Bush. He has had more people sign up on medicaid than any president ever. He passed a trillion dollar stimulus plan to create jobs which flopped. He is for gay marriages, He has failed to pull us out of war which he promised four years ago. He has made it so tough on our coal companies to get permits. He has made it harder to sale over seas by taxing and permits. You want the facts there is the facts. The President failed us. Dont worry when Kentucky and Letcher County votes against him you can still say we are uneducated and racist thats why we did not vote for Your Obama. Forget all the Coal miners and there kids. Forget they half to eat, pay bills, forget that.
